The power to our refrigerator outlet went out. I called three electricians to compare their rates and availability. Norseman Electric was the only one that offered to help trouble shoot the issue on the phone. Robin patiently guided me on several things I could myself to resolve the matter, so that I would not need get an electrician out to my house. She advised me to locate any neighboring outlets with GFCI, which could impact the power to the fridge outlet, and walked me through pressing the buttons on these GFCI outlets. After finding two such outlets, and resetting the buttons, the fridge outlet was retested, and was back in service again. Norseman Electric helped us to fix the problem ourselves, saving us the time and $$ from having an electrician service the outlet. I will definitely contact them in the future for an electrical issues, and highly recommend them. read more

We needed to upgrade our old 100 amp main breaker to a 200 amp panel and Norseman did a great job! Darryl and team showed up early and worked hard but actually had to leave halfway through the job for another emergency (house fire or something) but came back later to finish things up. I also had a side project I planned on doing myself which required running a dedicated circuit from the main to a 100 amp sub panel in the garage. Randy came out separately (on his own time and no extra charge!) to explain exactly what I needed to buy (and what supply store they used - Bayshore in Pleasant Hill. So much better than the orange and blue big box stores) and even drew up where each wire should go, etc. He was super helpful and so I was able to confidently wire up everything myself. read more

I have a 1970s rental condo that needed a new circuit breaker box. Since it was a rental and the tenant had to use an extension cord to get power from the bathroom for the refrigerator, Randy understood the immediacy needed. He came out the next day to evaluate the work and give me a quote and then scheduled an electrician to come on Saturday rather than making me wait 6 weeks for the next available appointment. Box was replaced within 2 hours but some outlets still weren't working. The electrician spent another hour to find the problem to fix them and installed GFI outlets in the kitchen to make everything safe. I highly recommend this company. They were thorough, efficient and cleaned up before leaving. read more

We recently had Norseman Electric install a dedicated 15A GFCI outlet on the outside wall of the side of our house, far from the circuit breaker box in the garage. We are completely satisfied with the excellent work performed by the two electricians who arrived at our house. Really great company, helped me over the phone during an emergency and were so awesome. Came out/gave us a quote and did a great job. Great pricing, really good communication and past inspection. Will say I don't feel like the guys who finished the job cleaned everything up which was a bit disappointing. There was trash (some job and some food) left in our backyard. We used Norseman electric based on positive reviews here and elsewhere to install a backup generator. The basic installation went ok hiwever we never knew when they'd show up or the status of the installation when they left. None of the installers could understand how to connect the wifi part and kept the unit off even though it was useable without wifi. I had to call Generac support to understand why the unit was off just because of wifi issue. They said it should be on. Lastly, Norseman electric never pulled the required permit. Their claim that they never had to before may have been true years ago but today, in ALL of our area, you need a permit. We had to go to the state contractor board to file a complaint and they STILL haven't submitted the documentation for a permit. For small jobs, they're fine but don't hire them for anything needing a permit. read more

While I understand electricians are in high demand in my area, this company is extremely unresponsive. After obtaining an initial quote and following up with the company for simple questions like a clarification on the quote and necessary permits, they become completely unresponsive. After multiple attempts to call and email over the course of almost two months, no response. Pricing seems to be very competitive but after getting similar quotations from other electric companies, I do have concerns around the scoping and ability to do more complex jobs. read more

This company went over and above. They saved us $500 by talking us through the issue over the phone and minimizing costs from someone coming out. Not all issues can be resolved this way, but our issue could be. They also gave us advice on how to make sure PG&E deals with the spike they caused at our meter's breaker. read more

When the rep arrived, he had 3 screaming kids (literally!) who proceeded to run around our yard. I'm very comfortable giving a strong positive recommendation for Norseman Electric. They have been to my home twice in the past couple of weeks to fix some problems that had a big impact on our home. One was a junction box of wires that I had attempted to fix myself, causing the loss of power in a good portion of the house. The other was a loss of power to the clothes dryer that turned out to be a major fire hazard that we didn't know about. Norseman was easy to schedule, responsive, on time and very pleasant. Made an appointment a week in advance, did not show up within our scheduled two hour window. Instead, the electrician calls me 15 minutes later asking if I still want them to do the installation, tells me that he'll be leaving his current install in a few minutes. I ask him where he was coming from and he tells me, the other side of Walnut Creek. Which would have put them at my address an hour later, minimum. I told them the appointment window was between 8 &10 am, he then argued, saying his appointment says he was supposed to be here at 10:30...I'm glad I had the email with the appointment window information from Cindy to double check. Had the guy not been dismissive, I probably would have been more agreeable. Under the circumstances, I decided to hire another electrician that was dependable. read more

Randy and his crew are the BEST! Recently at 1:00 A.M. a negligent neighbor's 60 ft pine crashed into our driveway and yard taking two power poles and knocking down all the wires with them. PG&E responded promptly and cut off the live wires hanging in the street- thank you PG&E- (you have had so much bad press lately, but you were fantastic in your response and the restoration of power for the neighborhood within 16 hours). Unfortunately our entire power box was ripped from our 70 year old home and we could not get power back until it a new one could be installed. I had never done business with Randy(Norseman Electric) but when I explained our situation he rearranged his next day's schedule and by the end of the day we had power. I hate to leave a bad review, but here's what happened. Last August, our living room lights blinked out. We checked the box for the lights and saw burns. We immediately shut off the electricity and called Norseman based on their excellent Yelp reviews. They came promptly on the weekend and at the time we were happy with their service, particularly their responsiveness. We ultimately paid them $800 to replace the box and for replacement bulbs. (We paid for 12 and got 11 plus an empty box, but I will take responsibility since I should have checked sooner.) Flash forward seven months. The same thing happens again. I called Norseman, and they called me back and said they would call back the same day to schedule sending someone over. They never called, and I called once, texted twice, and sent one e-mail. This was a week ago and they never responded. It turns out, they did not replace the wires to the box. The wires had been burnt. So eventually, the load on the burnt wires was too much, and the whole thing happened again. So my bad review has two components (1) I believe it is reasonable for them to have checked the wires and replaced them if they were burnt, and (2) Telling me they would send someone out to look, then ghosting me is not professional. I would have called another electrician sooner if they had simply told me no. Those are the facts. read more

Half of my house was losing power intermittently and I was at wits end. NEVER give Norseman Electric a call if you need an electrician! Our former electrician and his father had retired, so we looked for someone nearby. This company uses a UPS box nearby, I believe. Their estimate was double what our former electrician would charge, but we needed the work done. When the technician came, we modified the original work estimate because he found wiring close by that would be suitable. However, the bill was not adjusted when I asked!
