What: hipster hotel with cement floors and ceilings making the room extremely cold and freezing. I put the room at 76 but it would not go past 71. They said it must be locked and brought me an extra blanket but I didn't sleep well that first night. The next day it went up to 75. The room does not have any USB ports at all so I couldn't plug in my Apple Watch or hearing aid. I also didn't like how there was no bolt for the door, so safety-wise, a worker can just come in while you are in there. The TV also had lots of steaming problems so could only get a handful of channels. Otherwise, it was clean and even though the fridge was full of items for purchase, there was space on the top shelf for your own small things. Tip: there is a market on 6th if you walk down for 3 minutes (Royal Blue) if you want to get bottled water or other snacks.

Great location in East Austin! The address is on 6th Street but the main entrance and valet is actually on Chicon Street. The lobby is small and simple. The lady at the front desk was prompt and friendly and took 3 minutes to check me in. I had a studio room which was very spacious for my 2 night, solo stay. The room was modern and clean. There's a mini fridge filled with goodies for purchase. There is a small, open hanging closet plus drawers underneath the TV cabinet. The safe is also located in the cabinet under the TV. There is a table/booth seating area that's perfect for eating meals or just lounging around. The bed was comfy and clean and there were curtains to cover the large windows. My room was facing 6th Street, across from Whisler's Bar. It was definitely loud on a Saturday night, so be wary of that if you need peace and quiet to sleep. I'm deducting one star from this review because I had 2 issues during my stay. I had booked a 2 night/3 day stay and on my 2nd day there I got a phone call in the afternoon, from the front desk, telling me that I was supposed to check out at 11am but my luggage was still in the room. I had booked this hotel through my Chase travel credit card/website so I had to forward them this confirmation to confirm I was booked for an additional day. Thankfully they didn't pack my things up and let me remain in the same room for an additional night. The 2nd issue I had was on the day I was checking out. I was still in bed at 9:30am, awake thankfully, when a staff member opened my door and was surprised to see me and stated that he was told my room was vacated this morning. He quickly left but then 10 minutes later, a housekeeper let herself into the room and also stated she was told I was gone. Why those two didn't communicate to each other that I was still in the room was very irritating. I was paranoid the whole time I was in the shower and getting ready, that someone else would barge in. FYI - I also had the do not disturb sign outside my door, since the night before, so that seemed completely useless. Overall, the rooms are great - spacious, super clean, and modern - I would probably stay here again. The miscommunication three times during my 2 night stay was irritating to me but overall I felt safe here and the staff remained friendly and accommodating.

I love the hotel. It's eclectic, the colors are great, it's clean. The shower is large and amazing, the hand and body products don't have an overwhelming smell. I love the heavy curtains that shut out the light. The elevator is quiet and quick. They even have a small restaurant and bar area. The person that checked me in was very nice and helpful and tried to answer questions about the neighborhood in a diplomatic way. Be careful if you're out walking around. If you go in one direction you appear to be in a not so nice area, however the murals are something to see.

BIG SHOUTOUT to SHANNTEL! She's the best bartender in Austin! Her service is exceptional--fast, delicious, and beautiful cocktails. I highly recommend visiting her. The ambiance is very chill--perfect for conversations, work, or a night out with your girls! #FIVESTARS

Pros: Great location Friendly staff Good communication Nice rooms Cons: Parking fee Loved this place. Check in was easy. Even before I arrived, I received a text asking for my ETA. We found the place easy. The valet took our car and we went to check in. While waiting for our room, they have us complimentary drinks. The room: Spacious. Clean. The room has a very Austin vibe. I loved the old school appliances. The fridge is super cute. The bed was comfy. Kind of small to share with another friend, but comfy enough. The room has a nice seating area with a table. The bathroom is big. Toiletries included shampoo, conditions, body wash, lotion. Instead of an iron, they have a steamer. Parking: available on site, but there's a charge. I think all the hotels in that area will be the same. The hotel is located super close to 6th street and venues like the paramount theater. It's about a 15 min walk to the heart of 6th street. You can find restaurants as soon as you walk out of the hotel, aside from the one in the hotel. There's also a brewery 2 min walk away.

