Back in 2019, my pops- who is a paralyzed military veteran decided it was time to take care of his cremation matters. Instead of having the family burdened with additional responsibilities when his time comes- it was great to see him being proactive. And honestly, a huge relief, in my opinion. Back then, and to this present day- he's been living in a facility that takes care of his daily needs. So, when I got his phone call that a representative from Featheringhill Mortuary would make the drive to him and get the paperwork started- pops requested my presence as well. So, I brought this up to my momma- (parents have been divorced for 30 years & actually have a friendship still). And she asked to be present as well, with pops approval. Had a representative not made the visit to his facility- we would have rented a mobility van, which isn't cheap to make such arrangements. The FM representative was patient and forthcoming when it came to explaining services, what to expect when payment is made, and why we would receive paperwork from a life insurance company. Since the arrangements have been accommodated for pops- momma has been interested in getting something very similar to his policy. As the years passed by, I have procrastinated in setting up the appointment for momma. We finally set one up and went to their location. I asked if they could retrieve pop's policy and we can piggyback on his arrangements. The FM rep was patient with momma, who has trouble at times understanding the English language. Her appointment took an hour. We didn't feel rushed at all. We booked our appointment first thing in the morning. Parking lot in the back, with some of the stalls looking very cramped. And off street parking on El Cajon Blvd. I'm most likely going to make my arrangements with FM very soon as well. read more

My uncle's wife recently passed away on the night of Christmas Day, and the next morning we decided to find a mortuary, but some were closed on Monday since people still have taking holidays break. We were lucky enough to find Featheringill, their service was fast and affordable as my uncle needed the money to pay for his wife funeral, they gave us a lot of options, and within the next hour they come to pick up the body, then we scheduled the following day for the final viewing, as of tomorrow Wednesday they will have her body cremated and contact us when the death certificate is ready. Although they don't have the traditional Vietnamese service nor anyone who could speak the language, I am glad to be there to help out, they were also very understanding, the viewing based on what we paid were only 30 minutes maximum with the capacity of 5 people. But we have more visitors than just family and friends, so they extended the time to an hour long, and gave us the entire room so we can have some farewell ceremony. I would recommend Featheringill for anyone in the future who need the service, I also would say try to keep the amount of people to about 10-15 guests as they have a small parking lot. read more

Wow! How great is it when someone will take time to not only respond to your message request but actually take time to research and give you pertinent information even though it's not their field of expertise? Very rare in most cases. I had in my possession my mother's cremated remains that I wanted to place in a crematorium or niche. Having it at home wasn't -in my opinion- the right and honorable thing to do so I called around to have it placed in a nice and affordable crematorium. Easier said than done as some of the funeral service companies just blew me off with comments like "No we don't do that. Good bye." My husband and I attended a celebration of life service at Feathergill recently. It was beautiful and nicely done.

Ok-this is long overdue and I feel like they should get some love too- considering the kindness they showed to me while we set up my loved ones final preparations and this was in 2020, during the sad Covid days. The cost was really good and the staff were very nice and compassionate. It's super hard to handle this stuff when everyone is in quarantine, and you're in mourning and they made it super easy for me to get it done. Most of it was done on the phone. Respectful family operation and much, much lower than another facility that was going to take his ashes out to sea for almost 1000 $ more. We were able to take care of this on our own in a special way. They took care of my aunt years ago, same great experience. read more

