I cannot say enough wonderful things about East Bay Bakery. Their baked goods are truly amazing. Currently, I have a family member going through cancer treatment, and as her appetite has been very low, I try to bring her whatever she is craving to help out. The only thing she consistently requests--once or twice a week--are treats from East Bay Bakery. It is the one thing she will always eat! I tried some of their bakery from the Walnut Creek farmers market on the weekend. I love their rosemary focaccia bread. It is soft, moist, not to oily, and has the perfect amount of rosemary and salt particle sprinkled on top. I can eat the focaccia straight up out of the bag while walking around the farmers market. We also tried to selection of their other baked goods. They have a good variety nothing too sweet. I decided to go to their Brick + Mortar location in Danville on a weekday around lunchtime (Wednesday). I was a little bit disappointed as they did not seem to have a large quantity or variety of baked goods. They only sell focaccia bread on the weekends, they said. Some of the baked goods we ended up getting since we were already there were from the display I guess it seemed like on weekdays they don't tend to bake a large quantity. It makes sense to me, however a little bit disappointed as I figured going to the mothership would yield me a greater variety. But it sounds like if you want variety and freshness it's best to go on a weekend, or go to the farmers market where they're at. Service was quick and friendly. There was one bigger baking in the back, and one cashier. The place was pretty quiet as it was a weekday and no one else was there. But also appeared clean and bright and well air-conditioned on this hot day. I do not recommend going to this location on a weekday. I would be interested to come back on a weekend to see what it's like. Either way Walnut Creek farmers market is a must go if you want to check out their variety. read more

Although the items are mostly good, everything is so overpriced and Danville patrons unfortunately are willing to pay these high prices. $7 and $8 for pastries that are $5 and $6 in nearby cities with same quality. TLDR TIP: Don't go right when they open! Limited pastries available. One thing I've noticed consistently is that if you go right when they open or within the first hour of them opening, they have a limited number of pastries available. They always have scones ready, which is my favorite, but everything else is hit or miss on whether it will be ready. Last time I went, I got there 10 min after they opened and they only had some scones, gf muffins, almond croissant, chocolate almond croissant, and a croissant fruit toast. Totally get that it's a small mom-and-pop shop but there are many of those around here that have a decent selection when they open and open earlier. Just find it a bit odd...but the quality is great nonetheless. read more

I first discovered this bakery at the Walnut Creek farmers market--they had a booth there, and I decided to try a croissant. One bite and I was hooked. It was the perfect amount of flaky, fluffy, and crunchy. As soon as I found out they had a storefront, I knew I had to check it out, so I visited and I got the OG Blonde and dark chocolate cookie- I'm not a huge sweets person but this cookie was the best cookie I've ever had (I had to return for 2 more cookies). The coarse salt on top is the perfect addition and evens out the sweetness. I can't wait to try more of their items! read more

