We hired Ethos Built for a huge kitchen cabinet project, including new base cabinets, 2 layers upper cabinets, pull out pantry, over fridge cabinets, a rolling cabinet to sit flush with the other base cabinets, and a seperate spice cabinet. Jesse helped us design the layout, talked us through options and possibilities, and was on board with all our specialty requests to maximize the space. The cost for the job was very reasonable for the scale of the job. The crew that came to do the install did excellent quality work. My experience with Jesse and Ethos Built could not have been better in responsiveness, craftmanship and work ethic. I replaced my windows in our 104 year old craftsman house and rather than buy the prestained windows for the dining room and living room we decided to have someone come and stain them and also work on other parts of the gumwood window and door frames. That was a disaster. I called Jesse and he answered my call immediately and came over to take a look. He recommended a plan of action to restore this very old wood. His team of Jose and ultimately Claire properly sanded, stained and finished bringing the wood back to its proper color and texture. Jesse worked with us matching the color and many of our concerns. Jesse assigned Jesus to remodel our half bathroom and full bathroom. Jesus, with daily support from Jesse, completed an amazing remodel of both rooms according to designs that I provided. In the full bath, the walk in shower with an infinity tile floor and drain was built where the bathtub was located. Jesus is a genius with the tiles. Jesse built a custom hanging vanity that turned out great. I suggest that you are clear on what you want done and let Jesse opine and improve. We could not be happier with the work Jesse and his crew did for us. We're really glad we chose Ethos Built and will continue to work with them in the future; we recommend you do too. Our project involved designing and building an Arts & Crafts style fireplace to replace a strange "Frank Lloyd Wrong" thing erected in the 60s. The quote was very fair and in line with other contractors; but from the beginning, we could tell that Jesse was more invested in our project. He is more than a contractor, he's a craftsman and artist who really enjoys bringing his skills and experience to a job. Jesse was patient and easy to work with while we hammered out design ideas and material choices; he wasn't put off by the fact that we wanted to participate and even do some of the finish work ourselves. Jesse was generous with his experience and recommendations, but always open to our ideas and really partnered with us to make sure we would be happy with the outcome. The end result is a masterpiece and turned out better than our original design ideas. The Etos Built crew was also professional, on time, and careful to make sure everything was clean and packed up every day before leaving. Joe was especially skilled and a pleasure to work with. Finally, I'll say that working with Jesse was like working with a friend, so we didn't draw up a detailed plan or fill out a lengthy contract. Kitchen flood caused by faulty faucet resulted in several cabinets, portions of the center island and part of the engineered hardwood floor needing replacement. All the contractors I spoke with (and all of my friends and family) advised that the best course of action was a complete kitchen remodel. Due to the small portion of the kitchen that was affected and the age of the house, insurance would only cover approximately 20% of the cost of a full remodel. Also, I was uncomfortable with the amount of waste involved with replacing the undamaged cabinets and countertops. After multiple search efforts, I finally found Ethos Built. Jesse was the only contractor who was willing to rebuild the damaged cabinets and match the finish to the remaining cabinets. Jesse built the cabinets and Jose did the majority of the installation. Project was much less invasive, took only two weeks instead of two months, and was much cheaper than a full remodel. Jesse responded quickly to all of my questions and he and his workers were very professional and accommodating throughout the install. Jose worked hard to minimize the disruption to our routines and to leave everything as functional and accessible as possible at the end of each day. He was also a good sport with three people being home to "supervise" all of his work. Cabinets and island have been repaired/replaced, new flooring was installed and I am very pleased with the result. read more
