I don't know much about welding, actually I don't anything about welding but I needed some welding supplies for my work, I spoke to ken and he was very helpful, he even took the time to come out to my truck and look at my equipment to make sure it was set up properly. Ken and the other staff there all head great customer service and were very patient with all my questions. BACKGROUND: I needed more welding gas for a project and I had a work from home day, so went in during my lunch hour. SHOP This shop is located in Martinez and easily found right off the freeway. I just needed some welding gas for a bumper project. The transaction was pretty quick. Since my tank was old and hadn't been tested, they charged me a $25 tank swap fee, but I was ok with it because I got a new tested tank. The gas cost for a 105 cu tank was only a hair above $50. Talk about a hidden gem! I needed mixed gas for my new mig welder. I called airgas and was kind of taken aback by the prices as well as the upsell to buy a bigger bottle then i needed. With a not so good felling I decided to look around and little did I know there is an awesome welding shop just a couple miles from my house! Not only were the prices waaay cheaper but the place is stocked with every welding related tool and accessory imaginable. As an added bonus the guys working their were knowledgeable and friendly and walked me through each bottle size and explained the pro/cons. What can I say, one of the last independently owned welding supply store. The customer service is superior than most any other business I've been to. I came in today to upgrade a CO2 tank and the staff was very helpful and supportive. Their knowledge is awesome, one of the employees did not have an answer, he went and made a phone call and got the right answer. My husband is a self taught welder and is very good at what he does. I used to work around the corner from this place and one year for my honeys birf day I got him some new welding gloves and protective glasses. Since he welded one of the fingers of his old gloves at a 90 degree angle, it was time for him to get some new gloves. I got him the heavy duty leather ones and some lighter fare for grinding and lighter type metal work. I also bought us some really cool purple earplugs. Some for his garage and some for home just in case we go to a concert or something. Some how the batch of ear plugs I bought last year are all missing. So I had to come back and buy some more because of the Metal concert we were going to the following weekend. I had ordered some vintage looking welding goggles in February and they never called to let me know they came in. That's fine, its not like I'm not going to shop here again. Its very obvious that women don't come in here very often. Its cramped and dusty and definitely a Man's Man kind of place. Except for the way ward cat that follows you around while perusing. Its so sweet. Ill be doing more Christmas shopping later this year. read more

These guys are the best in customer-service and pricing!!! I dropped off an empty 125cf bottle outside and went in to pay for a refilled swap. Was in and out in less than 5-minutes! Came outside to find that they can't swap my cylinder because I had "rented" or "leased" it from the other larger monopolistic corporate outfit. They promptly refunded my money without any hassles. These guys are awesome, father son owners, Chris and Joe, go out of their way to insure you're satisfaction. They are soooooo much better than "The Other" corporate welding supply place in Concord. Their prices are very competitive and they cram more stuff into their little show room, truly 10 pounds of sugar in a 5 pound bag... everything conceivable that could be related to welding. They are also the most competitive supplier for propane I've found. I had a very positive experience with this store. My father who is 97 broke his leg brace. The aluminum plate/rod that was attached to the knee hinge area had snapped creating the need to weld a 1 inch wide length of metal. Since the brace was an old custom model, there was no easy answer as to who could repair this without going to several welding shops. I stopped in this welding supply store thinking they could point me in the right direction. Upon entering, the men at the counter stopped what they were doing and viewed the picture of the metal break I took on my phone. They immediately knew who could fix it, called Chappa Welding to see if Danny the owner would do it and gave me the address, phone number and directions to this welder on Howe in Martinez. Danny at Chappa Welder was able to fix the brace overnight for a very reasonable fee. Without East Bay Welding Supplies expertise and contacts, this would have been a very expensive and lengthy process to get this fixed.