Interesting bakes but not worth the $8-$9 price point. Most of the bakes in SF are similarly priced and it's really cute how the cafe is East Bay repping. Got the Kouign Aman, Almond Croissant, Basque Cheesecake and another pastry with crème and plums, they were fluffy and the almond croissant was flaky but not notable compared to others. My family and I are obsessed with this bakery. We have not been to the storefront so I can't speak on behalf of that but they are at the Walnut Creek farmers market every Sunday and we get pastries and bread almost every week. The olive bread is insane. They use whole olives and the saltiness of them balances out the bread so well. The bread is sooo soft and it's honestly perfect. This and the almond croissants are dangerous to have in our house because they don't make it half a day before it's devoured. Best almond croissant around. They slice it in half and FILL it with their filling so you enjoy the filling in every bite. The croissant itself is the perfect amount of flakiness. It's soft and buttery too. We also enjoy their cookies! The bakery has a ton of different things to try. I love the selection. Everything is made fresh with what seems to be very high, good quality ingredients. The lady that helped me today had a bad attitude. Very few items were in the display when I walked in. Something caught my eyel and I asked the employee what kind of pastery that is and she told me. I asked what was inside the pastry and she gave me attitude and said nothing was inside. No need to be condescending. Im not a pastry psychic. I have been coming to this bakery for a couple of years - particularly for their blonde chocolate chip cookies which were to die for. I really liked their kouign aman and croffle as well. However it seems they started using some strong cleaner. Every-time I come into the bakery I am overwhelmed with the smell of this cleaner. Additionally I can taste the cleaning product in most, if not all of their products now, which is really off putting. I just picked up a croffle, cookies, kouign aman, and croistock and each pastry seemed to taste of their cleaning product which was disappointing as I once loved coming here. It wasn't just a once off experience either. It seems every time I reattempt this bakery I can taste the cleaner which sucks because their products were quite good before. They have a phenomenal reputation for quality and my opinion of this East Bay bakery will be complementary to our expectations. I give them a five star for the quality of their baked goods And so far what I have sampled has been excellent. The layers in the croissants are phenomenal and the taste is yummy. I have tried it three times and have found it to be very consistent. I will consistently come by and pick up some baked goods often. 4++ I saw this pop up on my radar when I'm staying at my parents place in San Ramon. I looked it up, and it seemed like they were showing up at farmers markets as well with their brick and mortar at a strip mall in the Danville / Blackhawk area. Super nice smallish bakery with lots of bakeries available. I came here one morning and ordered pastries for me and my parents. The folks here very friendly and helpful. Everything we had was very tasty and fresh and super well made. Nice flakey crust and delicious fillings. If you want to go with them or savory her out, the garlic cream cheese was delicious. The minute I stepped in, I knew it was love at first sniff. The overwhelming desire to buy everything came over me (and luckily, we nearly did since I was in good company). So, whoever didn't rate this bakery 5 stars is out of their gourd because a lot of love and care went into their baked goods, and you can taste it. The bread and Croissants are the perfect balance between crisp and flake. The consistency is just right, and the flavor is absolutely delicious! Their ability to maintain the perfect balance of sweet and savory is impressive since it's not easy to do. I also really liked the customer service here. The staff works hard but at the same time manages to juggle customers gracefully while being attentive. I think the prices are very fair, especially considering the quality of baked goods! I have heard so many great things about this bakery, and I'm finally glad I was able to try them. They finally have a brick and mortar location and not just their farmers market stands. I went to their bakery location and all the employees were so patient, helpful, and sweet. The young woman helping me was so polite and helped me choose the different pastries. I got one box for my house and one box for a family friend. Every single item we have tried has been DELICIOUS!! The one item I was most excited to try was the Pastrami and Cheese Croissant. I've grown up loving ham and cheese croissants, but 7 years ago I stopped eating pork. That was one item I really missed, as all places always have ham and cheese if they do have savory croissants. I was over the moon to hear they had pastrami instead of ham. This was by far the tastiest and flavorful savory croissant I have ever had! In fact, the pastrami had way more flavor than ham has ever had. The pastrami inside wasn't overwhelming and had a great balance of cheese and meat. The croissant was buttery and flaky! My waistline will hate me now that I have discovered it! My family scarfed down the almond croissants and they loved them. The Kouign-amann was out of this world and not overly sweet. It was so flaky on the outside, but a nice moist texture inside. Get the garlic cream cheese roll!! It was garlicky and cheesy, but with a hint of sweet. I actually ended up sprinkling some salt on it only because I wanted a salty flavor, but it was absolutely delicious the way it was. If you can, also try it warmed up in the microwave for 20 seconds. I had a little piece of it warmed up and it did not disappoint. However, it's tasty at room temperature as well. I can't wait to try the other pastries, but if they're anything like all the ones we have tried so far, I'm sure they'll be just as mind blowing. read more

Very unhappy with our Thanksgiving Apple Pie today. When we picked up the $55.00 pie, I was shocked it looked nothing like the photo. We had one 2 years ago and it was GREAT!
