I started going to Sun Wah over 20 years ago. Sad to say, that's when it was at its best. I have gone twice in 2025 and was disappointed each time, despite ordering the same dishes that I've had previously. The service was fine , only had to wait about 10 minutes for my to go order. I got the lunch sweet and sour shrimp with egg fried rice and cheese wontons. The shrimp was just "0k", but the brown fried rice was awful! It had no flavor whatsoever and was all one color: Brown. And the cheese wontons were way over cooked. When I ordered food I got a soup for lunch and they forget to put a spoon in my bag I came back inside to ask for one and the lady working in front said she wasn't gonna give me a spoon that they can't afford to hand out any more she said I can slurp my soup.. she was so rude and didn't even greet either when I ordered my food by the way the food is very over priced and bland the noodles were a mess with meat that was hard and old and the vegetables tasted ransid I should've known they don't good quality food when I seen the worker with a bucket asking wing stop next door to borrow some ice . This place really surprised me. We live nearby but hadn't stopped in or ordered food because of the low ratings and poor reviews that we had read. We have tried numerous Chinese places in Denver that were just awful. We were really missing the Chinese food from back east, had a craving and decided to give it one last shot at Sun Wah. Usually when I order takeout, even if it's a place from right around the corner, it's not hot enough for me when I get home and I have to microwave it. All of our food was HOT. A plus for me! Our Sesame Chicken was cooked nicely - crispy on the outside! I was very happy to find that they gave us DUCK SAUCE in the bag, that I like to use on my egg rolls. All of the Chinese places that we visited around Denver in the past had no idea what duck sauce is ??? The prices are fair and the portions are large. The ambiance is okay they have updated in years so yeah and the toliet is very jacked up and yucky but what ever. This just goes beyond getting ripped off.. I accepted your 3.00 delivery fee and even the fact I'm way over paying for a small shrimp lo mein and fried dumplings(which you should be ashamed of) for $24.51. But.. to give me a couple of handfuls of popcorn shrimp instead of the normal size shrimp as it's always been... I'm done with delivery. My family came here after our drive from another state. Quick and friendly service. I ordered the udon with shrimp and thought it was tasty! Portions were a good size, but nothing really wowed us. Don't think I'll be coming back because there are better options out there, but this place was nice for a quick dinner. read more

EXCELLENT CHINESE AND ASIAN FUSION FOOD, small dine-in area (not sure about during pandemic) but they do LOTS of takeout. There's always somebody sitting down to wait for the food they just ordered, but it only takes five minutes. Or call in anytime, and it's usually ready by the time you get there! Yummmmeee! My wife loves their Teriyaki Beef (they make it NOT-SPICY at her request, doesn't take any extra time), and I especially love their Hunan Beef and Hot & Sour Soup! Our favorite delivery Chinese restaurant is closed right now, so we gave this place a shot. Before we tried a bite, my husband commented that none of it "looked" right. He was correct. The fried rice was all one color of brown with no sign of any other ingredient but rice. The Orange chicken was flattened 50 cent piece sized hard chicken? And the pan fried dumplings looked like little greasy empanadas but tasted like hard greasy bread. When we called to report to them how poorly it all tasted, they asked if we had a problem with the delivery. We picked up. We threw the whole 30$ away. We are eating at this restaurant from past 20 years. It was very good initially. Later years go by it was OK. Last night we went for dinner and food was awful. We decided not to go any more. When we complained that fried rice was not good and the rice was over cooked, the server lady said that she will redo and took that fried rice into the kitchen and after few minutes she bought back same dish with a new lid and when I asked it is not good either, she was saying that today rice is not good. Definitely one of my favorite Chinese restaurants in the area. If you want some quick, cheap, and fast Chinese cuisine, I would definitely recommend this place. The portions are pretty big and you definitely get your money's worth. Take this place for what it is, its Chinese fast food. Mostly go here for quick Chinese food takeout. The lo mein is a little on the salty side. But I do like the taste overall. My wife prefers sesame chicken. I generally go with the lemon chicken or Chinese bbq beef. I would really only recommend for takeout, not dine in. read more

