Been visiting the East Cafe since I was little and there is a reason it has been around so long! Delicious, traditional Chinese food for a great price. The atmosphere is inviting to singles, couples and families alike and is always full of customers. The Salmon Fried Rice, Combination Hurricane, Sesame Chicken and Hot and Sour soup are just a few of my faves from the menu. The staff is warm and accommodating too. Went here with three buddies. Ordered the pork lo mein and was expecting thin yellow noddles. Instead I got some thicker looking rice noodles. The food itself was not half bad. Maybe a little too heavy on the peppers for my preference. But, the service was very speedy. Price was decent too. Kind of weird the restaurant has no windows for you to peek into the location. A local resident first brought me here a couple of years ago, and we've made it a regular stop when we visit Denver when we are wanting some good Chinese food at a great price. I'd say the average meal is priced at around $8! Pretty hard to beat that! I love the hurricane beef, sesame chicken, and lemon chicken--not that crazy about egg foo yung but that was the only thing I've tried and did not like. okay, the people were nice and friendly, but my problems are strictly with the food. ordered a sesame chicken, and chicken fried rice with egg rolls. the sesame chicken was a bit tough, very ugly pieces put into this dish, along with it being over battered to conceal this also it had come with a dry noodle (I'm very accustom to rice with this dish) and the portion was very small for the price the container was about half full. and the sauce was rather flat tasting. the chicken fried rice again very small portion, and very oily. would I give them another shot? yes, almost every place deserves a 2nd chance but you have been warned. read more

After reading the reviews we were weary about coming here for lunch. We had both got the sesame chicken off the lunch menu. It came with a lot of food/ varieties. It came with a side chicken salad, egg roll, chicken wing and amazing sweet sauce. I'm not an egg roll fan but I could've ate ten from here. The rice was cooked perfect. I know that everyone has a different preference and taste. Everything was fine, except the main meal. I ordered the sesame chicken. It was way too sweet for my liking. I gave some to my wife as well, and she said the same thing it's just too sweet. My preference is bold with vinegar hot and spicy. This dish had neither. I just have to give this place a shout-out. I remember the first time I stepped into this restaurant with my family about 15 years ago and every time I go back to Denver to visit (I live in NYC), I make it a must to come eat here! As a New Yorker, we pride ourselves on having some of the best food options at our fingertips, but I can definitely say no other Chinese place I've had out here can compare to East Cafe in Aurora. The Mongolian Beef is my favorite dish and if you come for lunch and get the salad as an appetizer instead of the soup you will be pleasantly surprised by the delicious taste of the dressing. We have been eating here for over 20 years. Obviously we like the food. This review is not anout the food. This is about the service we didn't ever get. Walked in on a Thurs around 2:30. There had to be between 10 and 15 tables with customers and 1 server. We got our water and tea quickly. And we waited, and waited.....now that server was kicking butt , but.....it was just to much for her with no help from anyone running food, or taking orders. The busser was doing her job. But the management walked through the restaurant on numerous occasions taking customers money, noticing we hadn't been waited on for 15 min. And never once did she come over and say anything. She could be the owner now. She's there all the time. So I noticed her walk into the side room and never come out. We decided to leave as I had to go to work soon. As we walk out we see her sitting down having lunch. I walked over and let her know why we were leaving. She had the nerve to say "" The server is really busy". And my husband replied ...yes she is! Thanks to no help from you while you sit here and eat your lunch! Now we are in the restaurant and bar business. If we Sat and ate lunch while a coworker was slammed and customers were not being taken care of we would have been fired. As she should be. Teamwork makes the dream work. read more