We also dined at Nido, the hotel's restaurant, for both dinner and breakfast, and it was definitely a highlight. Located on the topmost floor, Nido offers stunning views of the river and downtown Austin. With both indoor and outdoor seating, the ambiance is elegant and ideal for a special evening. During our visit, we saw a couple of groups celebrating birthdays and wedding anniversaries, which shows how perfect this place is for special occasions. The pricing is on the higher side, but it matches the upscale experience and beautiful setting. For dinner, we ordered the Burrata as an appetizer and the Autumn Garden for the main course, along with an American IPA and a Jack Frost cocktail. Everything was delicious, but the Burrata truly stood out as my favorite. Breakfast was equally enjoyable--we had custom-made omelettes with veggies and avocado toast, both fresh and flavorful. Overall, The Loren Hotel, along with Nido, offers a great blend of comfort, excellent food, and a beautiful atmosphere. A perfect choice if you're looking to celebrate something special or simply treat yourself to a high-end experience.

The Friday night gathering was amazing. It was a perfect setting on the eight floor to talk, mingle, and meet new people. The evening was warm enough to go outside on the balcony/deck and have conversations and enjoy a breeze. The room itself is large with a water station and a bar. A few short tables were set up for sitting and a few tall ones for standing. They had a nice selection of drinks from beer and wine to mixed drinks. The food included lobster rolls, sliders (chicken and beef), a tray of different veggies and dips, little balls of cheese and something, and aroncini? My favorite was canapés of Mellon and prosciutto. The saltiness of the prosciutto added to the flavor of the melon. This event was 5***** I blame the architect for the room setup. Why would you put bedrooms on the side of a hotel next to traffic. The noise, honking and sirens. It finally quieted down around 11:30. Saturday was also an issue. They do provide ear plugs and sound machines, neither works for me. I was also surprised there was no lotion in the room. There was no microwave. Everything else in the room was top notch. Robes, slippers, a safe, a bar, and fridge. Overall, the noise is what created the 3*** rating. That was very disappointing.

While I mostly kept to the hotel, when I did venture out, I found that there were lots of great dining options within walking distance. If this stay were not reimbursed, I would have removed a star considering rooms average $500 a night and reliable internet access is expected. However, I was given 2,500 bonus points after calling the front desk when I first noticed I didn't have service. Completely unexpected but very much appreciated and yet another testament to the great service here.

Two queen beds were comfy and plenty of towels. Our first night's stay was decent. I noticed the shower gel holder was falling out of the wall. A precarious situation of having to carefully pull the mechanism to dispense without pulling too hard. I did notify the night staff but the next day, it didn't seem like anyone came to fix it. No extra body wash or soap was provided even when I asked for some. The wall with the en-suite appliances was not usable. The plugs weren't working so we couldn't toast anything, use the kettle, or the coffee machine. The fridge and microwave were working ok though. The rod for one of the curtains fell off while opening them. Because it's floor to ceiling we just left it alone. The common spaces are well decorated, from the Library, Executive board room, kids corner, gym/yoga studio, and outdoor lounge space. Although the snack/tea/coffee spot with Keurig isn't filled often. We had to ask for the night staff to refill the water for tea. On our second to last day, I found the hot water and still water station downstairs at Simona's. Pros: Clean, comfy, affordable stay. Enjoyed the bottomless coffee and their signature breakfast at Tiffany's latte. Also appreciated them letting us do late checkout and upgrade our room. Cons: Complimentary water station, Keurig / snack station, maintenance of amenities could be better handled. Warning: If booking from 3rd party (BILT, Capital One Portal...) added parking is not the same price that's on Colton's House's website. It's actually $40/day (with in/out priceless). However if booking directly through Colton House, parking is 50% off for $20. Would we stay here again in the future? Most likely not.
