Craving their carrot cake and headed here. I came at a good time cause it wasn't as busy as other times I've been here. The person at the bakery was very nice and helpful. Picked up me a slice of their carrot cake, a tiramisu cupcake, and grabbed a pack of mini carrot cake cupcakes. Should have known I'd prefer their carrot cake over those mini bites. My son enjoyed the tiramisu cupcake. The cashier that rung me up was pleasant. Always experienced a great experience here. read more

I decided to visit Draegers because it was closing and I heard they had 40-50% discount on food and home goods. I came a day or two after the news of the closure sale, there were still plenty of perishable and non perishable foods to pick from. Some popular high ticket items like tea and coffee were more scare but there was still some items that remained. The home goods items were picked over. I bought a bunch of salsas and hot sauces that would have been $10 a piece without the sale. The food here at regular price would have been too expensive for the average person tbh. Nice store but expensive for today's times. read more

I had to come to this store while housesitting because I dream about their cake. It's my absolute favorite store bought cake. When I say it's good I mean it 100%. It's as good as cake made in my kitchen. The frosting tastes homemade and the cake definitely does. I was told it's made daily and brought into their store from their main store or wherever they get their food from. However you can taste the freshness and good quality. You must try it!!! read more

I had no idea Draeger's Market had a secondary location or that it was so close to us here in the East Bay, so while I was out for an appointment I dropped by to pick up some of their salad and house made hummus, which were staples of my diet back in the day. Honestly, I was not expecting both locations to be so similar. There was almost zero difference in what the store carried, although there was a bit of difference in the layout as this location has the home goods in a separate area and not on the second floor. However they still carry their homemade hummus which is hands down is my favorite hummus brand. And you can only get it in house at Draeger's. Their salad bar also uses the same to-go boxes, same to go lids, and stocks their homemade bacon bits. The service was friendly and helpful across the multiple people who were able to help me find the hummus as it's kept directly behind the salad bar in its own separate area. I also loved that they are one of the few companies that stocks the Twinings Darjeeling brand tea so I was able to pick up a couple of those as well. All in all I was blown away that I'm back to having a Draeger's Market close to me again and will definitely be dropping in more often! read more

The other half of the store is filled with your typical grocery items, deli, a cheese parlor, bakery, catering, and a large selection of wines. This grocery is the perfect spot for your gourmet and speciality items. Dang it, I'm so bummed out this store closed. It was the best store of any kind in Danville and probably in the entire east bay. Excellent selections, friendly employees, they supported local businesses, and held great wine tastings. Unfortunately, we never got a chance to try their cooking classes. This store will be majorly missed! Hopefully they can come back one day when the owners of the plaza get their act together or we can get better owners. Was just at Draeger's and it's been awhile since we've moved from the Blackhawk area. I happen to be around, so I thought to stop by. Has every gourmet food you want, from local to international and fully stocked. It's almost overwhelming, but since I had a little bit of time I perused the different aisles. The reason for a low and disappointing review is about the cash wrap and the cashiers. There was no line forming at the end where the sign was, so I looked to find the one with no line, which was the first one cashier. She was almost finish with her customer. As I was placing my items down with a separator, the cashier says something to the effect like not to put it down so I was a bit confused - was she closing or did she not want to help me? So i decided to go to the other cashier and she kept talking to her customer about something related to the line when tbere was no line and no one else behind me. I thought that was an odd way of talking to or directing customers who were ready to pay and have placed their stuff down to be rung up. I still didn't understand why she told me not to put my stuff down initially. Not a good experience. Anyway, good thing there's Lunardi's and Trader Joe's with straightforward and friendly customer service, and even if I still lived in the Blackhawk area, I'd most likely go to Safeway instead and for gourmet stuff, I'd rather drive farther to Whole Foods. read more

I experienced an incident of what I believe to be discriminatory service that occurred at Draeger's supermarket located at Blackhawk Plaza in Danville, California. While I was waiting in line at the home goods section at the cashier, I experienced a situation that seemed to reflect unfair treatment based on race. I(a female Asian) was the second person in line when the only open cashier then was servicing a customer. Shadhana, as the second cashier/store assistant that approached the counter, causally wondered around that area, joked with that first customer that she can't wait for her 6pm shift to end. While I waited in line, I asked her if I can check out the olive oil at the home goods section(the section she's servicing). She confirmed yes without offering to help me. She went on to continue the casual chat with the customer and the other cashier while kept me waiting for 4-5 minutes. After a while, a white male and a white female customers arrived after me. Shadhana immediately offered her help to assist those two customers via opening the second cashier counter, despite she knows I was already waiting in line before those other two customer came after me. Luckily, the white male customer noticed I was waiting before them and kindly asked if I was in line, I confirmed yes and proceeded to Shadhana's counter to check out my product. I got Shadhana's name from the receipt of my purchase. She's south Asian looking female in her 40s/50s. Draeger's should investigate this incident and make sure their customers are treated fairly. read more

