Had my 2007 camry looked at and instead of charging me for a full diagnostic- they were honest and reported that it was a simple wiring issue, they tightened and ensured that was the only issue. I've been servicing our cars at East David for many years now, and I wouldn't trust them to anyone else. Their philosophy is to give people great service and to be honest with them, and I've seen this play out time and again. They'll never try to upsell you -- in fact, they do the opposite. They look for exactly what HAS to be fixed and educate you about what may be needed in the future. I once had to get my car towed to East David after it died in a parking lot. I was convinced it was the starter and told the mechanic (rookie mistake). He insisted it was just the battery and sure enough, he was right. My point is, many other shops would have followed my lead to get more money, but that is just not how East David works. You can be sure they're giving you the fairest, most up-front assessment and price. As a woman, that's especially important to me. I'm always at ease there in part because I know the staff will be respectful and not take advantage of my lack of automotive knowledge. They are awesome! read more

I just have to take a moment to gush about East David Automotive. You guys are AWESOME! I have never visited a more honest, low-priced business with the best of the best quality! I feel like family when I walk in now. I know I'm not the only one, everytime I'm there for simply an oil-change all the customers walk in like they are all friends or family. Before I went to EDA I took my Mazda to many places shopping for the best price with a place I can trust. No one has made me feel as valuable as East David. After reading the earlier review I'm not sure if I've been going to the same place? I've been a customer of East David Automotive for nearly 10 years. I started taking my car here when we first moved here from Arizona and was specifically looking for a shop that I could partner with for the care and maintenance of my families cars. We had that in Tempe, AZ at a place called "Classic Gold Automotive" (which I would also rate 5 stars by the way) and we wanted it as we moved cross-country to the Dayton area. EDA has not lest us down in that partnership. I've also found that the receptionists have varied over the years but I've never found them outright hostile...Everyone has bad mornings every so often! EDA was initially recommended to us by family members who have lived in the Dayton area for almost 30 years. I'll be honest and say I don't know how long it has been around (obviously more than 10 years and I think much more). The technicians at EDA are all certified in many different areas of automotive maintenance (the certificates are displayed in the waiting area) and that is what they focus on - they don't sell tires, they don't do body work. They keep the car maintained and running well. They make great recommendations on local businesses that can help with the other aspects - but they religiously keep to their core competency. Our experience with them has spanned from simple oil changes all the way through more significant mechanical repairs (brakes, cooling system, engine, etc.). We have been fortunate to not have any catastrophic problems with our cars (e.g. engine rebuilds, etc.) but if I did - I would take it to them. I have always found the quality of the repair to be very good and cannot think of a time that I had to take it back to resolve an ongoing issue. I can also say that they are competitive with their pricing, but not 'cheap'. They do a good job and charge a fair rate. Their strength in my opinion comes from doing what is needed, when it is needed. A pertinent example: My wife took her car to another regional shop (multiple locations) b/c her brakes were squeaking. The shop put it on the lift, looked at it and told her she needed breaks and rotors on all four wheels and that the steering fluid was leaking and that needed to repaired (the whole rack and pinion I think)...Sum total about $1500. I took the car to EDA and explained what had happened - they looked and found similar things, but their answer was "Front brakes need new pads and rotors turned, rear still have 40%. There is a small leak in the steering fluid at one of the seals, but it was barely detectable. They asked if we noticed any spots in the garage (which we hadn't) and suggested that it is possible that it is the seal contracting b/c it was very cold. They would not it in the record and watch it. The suggested that if we weren't noticing spots and there wasn't a noticeable drop in steering fluid level then it didn't need the repair." Cost to repair about $175 for the front brakes. Over the next couple oil changes they check and let us know that not only was there no change in the fluid level, there was no longer fluid leaking at the seal. Net savings $1325... So - to sum up - we have been very pleased with the partnership at EDA. They are extremely reasonable on price for their repairs. They are not always the lowest price (e.g. Oil Change may be a bit more expensive than Jiffy Lube, etc.), but they are far more reasonable than a Dealership on everything and for the typical maintenance they are often more reasonable because they do exactly what needs to be done with very high quality. They stick to what they do best and they give great recommendations for places to go to get similar quality service for the things they know others can do better. read more

This place is the worst!!!! The lady at the front desk had a bad attitude. And yeah they fixed my car and I mean I'm the kinda guy that can live with one or two things wrong but they messed up 7 THINGS on my car! My car is stick. They didn't use the e-brake or put it in gear so when I got in it. It rolled back and hit a rock, scratched the bumper. They didn't tighten the barring enough so it started squeaking. They didn't check the hoses and fluid levels like I asked and the belt for my water pump snapped. Had the oil changed. Didn't put a new sticker in. Didn't tighten one of the lugs all the way and it came off while I was driving in the highway (that was fun going across 3 lanes of traffic to get it). My gearshift we was glued on and I asked if they have anything stronger than use it. If not leave it be. The busted it and put it in my consult and didn't tell me so I thought they stole. But they broke it. Pretty much the same thing in my mind. And I had my favorite CD in the player and they could have just turned it down but no. They had to eject it and snap it in half. East-David Automotive is a pathetic excuse for a repair shop. I wouldn't even give them a one. I'd give them a negative 600 for their poor service and lack of care. read more
