Convenient location and reasonable prices on stone and soil products. It is a no frills materials depot, staff is helpful.

After a frustrating experience ordering a sliding door from Home Depot, I found Dolan's Lumber,…read moreWindows and Doors. From the start, their customer service was outstanding. They responded quickly to my inquiry and every follow up email I sent. Brian went above and beyond to help me, and even shared my situation with Milgard. He was also very knowledgeable and recommended upgrading the screen door for the slider since the standard one can feel a bit cheap, and suggested upgrading the glass to help with temperature regulation. He also gave me a quote for the exact door I originally ordered from Home Depot, in case I didn't want to upgrade anything. I really appreciated the time he spent helping me, especially since it was just one slider door. Excellent customer service. They definitely have my business going forward. Highly recommend!

We visited Dolan's at both the Walnut Creek and Concord locations on two separate occasions while…read moreshopping for doors and windows. In both instances, there were multiple employees working at the front desk area on their computers. While they may have been busy, no one acknowledged or greeted us when we walked in. Even a simple "Hi, we'll be with you shortly" would have gone a long way. My wife spent about 10 minutes browsing the showroom during one visit and we still were not approached. We ultimately left both times without speaking to anyone. We understand that some showrooms operate by appointment, and if that is the standard protocol, that is perfectly fine. However, a quick greeting, asking whether we had an appointment, or offering to schedule one would have created a very different experience. We did not have this issue at Golden State Lumber or Ashby Lumber, where we were promptly acknowledged and assisted. Unfortunately, based on our experience, we will be moving forward elsewhere.

She came up with some innovative ideas for custom closet doors and also helped with some standard stuff too. We price/product shopped a few places. Dolan's was comparable to the others but none of them had someone who was as detailed and helpful as Jennifer. She also helped us with refund on an item that came from one of her vendors. The build is done and Ma is very happy with everything! We would recommend Dolan's!

I had a great experience working with Mike Madden at Dolan to order windows, a bi-fold door,…read moreskylights, solar tubes, interior doors, a front door, and door hardware for my whole house remodel. I walked in not knowing much about windows. Mike patiently answered all of my questions. Once I decided on Marvin Ultimate windows, Mike worked in a very detailed and organized way to get the proper measurements from my window installer and to finalize the many design decisions that I needed to make. This was a huge purchase and I appreciated how much time Mike took to make sure I got exactly what I wanted. After the window order, Mike worked with me for months to order the other materials. He also took great care. For example, he helped me order custom pocket doors with stile and rail sizes that match my other interior doors. He helped me problem solve. For example, the bottom of my interior doors needed to get cut because of my contractor's framing and Mike explained how I could do that without damaging the door. Overall, Dolan Lumber and Mike were invaluable for my whole house remodel. The difference between Dolan and other stores is that Dolan will respectfully and carefully work with you to get you what you want.

The weeds in my front yard were overwhelming and not very attractive, but I was indecisive about what to do. The one thing I DID know was that I wanted something low maintenance and didn't require water. My neighbor suggested that I try landscaping rocks in my front yard. And recommended that I call Macalvey's Nursery because he had a great experience with them as well. Upon arrival, I was greeted by Juan, the manager and his staff and shared my ideas. They gave me a lot of great ideas and showed me different types of gravel and rocks and offered their expertise about how I should handle all the prep work. I would give them 10 stars if I could! So if you're looking for a nice friendly place with good ideas and service and lots of different gravel, rocks, and landscaping options----- THIS IS THE PLACE FOR YOU!

We moved it ourselves using 3-gallon buckets -- exactly 225 buckets total. That equals about 90 cubic feet, which is only 3.3 cubic yards. For comparison, 5 cubic yards should be 135 cubic feet. We were almost 2 cubic yards short. When we tried to resolve this, my husband even went in person and was willing to pay again for the missing amount just so we could finish our project. Instead of making it right, they told us we'd also have to pay another delivery fee and completely denied that they had shorted us. When I called to follow up, I was brushed off. This was very disappointing. Not only did we not get what we paid for, but the company refused to take responsibility. As I can see there are similar issues reported by other customers here.