Great deli and bakery. Great chicken breakfast sausage in the meat counter. But stay alway from the prepared chicken fettuccine Alfredo, chicken tastes like straw and sauce was bland. Was in the prepackaged meal section. I like this store great soups and service is good. Would be nice if they read these comments to improve in areas. read more

Talk about a store that is vast and expensive. They have a lot of exotic ingredients for those dishes that you want to try.

I bought a protein refrigerated item and when I got home and opened it I saw it was completely moldy. This store is not cheap so it's frustrating that they don't rotate the food. I went in the next day to tell the staff about it and he just said ok! And dismissed me and seemed annoyed but I just didn't want anyone to get sick because this is not the first time I've accidentally bought food that is not good there or has a problem with it. When I got to the car I realized I forgot something and I walked back inside and he had his back turned talking to another staff telling him about the situation speaking negatively about me and laughing because I "complained" he didn't realize I was walking back inside right past him hearing the whole thing. He finally saw me and the other guy walked away and they both got quiet.It made me super uncomfortable and not want to shop here anymore because I was just alerting them that something packaged had mold in it. I didn't make a fuss. Pretty disappointing for a store like this because most of the staff are friendly and helpful but not this guy. Super unprofessional. read more

Just your small chain, small neighborhood, grocery store; albeit a very well-to-do neighborhood. The store feels very clean, and the people that work here are super nice and helpful. My parents don't live in the immediate neighborhood, but they live pretty close by. We always come here to get their desserts for family gatherings. Their pies and their tarts are delicious here. And relatively speaking, they have better crust than pretty much anywhere else you can get similar desserts. they have a pretty good variety as well. It's a full on grocery store so you can get produce and a lot of other items lhere as well. But mainly we have come here for the desserts. I totally would recommend. read more

I am truly impressed with this store and its specialty food, elegant kitchenware and cooking classes. They have gourmet and artisan items that you can't find at just any grocery store. The only reason I gave it 3 stars instead of 5 is I knocked off a star for being very expensive for the same items found at lower prices elsewhere, and knocked off another star for the food in the deli. Although beautifully presented and freshly made, it's not all that great tasting. A lot of their deli salads and prepared foods seem to have a vinegary taste to them across the board. But a great thing about their deli is that their sandwiches are very generously made. You indicate on the order sheet what you would like on your sandwich and it can end up being quite huge. This place is damn impressive, and priced accordingly for the good people of the Danville area who have too much money. Our first stop inside was the prepared food area, where we picked up some turkey chili for Blondie, and a veggie quesadilla for me, very tasty indeed. But wow, for a half pint container, the chili was over $10. Right next to this was the vinegar and olive oil selection, with a more impressive selection than a place I recently visited in Napa that specializes in that. Then came the kitchenware section. You could do a wedding registry here. Beautiful serving pieces, china, gadgets, hand towels, everything really. Barware, including a $425 Italian cocktail shaker, fashioned from God knows what. Let's skip to the booze area. I always do. Multi-thousand dollar bottles of Rothschild Lafite, or $25 bottles of chianti, they have it all. I found two bottles of Octomore Scotch, which I've had to special order in the past. The bathrooms were exceptionally clean. The rest of the store seemed more standard, just pricier than average. I wouldn't go here for normal groceries, but I'll probably be back for holiday shopping for my foodie friends. read more

I'm not impressed with this Draeger's location. Everything is overpriced, and they do not have a great selection of items. The store is very clean and organized, so I will give them that. I prefer the San Mateo location instead, since their have a larger selection of chocolate, candy, cheese, deli, and international items. Their bakery is a little better than the San Mateo location, as they had more bakery items in stock. If you have a disposable income and like to walk around without having to deal with a bunch of people milling around, then this is the grocery store for you. read more