My parents have both passed away in the past 5 years. My father made all of the arrangements prior to his death including purchasing the insurance thru Featheringill Mortuary to pay for the expenses. I was impressed by how well Featheringill completed all of their last requests and the insurance covered 98% of all the costs. At the service they were accommodating and wonderful. I recently had to deal with a death in the family. I was overwhelmed with all the preparations since this was my first go at preparing a funeral. Went to about 4 or 5 funeral homes before I settled on Featheringill. It's smaller than the other places I checked out, but it was big enough to meet our family's needs. Cost was more than fair, but mostly importantly the service I received from Kori and his family at was exceptional. From the initial consultation to the final meeting, I could not have asked for a better group of people to guide my family through the dificult times. If you are ever in a similar situation, do your research and check out as many funeral homes to find the place to meet your needs. The staff help us from the time our love one passed away, had service at the mortuary and shipped to Vietnam for burial. The price was reasonable. The service was Buddhist, it's hard to find anywhere in town. I didn't like this mortuary for many reasons. The parking sucks and it's very cramped. It was disorganized. The one in charge, Rose, I didn't really like her approach very much. Food that was used as offerings during the funeral service was thrown away. Most people would have taken it home. There weren't enough tables and chairs when people had their lunch break. People were confused at where the location to enter the building were. Some entered through the back, some entered through the side during service, and barely anyone entered through the front. Also, lack of air conditioning. Literally, everyone was sweating in the viewing room. Another eye sore was that certain parts of the room was out dated and needs renovation. You could see water stains up in the ceilings and outside of the building, looks like a run down residential house. It's very dull looking. I guess fitting for a mortuary, right? During service people were getting lost with the scheduling, and sometimes, Rose, couldn't be found. There was a Hispanic guy who worked for the mortuary who was present the whole funeral service, but he couldn't help us because he wasn't responsible to manage the service. He was there to display and put away the body and casket. This mortuary needs improvement. read more

When my father passed away quite suddenly last month, my family was left with a lot of important decisions to make, and not much time to make them. Featheringill Mortuary gave us comfort, security, and options at an affordable cost (they were actually $1000 less for the cremation and urn than El Cajon Mortuary), and they do everything by the book. My father rests now in a beautiful zebrawood box on a bookshelf in my home, next to an urn in which rest the ashes of his favorite cat, Kazzy, just like he wanted. This was a wonderful experience considering the circumstances, such accommodating, wonderful people. My Stepson passed away, the social worker at the hospital called around, so many places gave crazy prices, but offered to price match if we got other quotes... really! A bit shocking to have to negotiate these things, Glen Abbey did that... so we are so happy that we came across Featheringill Mortuary, a great price straight away, they deducted things that we didn't need, the customer service was so warm and caring, you can really tell that this is a family owned business. After my previous review I was contacted by the mortuary and apologized to for the things I complained about. Tim asked if there was anything he could do to make things right. He stated that the fingerprints were on his desk and he would mail them to me if I would like and he also asked if we would like any additional pamphlets for the service. I said yes to both. He sent them both to me, which was appreciated. I am still unhappy about the slideshow , that we were unable to play and the music hookups (non-existent and did not work) to play the song we choose for the family funeral. I have to say sorry to the FANTASTIC team at Featheringill Mortuary they help our family with all of the funeral arrangements for my younger brother who passed suddenly back in March 2017 and I am just getting around to writing a review. All of the team from the first call late on a Friday night to picking up extra death certificates weeks latter were just the best. Lets just say the hospital gave us the standard list of most mortuary's around San Diego. I called a few other mortuary's they to me just sounded like sales people not very sensitive for the type of business they were in. HOWEVER Featheringill answered the phone and Kyle was on the other end of the phone he was very understanding and I asked if we could do the paperwork in the AM at first he knew that his schedule was booked solid for a Saturday but hearing my distress he offered to meet us at 7:30 AM to fit us in and take care of us. Kyle in person was GREAT never did he push to up-sale or play on our heart strings he listened to us and wrote up exactly what we requested. Walking out after we finished we felt such a sigh of relief that something we were dreading to do went so smoothly Kyle was such a great person thank you Kyle. But the great customer service does not stop there we called them with questions 4-5 times and every time the staff no matter what time it was during the day took the time and care to answer our questions. In wrapping this up if you are reading this review I know your pain how you feel and all the questions running thru your mind breath and do yourself a favor and call Fettheringill.
