    Morning latte

I'm writing this as I sit in the courtyard at Hotel Saint Cecilia. It's such a gorgeous retreat in the middle of Austin. I feel so at peace here, sitting under the big Live Oak and drinking a latte. The rooms are beautifully decorated and everything we've ordered has been delicious. If you're looking to stay in Austin but still get away from it all, Hotel Saint Cecilia is perfect.

Beautiful ambience. Excellent service. Great food! We will be back in the near future!

For me, this place checked ALL boxes, most especially the one where it's intimate and beautifully executed down to the littlest details, and flawlessly felt in all those details, without the slightest bit of pretentiousness. It is truly understated and overstated, in all the right ways, all at the same time. Utopia. I felt more comfortable here than I have at some people's houses. Yet, I felt like I was in my own home sprawled over lush landscaping with tempting delights to be found everywhere. The room was somewhere I would want to live if I could. But then again, we really did have the best downtown skyline view I think I have ever had at any 'hotel', anywhere. To be clear, this does not feel like a hotel at all, in any way. We were pampered (even got a call our first morning to ask us if we needed anything), but not in a fake way. The sincerity in character of HSC is so appreciated; I just love that HSC beats to its own drum, with its own rules, and those who get it just don't want to stop dancing. We will be back for every anniversary.

My friend and I were in town for Austin City Limits. The sign for Hotel Saint Cecilia can be hard to find due to the small size and color. It is tucked away at a residential street in South Congress, which offers nearby places for shopping and dining. As you enter, the suites are slightly to the left. The pool with the 'soul' sign is to the right, with the lobby and lounge area straight ahead. I was amazed at the atmosphere and decor inside because it is romantic yet retro. Each room or place has its own story to tell. Also, the rooms have a record collection, so I even went downstairs to the office to borrow one! I believe there are 14 rooms - suites, studios, and poolside bungalows. We stayed in one of the studios facing the main grounds, which is located above the hotel's lobby and lounge. I loved that we had our own private terrace with one of the comfiest King Hästens beds! Staff was nice and accommodating. There is no spa at this boutique hotel, but I managed to see two or so that you can walk or bike to! Someone informed this used to be occupied by a descendant of Davy Crockett before it was a bed and breakfast, but it's currently reopened as Hotel Saint Cecilia. Would I come back? Yes. It seemed like we had the studio.

I have been following this hotel on Instagram for a few years. Finally booked a trip to Austin and it was the only place we considered. From booking all the way to checking out we felt so well taken care of. The small hotel only offers 14 rooms. It feels like an oasis as you pull into the private parking and are met my attentive staff. Our room was ready and there was a sweet treat and a nice note waiting for us in our room. The hotel is very well kept. Staff wait on you hand and foot. You can have your food delivered to your patio, poolside or the lounge. The rooms all include turntables and the office offers records to borrow like a library system. We were right off of south congress so we walked over to dinner and the "I love you so much " wall. The food and snacks available are amazing! We enjoyed breakfast each morning from the hotel and snacks by the pool one afternoon. The pool area is so relaxing. It's small and intimate . Being so close to the city street was not a problem, you still feel tucked away by the lush walls of shrubs and design of the hotel, yet have easy access to restaurants and shopping. We will definitely come back again and again!

The picture spot for our wedding day shots!

What a hotel! What a lovely experience! We stayed here leading up to our wedding and on the night of our wedding. They went above and beyond for us. From champagne to lovely hand written notes wishing us the best day (they did get my name entirely wrong but, hey, pobody nerfect). We shot our wedding portraits here and it was a dream. Very secluded. Very dope esthetic (rock n' roll meets modern glamour). I am so grateful for the lovely space and for the warm, inviting room (we stayed in one of poolside bungalows). Me and my 7 bridesmaids did our makeup and put our dresses on with more than enough space. They even sent us a lovely letter wishing us a happy marriage! I am a fan! Way to go, Liz Lambert and team! Well done!