I found Draeger's Market during a search for organic Asian sauces and spices in the Bay Area. I needed some specific ingredients for a Chinese style turkey for Thanksgiving. Draeger's was the closest to me so I ventured out there midweek and found lots of parking. The entrance had enticing pastries and bread. When I got to the British section, I was impressed by the selection compared to most grocery stores. The same aisle had so many different Chinese, Japanese, Thai, and Korean items, I probably spent at least 30 minutes in that aisle alone. I love yuzu so I had to grab the yuzu furikake and look for any other yuzu products. Another section had a huge array of hot sauces. I didn't spend as much time as I would have liked in the beer aisle but I noticed they had a good selection of Belgian beer. If I had more time, I probably would have spent over an hour perusing all the various aisles. When I finally went to pay, I didn't have to wait long. The employees were very friendly. The cashier even complimented me on my selections and remarked that the Shiso soy sauce I chose will make you never want to use anything else. I definitely plan on coming back when I need to stock up on pantry items and get foodie gifts. read more

I've always hesitated shopping here because they are extremely overpriced...they make Whole Foods prices seem like Grocery Outlet, Bargain Market. For example, the same chocolate chips I get at Whole Foods for $6.99 are $9.99 here. That's about 43% more! Whaaaa? I still go once in a while because the location is kinda convenient. In addition to the price points, their produce section is extremely lacking, and there's definitely not a lot of organic options. With the sky high prices, at least they were able to hire Mask Police, complete with uniform, to remind you to "mask up," even as you're in the process of putting a mask on outside of the store. Not to mention all of the super helpful signs to remind you not to get near anybody, and warn you that "you touch it, you buy it!" Interestingly, somehow the masks don't mask the smell of the fish section, which smells way fishier than any fish section I've even smelled...and I'm a fish person. Also, maybe I missed this sign, but i basically got yelled at for setting my reusable bag for a split second on the conveyor belt. But...they don't clean the key pad between shoppers? And they don't have contactless pay options? Okayyyy. You do you, Draeger's. I do like their little gift section, but no, thank you. I'm good. Safeway is right across the street. #done read more

After shopping here, I want to ask every other "supermarket" to remove the word "super" from their name. Please note I don't live in the area, but when I'm near Danville I make sure to pay a visit to Draeger's. The main market has a great selection of whatever you need. The deli, prepared foods and bakery had a great selection of everything you may not need, but can't resist trying. The shop with kitchen gear, dishes and home goods is both charming and practical. Be advised this is a relativistic review. This is an upscale grocery, so expect to spend 20-50% or more for everything. I can accept that if you have premium products and premium service. They once had premium service, but no more. The workers at the cheese counter or deli used to be friendly and professional, but not anymore. Now it's incompetence combined with unfriendliness. They used to have workers who knew their products. Now, the last two times they were just random clerks who didn't know anything, and used their cell phones to look things up on Google. So why should I pay a premium for this? I won't be back. (I said relative, because it is still nicer and cleaner than your basic grocery store like Safeway. Actually, it is very much like Safeway, just with higher prices.) read more

Pros: Clean store that is well organized. Produce appears fresh Cons: Staff are unfriendly bordering on rude. In particular an older woman with red hair working the registers made us feel unwelcome in the store. She was however very nice to the customer after me, who happened to be white (I'm a POC). I'm not big into blaming race for things, but this one seemed like a pretty obvious "we don't like your kind here"sort of snub. Prices are also 20-50% higher for brands that are not much different from Safeway. Organic selection is hit or miss. I'm unclear why anyone would choose high prices and poor service over other places like Whole Foods. It's a shame, we live in the neighborhood and wanted to like it, but we won't be returning. This is a such a cute grocery store. It's definitely like a more expensive Safeway, but they also have more variety and options than a typical Safeway. It's a lot bigger than it looks inside, too. I work near the area, so I often come here for a snack or lunch and bring it back up to my office on the hill. They have sushi, a deli, a bakery and a bunch of warm food options in their deli area. I wish we had a Draeger's closer to my home, but it's nice having it close to work, too. The customer service here is great and they are always friendly and fast. Draegers closed at 8 on November 27. We were getting ready to leave and 2 ladies showed up at closing, they didn't know we were closed on Thanksgiving and forgot to pick up their turkey dinner. Piyush invited them in, Gaby at meat sold them a ham while Chris in Deli on his way home after a long busy day drove back to unlock the fridge to get their dinner. My wife and I came here for the first time a couple days ago. I think we were both surprised with the selection of things they offered. You will notice that the prices are higher in general but they did have some things you can't find in your typical grocery stores. We decided to buy a meringue cake from their bakery section and we found it surprisingly good. The rottiserie chicken however was quite dry though and whole foods does have a better one.