Customer takeout order: I waited about 20 minutes for cook to return, which might have just been a break for him. Cook entered restaurant front door, went to the cooking grill, immediately I stated, "Please wash your hands," after he bypassed the sink. He did comply, with a water-rinse only, sans soap. Ya know, I don't even remember the food. . . This was the closest place when we moved into our house and the atmosphere was so dreadful that I would have rather have stayed home and unpacked boxes and been hungry. Big handwritten sign "IF CUSTOMER MAKES MISTAKE ON ORDER, YOU PAY." I guess somebody must have mistakenly said they wanted chicken lo mein, then changed their mind? I don't know, but I wish I'd taken a picture of the sign. Because our new house was chaos, we dined in. It's fast food, it's fairly priced, I didn't get sick. That's really all I can ask for from Sun Wah. I had their lo mein twice now and both times I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of meat in there. I am however a little skeeved out about the "egg" in their egg fried rice, but not skeeved out enough not to eat it apparently. I had their orange chicken, wasn't what I expected but didn't taste bad, it tasted pretty decent actually. This place has pretty mediocre reviews, but last night I was discussing it with my boyfriend and we realized that probably means it is the best Chinese restaurant in Denver because so far we have tried many of the "best Chinese Food in Denver" restaurants and they have pretty much all sucked or been meh at best. Sun Wah has duck sauce and also chicken rice soup which both cause unheard of confusion at most Chinese restaurants I go to here. For those of you who are from Denver or other parts of the midwest and don't know what chicken rice soup is, I will explain it. You take a plastic takeout container, eithe pint or quart size. Then you put in some chicken broth, some white rice, a few pieces of shredded chicken, and a couple scallion slices for garnish. Then you say here you go customer here is some chicken rice soup that will be $1.95-$5.00 depending on size and what type of restaurant it is. That is all I want. Thank you Sun Wah for making it happen. FYI, in other cities, it's not always on the menu but since it is literally some chicken broth and rice they will usually make it for you and call it a day instead of telling you it's impossible to make. read more

Cheap and fast is rarely good and unfortunately Sun Wah is far from good. If you are looking for something to quiet a ravenous hunger and neither flavor nor ingredients matter this place will do the trick. If you are looking for quality ingredients and genuine flavors don't stop. It is very unfortunate that the vast majority of strip mall Chinese food joints don't seem to care. I know this place has been around for a long time and a lot people in the surrounding area think of it as their go to Chinese restaurant, but if you have any experience with genuine Chinese food it is obvious that this is not it. I wish they cared and I wish it was better. There are barely any good Chinese food restaurants in Denver. I will say that they do not mess up the frozen dumplings that they heat up and sell. If I could have given two and a half stars, I would have. But in the interest of fairness, I thought I'd just round up. The ladyfriend and I decided to splurge and get some Chinese tonight (we're pretty regular gym goers and usually eat pretty healthy) and had read some good reviews on CitySearch (note: Don't trust CitySearch, trust Yelp.) Reviewers raved about the egg rolls. Eggrolls? Egg-rolls? Those things. They were mediocre. The pork ones were better than the veggies ones. She had Beef with Chinese vegetables which she described as "satisfying." (she did go back to the container for a little more.) I had orange chicken which was better at the end than it was at the start. The spice in the sauce took a minute or so to kick in, very sweet and spicy. Kudos for that. Crag rangoons were bland...not very crab filled. But basically if you're frying something, I'll enjoy it, so I can't complain too much. Price was decent. About the same as you'd expect anywhere else. They DO have small and large portions which is nice, and not something I've seen at many Chinese food restaurants. The small portions were plenty big for us (with some white rice, an egg roll, and a pair of rangoons) and we definitely have leftovers for two. So the portions are well-sized. We paid $20 for all that, and that's not bad for four total meals. I've had better Chinese food, (namely Hoong's down in the DTC) but if you live in the Glendale-ish area, s'not a bad place to get some quick grub (only 10 minutes for our order!) They do takeout and Delivery...I'm not sure if they have Dine-in, I didn't happen to look. read more

I have ordered delivery twice from Sun Wah in the last couple of months. The first time, I had General Tso's chicken (sub fried rice), and tried some of my girlfriend's lo mein, both of which impressed me. There was a lot of flavor in the food, a good sweet heat to the chicken and the noodles were tasty as well. The second time, which was last night, was a wholly different experience. We ordered Gen. Tso's with fried rice again, but with some egg rolls, and steamed wontons. The dumplings had a powder sprinkled all over (MSG? Bonito? It was EXTREMELY salty), they came in a box with goopy brown liquid, and had zero texture. I couldn't eat them from the gross overuse of salt. The egg rolls were disappointing as well - soft, undercooked dough and flavorless filling. No homemade sauce, just a packet of duck sauce to cover it. Crab wontons included with the Gen. Tso's were similar. Same story with the chicken: overdone, chewy, too much breading on the meat, no spice. The only thing that was consistently decent on both orders was the fried rice. I was excited to try Sun Wah again after my first order from them, but to say this was a disappointment is generous. Two stars, only because of my first experience there. read more

I lived in the Oneida Apartments right next to safeway and sun wah seemed to be a decent chinese restaurant. The food is good but prettty oily. My biggest problem and the reason I am giving them 2 starts is because they are cheap. The soda is watered down and seemed like everytime i went i had to go back and correct my order because they would "forget" to put a steamed rice in the bag or a "forget" the eggrolls. Im not kidding it happened literally everytime and I ate there often with the hopes they would get it right because the food is decent. I don't know, its worth a try but be weary. read more
