When my father passed away last year, I was left with the impossible question of what to do with the family home of 44 years in Oakland. Do I sell? Do I rent it? Do I do the necessary work to move into it myself? In the throes of what was already a complicated situation rife with emotion, I needed expert guidance. A trusted friend who used Glennie and Lissa as buying agents suggested I give them a call. From the very first moment of contact, they were professional, personable, and clearly skillful. Just as importantly, they were emotionally attuned to the sensitivity of the task at hand, including cultural competence around LGBTQ and Latinx families.
They took the time to walk me through the various options, including using their concierge services to remodel the home and represent as selling agents. I was invited to an open house that was a similar project, and I was immediately impressed with the quality of both design and construction. They offered options and choices without any pressure or imposition and didn't try to sell me on any specific idea. When I made the decision to remodel and sell my childhood home, I did so confidently, backed by their transparency, thoroughness, competence, and professionalism.
The process of remodel with East Baker Construction was shockingly seamless (at least for me!), and I deeply appreciated that the project was both collaborative and yet spared me being overloaded with decisions. It's an inevitably stressful endeavor, but that was easily mitigated by the fact Glennie and Lissa kept the project on budget, on time, and always responded promptly (to even beginner questions). I also appreciated that the East Baker Construction contractors and crew were communicative, efficient, and highly skilled.
When I finally saw the finished house, I was speechless at the beauty of the design and thoughtful staging. The icing on the cake was that as selling agents, they found the perfect buyer, closed quickly, and above asking price-- in an unstable housing market to boot. I couldn't have asked for a better way to honor my father's legacy and pass my childhood home on to be cherished by a new family. Lissa and Glennie are not only masters of their craft, but really good human beings. Without hesitation I will use them again for any future real estate ventures, and highly recommend anyone else to do the same. read more