We were lucky enough to have a work dinner at Hotel Saint Cecilia and we were blown away. The grounds are simply amazing. It is hard to believe you are still smack dab in the middle of downtown Austin once you cross their threshold. Rolling green grass leads up to a nice bar with super expensive specialty cocktails. We spent an hour or two having appetizers in the bar and lots of cocktails. The bartenders were awesome and dealt with a lot of very random requests. We then moved upstairs to a private dining area. Dinner started with a fresh mozzarella caprese salad with basil and pesto, we then moved onto family style Petite Tenderloin with truffle herb butter, steel head trout and hericot verts followed by potato gratinee. The caprese was delightful fresh and the tenderloin was so soft and juicy, it melted in your mouth. The Steel head trout looked like a beautiful salmon and had an amazing buttery taste that went very well with the vegetables. Dessert was a chocolate cream tartlette with fresh cream. It simply melted in your mouth and was perfectly rich. Top to bottom every item that we stuffed into our fat faces was delicious. 10/10 would eat all of it again, and again, and again. Definitely swing by the famous Soul sign in the pool for some good people watching and a relaxing dip if you're staying here.

We also dined at Nido, the hotel's restaurant, for both dinner and breakfast, and it was definitely a highlight. Located on the topmost floor, Nido offers stunning views of the river and downtown Austin. With both indoor and outdoor seating, the ambiance is elegant and ideal for a special evening. During our visit, we saw a couple of groups celebrating birthdays and wedding anniversaries, which shows how perfect this place is for special occasions. The pricing is on the higher side, but it matches the upscale experience and beautiful setting. For dinner, we ordered the Burrata as an appetizer and the Autumn Garden for the main course, along with an American IPA and a Jack Frost cocktail. Everything was delicious, but the Burrata truly stood out as my favorite. Breakfast was equally enjoyable--we had custom-made omelettes with veggies and avocado toast, both fresh and flavorful. Overall, The Loren Hotel, along with Nido, offers a great blend of comfort, excellent food, and a beautiful atmosphere. A perfect choice if you're looking to celebrate something special or simply treat yourself to a high-end experience.

The Friday night gathering was amazing. It was a perfect setting on the eight floor to talk, mingle, and meet new people. The evening was warm enough to go outside on the balcony/deck and have conversations and enjoy a breeze. The room itself is large with a water station and a bar. A few short tables were set up for sitting and a few tall ones for standing. They had a nice selection of drinks from beer and wine to mixed drinks. The food included lobster rolls, sliders (chicken and beef), a tray of different veggies and dips, little balls of cheese and something, and aroncini? My favorite was canapés of Mellon and prosciutto. The saltiness of the prosciutto added to the flavor of the melon. This event was 5***** I blame the architect for the room setup. Why would you put bedrooms on the side of a hotel next to traffic. The noise, honking and sirens. It finally quieted down around 11:30. Saturday was also an issue. They do provide ear plugs and sound machines, neither works for me. I was also surprised there was no lotion in the room. There was no microwave. Everything else in the room was top notch. Robes, slippers, a safe, a bar, and fridge. Overall, the noise is what created the 3*** rating. That was very disappointing.

Two double beds were comfy and plenty of towels. Our first night's stay was decent. Surprised to know they seem to use softened water because it made our skin feel slippery. I noticed the shower gel holder was falling out of the wall. A precarious situation of having to carefully pull the mechanism to dispense without pulling too hard. I did notify the night staff but the next day, it didn't seem like anyone came to fix it. No extra body wash or soap was provided even when I asked for some. The wall sockets with the en-suite appliances was not usable. The electrical outlets weren't working so we couldn't toast anything, use the kettle, or the coffee machine. Couldn't find one with a GFCI breaker to reset that side so gave up. Interestingly, the full-sized fridge and microwave were working ok though. The rod for one of the window curtains fell off while opening them. Because it's floor to ceiling we just left it alone. The common spaces around the property are well decorated, from the Library, Executive board room, kids corner, gym/yoga studio, and outdoor lounge space. Although, the snack/tea/coffee station with Keurig isn't filled maintained often. We had to ask the night staff to refill the water for tea and the lobby water dispenser was constantly low as well. On our second to last day, I found the hot water and still water station downstairs at Simona's. Pros: Clean, comfy, affordable stay. Enjoyed the bottomless drip coffee $5 and their signature Breakfast at Tiffany's latte. Also appreciated them letting us do late checkout and upgrade our room. Cons: Complimentary water station, Keurig / snack station, overall maintenance of room amenities could be handled better. Warning: If booking from 3rd party (BILT, Capital One Portal...) the added parking is not the same price that's on Colton's House's website. It's actually $40/day (with in/out privileges). However if booking directly through Colton House for stays, parking is 50% off at $20. Would we stay here again in the future? Most likely not.
