Very disappointed, Eastcoast lumber used to be such a convenient and dependable option in the area. Sadly, the past few years has seen customer service tumble downhill. They do not respond to email, I've sent 2 in the past 2 weeks and I have yet to get a response. Attempted to order wood pellets online, no response or confirmation, I ended up buying 2 tons elsewhere. Tried twice to reserve/rent equipment online, never heard back from them. Went into the office ant the person at the counter quoted a price that was $50 per day higher. When I countered with the online price, I was told that sometimes the prices online are wrong. Again, sent an email requesting clarification on the pricing, still waiting. The published pricing discrepancy is very concerning, and I was actually hoping to resolve this before going to the BBB or NH Consumer Protection office. I am really sad and disappointed as I would much prefer a local option to the Big Box options. They are closer to me and far more convenience. Unfortunately, If I'm going to pay higher prices I do expect better customer service. If there is NO added value, I'll just drive the extra few mins to Plaistow and pay less for the same mediocre customer service. I bought a propane grill there 2 days ago and I had it delivered. When I tried operate it I noticed the burner was not connected properly. I called them back to see how or if they could fix the problem. I was told that they would get back to me. Today I went back to see what they were going to do about the problem. Patrick Sheehan listened to my situation and he said give me 10 minutes and I'll be there to make right. He connected the burner properly and safely. Prices are about 10% on average more than home depot, however if you shop here a lot, I recommend getting an account (free) so you can get discounts and coupons. They have lots of good stuff here, though the section upstairs looks like the kind of place where you could spend $200K remodeling your kitchen. I was there a few weeks ago and sat with a woman in their window and door department about getting replacement parts for my Andersen door - she told me how to measure the door properly and told me to take some pictures and bring it all back and they could look up the product and see if parts were available. So I showed up today to be told they absolutely could not help me as they have not been an Andersen dealer for about 5 years. I bought $300 worth of pipe 4 inch perforated and I had to return some of it I paid cash I had my receipt it was 15 days after I purchased it and it was a big problem the manager wanted to give me a store credit and I did not want a store credit at this point he started rolling his eyes at me telling me this is unbelievable you expect us to give you $285 cash. Knowledgeable, dedicated, and hard working employees who will load 2,000 lbs of concrete bags by hand, one by one in 100+ weather if a fork lift can't get it into your truck. They have great stock, will cut boards and plywood for you, and make deliveries to wherever you want. You want those 6 tons of wood pellets by your back door? They will do everything they can to do it. The people inside are knowledgeable and will do their best to help you figure out what you need if you are in a bind. Never been to a more friendly place. east coast lumber may be a good place to do business,,but the rental center is definitely not a place you can put your trust in! i brought a dewalt framing air tool there to be repaired and they said it needed a complete overhaul. i paid them $190.00 and it had the same problem when i went to use it, took it back, then they said it needed more work, i complained to the lumber store general manager. so the said $30.00 more and they will fix it. it's been 3 months and it's still not done. i had to buy a new one to do my work,but definitely not from them! so i would suggest you have your tools fixed elsewhere unless you want some frustration in your life !! read more

I have shopped at East Coast for many many years. It is important to support local business. Recently I had my mower serviced and returned. As I had this service performed many times, I thought nothing about it until I started up the mower for the first cut of the season last week. Wheels fell off and within a few minutes the mower caught fire. I know this does not sound positive, but after several phone calls and trips to the Equipment Center, and a polite discussion with Dave and Don, management and I came up with a solution that was fair and solved the issue. This review is not a 5 as I would definitely have preferred not to go through this aggravation and inconvenience in the first place. Lumber and building supplies tend to run about 10% less than Home Depot and the selection/quality is usually better. Only once did I get a load of garbage studs from them. They allowed me to return the whole load and I was pleased to see that the next month the 104 5/8 studs had gone up in price but they were also sourced from a different mfg. I'd gladly pay a little extra if it means less headache and better productivity for my finishers. They also have a good selection of hardware and tools. Some things - like nails, screws, etc. are actually just a bit cheaper than Home Depot. Other things, like spray foam, etc. tend to be higher by about 10% but I'm happy to pay a little extra here and there given what I save on lumber. I also like the service. read more

I went to this store to purchase some wood paneling. I was the only customer in the store and there were literally 8 employees "working". I asked for help at the front desk where I was directed to the back of the store. I stood at the back of the store staring at 2 employees who were having a personal conversation and had no interest in helping me. I got bored of listening to them so I went back to the front of the store where I tried to ask for help again from 1 of the 3 employees there but they were more interested in taking a phone call. I can only assume that because I am female they didn't think I was a legitimate customer. I will be shopping elsewhere where customer service is more of a priority. read more
