Bill Eason is the Best of the Best when it comes to Porsche diagnostics. My First Diagnostic Experience with Bill.. What took multiple trips with no answer at another Porsche Shop, took Bill 5 minutes or less on the phone! Bill asked me if the car had ever had its top down during a rain event! Bingo, He then knew how to proceed. After he diagnosed my 1986 Porsche Carrera Cabriolet, I quickly brought my car to his shop and he himself removed the problem item, then he sent it the the rebuild shop in Florida, then he reinstalled the rebuilt item and I was good to go! My Most recent Diagnostic Experience with Biill.. I was told I would be looking at a $15,000.00 top side engine rebuild on the same above 1986, because I most likely had broken stud(s), causing oil leakage. Well, I brought my '86 into Bills shop and again Bill performed the necessary discovery work to determine that the studs were not broken. I then agreed for him to tighten the studs to hopefully eliminate the oil leakage, even though there was a risk to break a stud or studs. So my truck needed some work...okay..lots of work, new tires, brakes, rotors...the shhbang, Bill was able to do it all in a ridiculously fast amount of time! I read the reviews and reached out for a PPI and work on two different cars I have and am local to the shop - I left two messages with the service and answered extensive questions regarding my cars and never received a call back. Thinking this must be an anomaly I sent an email and was told it would be 6 months to accept a new customer. Eason is great, I called and eventually reached him, told him my honker wasn't working, (trying to honk at someone who road his bike nearly into me) the dealership tried to jack me $700 for this, he ask me if I tried the fuze box first, I said not yet and asked him if he could squeeze me into his biz schedule, he said sure, I drive over there in 15 mins, I learned more about my car from him than the actual dealership (wow!) and then I go into my fuze box and noticed that the fuze was missing, he put the missing fuze in and wah-la my honker is working again! he only charge me $20- for the fuze part. I'm probably safe assuming you've had issues with clogged SAI ports? Leaking steering racks? Not being able to find a decent independent Porsche shop that won't end up overfilling your motor oil during a simple oil change because they OBVIOUSLY aren't familiar with the procedure? If you're still reading this, then I'm assuming you too are an air-cooled 911 owner/lover and you know what I'm talking about here. Which is why you owe it to your 911 to pay Bill and his crew a visit. I have found Bill to be very friendly, honest, and extremely helpful because he's so knowledgeable. He has gone out of his way to help me get my car back into shape, and now my 993 drives beautifully. He understands the nuances of air-cooled 911 maintenance and that really helps the headaches that can come with unique cars such as ours. I really wish I had found Bill years ago. The first conversation Bill and I had went something like this: Me: "How much is this all gonna cost me?" Bill: "Well, hard to tell without first looking at the car, but I can tell you right now that I'm probably not the cheapest, nor am I the most expensive, but I will get the job done right. If you're just looking for the cheapest shop, I'm not your guy." Me: "Done deal." I didn't even ask about the price again until the work was done. And guess what? I can't say enough good things about Bill. It is hard to find a good mechanic who doesn't jerk you around - even harder as a woman! Bill is straight-up and just a chill guy. His partner, Nate, is a Toyota god and between the two of them they keep my little Corolla running like a champ. The dog is just a muffin, if a little stinky, so don't be intimidated by his look. The area is sketchy but Bill is on good terms with most of the folks around and they tend to leave his place alone. I give Bill's info out to *anyone* I know who is looking for a good mechanic! Since the legendary "Red" McClintock died, Bill has taken care of all my Porsches in the decades since--repairs, all sorts of upgrades ( I remember one Recaro seat adapter kit we struggled mightily with...), and parting them out when they were beyond hope! Were it not for the fact that I recently bought a brand new VW with a warranty, I would be going to Bill for everything. Period. Arrived at the door with a beat-up 924S and found a fellow motorcycle road racer who was honest as the day is long. As important as that is, Bill Eason also knows his Porsches. The combination of the two is what we all wish to find. When I finally drove the 924s into the ground, literally, he sold me his 100,000 mile '84 Carrera coupe. 8 years and 65,000 of 50% foot the floor miles later it has proved to be the best, most reliable car I have ever owned. I wonder why that is? Could it be because 'the Man' knows how to pick a car or because 'the Man' knows how to keep them running beautifully. Methinks both. Only problem I've ever had was messing up the gearbox auto-crossing. Complete tear down and rebuild in house. Flawless! He has my business for life and has become a friend into the bargain.
