After septic issues, we hired one of the bigger companies who came to evaluate the issue. After extensive digging, they insisted a new tank was required and submitted a proposal. We ended up getting other quotes and Dan came over and spent time with us going through the process and was knowledgeable and thorough. He recommended that there was no immediate urgency for installing a new tank. Dan gave us a better quote, and when the spring comes, we are going to hire HIM to do the work. read more

I would recommend East Coast Septic to anyone who needs their septic tank replaced. Dan and Jim were an absolute pleasure to work with, professional, knowledgeable, and generally experts in their field. The brothers came on time, did what they said they were going to do, had the best price, did it really well, and cleaned up the site beautifully. We needed to replace a septic tank that was over 70 years old, but the new one had to be at least 10 feet from the house. They dug an area for a new tank, moving some huge boulders, but hit some bedrock. No problem. They brought in a machine to break it up, and were able to place our new tank in, bringing us up to current code. Afterwards, Jim moved boulders around to pretty up the place, seeded the lawn, and covered it with hay. We added onto the job with the delivery of gravel and he spread it around exactly the way we had wanted it. Experts! read more

Lets face it....needing attention or repair to your septic tank/field problem is NOT a pleasant subject. But these guys...(Brothers Dan + Jim) will get you thru it....with Knowledge (they've clearly seen it all), Skill (they have the equipment + manpower) and finally, at a reasonable, fair Price. Plus they'll be the ones actually doing the work at your site...they are 100% hands-on....and will confer with you for best options and work execution. I hired Dan and Jim back in 2010 to fix a septic field issue on my previous house, they needed to put a brand new french drain around the property and they did a superb job at a cheaper rate than the rest of the quotes I received. We never had an issue with the septic field after that. A year later I hired them again to fix an existing drain around the house that wasn't working properly, and again they did a superb job. Excellent experience after interviewing several construction companies. Estimates were getting more involved and expensive introducing electricians or engineers and the cost prohibitive. After a phone conversation, Jim promptly showed, assessed the situation and gave me an explanation and an estimate I could live with. I'd already spent almost $2000 marking the electrical lines, plumbers and septic pumping. Jim did the work just as promised and completed it promptly and efficiently. We discovered we needed a new dry well installed to handle gray water from a washing machine and basement sink. We had a clogged gray water line that was causing water to back up and come out of the floor drains in our basement and soak the floor. It's an older house and we weren't sure how the drainage pipes were set up. First, Gualtieri helped us troubleshoot the problem and recommended an expert snake/drain company to unclog and video the entire gray water drainage line. Really, really good idea and gave us a concrete map of what was underground. Among other things, it turned out there was also a rainwater leader feeding into the same washing machine drainage pipe as well as gray water from our a bathroom shower/tub and sink inside the house. Next, they helped devise a plan to reroute the bathroom water in the basement (to our septic) as well as the rainwater leader outside (to a new dedicated rainwater pipe) and then install a 660-gallon dry well for the washing machine and basement sink. Finally, they did the dry well install in one, short day with just the two brother/owners, no other workmen. Jim ran the digger with expert care. He minimized disrupting shrubs, trees, ground cover, and moved one large bush and delicately worked around another. He patiently discussed with me the best plan for the dug-up dirt (which was the biggest technical challenge) and came up with a perfect solution which included moving a couple of large piles of sticks and dead branches. The work done was right alongside our driveway and they did not leave a single mark on the asphalt, nothing. They threw grass seed on the bare ground and two-weeks later it's like they never were here. Jim and Dan are not only extremely competent at what they do, they are also honest, straight-forward, do not BS, and are genuinely nice guys. Gualtieri rocks! read more

We had a backup in our main line that flooded our tub and toilet. This happened as we were heading into the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. Fearing we wouldn't be able to find anyone to come soon, I asked one of my neighbors if they knew of anyone reliable who would get us out of jam in a hurry. They suggested Dan's team at East Coast Septic. Sure enough, he had someone there within hours. They came fully prepared with snakes, cameras to send down the pipe, and God knows what else. It was clear these guys knew what they were doing and came ready to tackle whatever issue they encountered. A few hours later they were all done. They gave us a thorough explanation of what happened and charged a very reasonable fee. Our toilets never flushed better since we've owned the house. We were told by a different company we had to pay thousands of dollars just to investigate what was wrong with our septic system because water was not draining properly and was backing up into our basement. They gave us an estimate of almost $20,000 and told us that the initial payment of the investigation charge would be added to our ultimate scope of work if there was anything that needed replacing. Still I felt $3,000 just to find out what was wrong was an outrageous amount of money. We called East Coast Septic and Dan was amazing help! He told us that to investigate the septic they charge much less than that and also, the whole system should we need it, would be a whole lot less than the other company. He recommended someone that would look at the pipes and also to pump the tank. Once we got the tank pumped, the hose from the truck pulled a huge clog that was on the pipe right by the tank and everything started flowing right away! We dogged a bullet and with Dans guidance we got lucky. We still will have whom recommended come to flush and inspect the pipes tomorrow but we are so grateful to Dan for all his help. I am so happy to find that he actually really cares about his clients and is not just another salesman trying to get you to buy things you do not need. That is real honesty. After several days of water pooling in my garage and a strong foul oder I called Gualtieri thinking I had a septic issue. Dan and Jim showed up within a short time of my calling them and I cannot thank them enough because what I actually had on my hands was a very serious and very dangerous propane gas leak which was causing the foul odor. They were so professional, kind, and concerned and made sure I called my propane provider and had the gas turned off immediately. I truly cannot thank them enough. Naturally, Christmas Eve we found water coming into our basement. After the septic was cleaned we found we had a broken pipe from the house to the septic. I am the person who seems to never have a good experience with contractors. East Coast Septic was a pleasant and welcome change. One local septic company didn't finish the job and never returned our calls to come back, leaving us with broken fields. We were forced to interview many companies (6): some inflated the problem, others inflated the price, others offered inferior materals. I was feeling beaten by all the nonsense. Dan and his brother came out; assessed the different possibilities; came up with a couple of estimates based on what could happen; listed the materials being used; set an approx. date; confirmed the date; kept the date; showed up on time and professional; did the job with no headaches; kept to their time frame and kept to their price.
