I was highly impressed with this veterinary experience. I brought in my senior dog to get a problem checked out (I've never been to this location before. My dog used to go somewhere else), and everyone was very welcoming. When you get there, you park and tell them what parking spot you're in, and then they come and bring you and your pet in. My call was answered right away, and they came out to greet us within a few minutes. I really appreciated this as my dog sometimes gets overwhelmed around a lot of other dogs. With this set-up, my dog was able to stay very calm. When I got inside, it was instantly clear how much both the vet and the assistant cared about my dog. They prioritized her comfort and were very kind throughout. My dog's fourteen and losing her sight, so she can get scared easily by people touching her, but they were so gentle; she had zero problems! At one point, they had to take her for some testing which involved washing her face, so she got a little cold, and they wrapped her up in a warm towel straight from the dryer. It was so heartwarming to see how well she was being treated. In addition, I had a lot of questions about costs, and they took the time to explain everything to me. Disclosure: My rating is based only on a phone call and not services. I am new to the area and got a recommendation for this vet. I called to talk about their vet clinic and procedures. The woman who answered was not all interested in a new client. She rushed me through answers, cut off questions, and seemed utterly surprised that I would want to actually meet the doctor I'd be turning my pets over to for care. I get that they're busy but I'd waited on hold to talk to her, if she had such little time (less than 3 minutes) to answer questions maybe she should have left me on hold? I understand that this is during a pandemic so many places are doing curbside, but to not offer a virtual visit? No curbside visit? Sorry but unless it's an emergency like MedVet, I'm not handing my pets over to strangers without talking to them first. read more

I can't say enough about how wonderful Dr. Tom and all members of the East Hilliard family are. Not only are they incredibly skilled and professional, but they are tirelessly compassionate and kind to the humans and our pets. I am also a veterinarian, and I have often spent entire days in the back surgery area while my own cats have dental work done, so I can attest to the fact everyone on the team treats these babies with just as much gentle loving care behind the scenes as they do in front of their parents. The curb appeal alone of this place makes me Smile. I loved walking up to the front door and seeing all the gorgeous flowers in pots and sweet remembrances of deceased dog and cat names. Dr. Tom's staff is very pleasant and efficient. Dr Tom is fantastic. He has a sweet way with animals. He instantly bonded with my cat, Jesse, who was there to be evaluated for Stomatitis. Oddly enough, Dr. Tom didn't think he had the condition and instead referred me back to my Internal Medicine doctor in Cleveland to find out what else may be going on. I found him to be incredibly thorough. He is very kind and gentle with animals, too. I was glad to make the 2-hour drive to meet him and receive his professional opinion. read more

We started visiting them because, at the time, they were some of the only vets we could find who were knowledgeable about treating parakeets. Since then, we have moved on to a dog, then three cats. Through the years, our animals have received consistently excellent care from this office. Even as we have moved all over town, first in Gahanna, then in Powell, we continue to stick with them - wouldn't think of taking our pets anywhere else! read more

So this is the vet that Lori Keller referred me to from the Hedgehog Rescue where I got my three Hedgie Avengers. I had to take Loki in because she seems to be bleeding from somewhere and I want to make sure it's not serious. Apparently hedgies her age can be prone to cancer of their uterus. I also had to bring Thor here a few months ago to deal with a scab on his neck. In both instances we were greeted warmly, seen quickly and the vibe in the office is very cozy, like everyone really likes each other and their jobs. The waiting room also has bottled water which is always a plus for me! Loki was seen by a female doctor who's name I promptly forgot. She was super nice annnndddd she said Loki was really pretty Which I agree with but I am biased. I think Loki is like a Hedgie Marylin Monroe actually but I digress. She was checked out and seems fine so she will be on antibiotics for two weeks then see if she will need to be spayed after we see if she bleeds more. Which so far she hasn't I will take her back to be checked and update with pics! read more

I'm confused by the few bad reviews here as my experience was not even close. I found Dr Tom to be an awesome doctor, one of the best that I've met. I found his services to only be slightly higher than some others; however, you have to weigh what you get and you have to ask yourself if your pet, your best friend, is worth it. Other vets don't use current technology and thus are cheaper; however, your pet does not get the best of care. Using a laser for surgery is no doubt more expensive, but I felt at ease knowing it was less painful for my dog and he healed faster. A 10% higher fee is really not that much more. It's no were close to 3x like one reviewer claimed. Additionally, Dr. Tom was very transparent and communicative. He explained every single charge before it was ever done. He went line by line and explained what each item was and why he was doing it. My own personal doctor doesn't even do that. So for me, the extra 10% in cost for the extra effort was well worth the price. My Shitzu needed to have some teeth removed, and a previous veterinarian service, though they are good, did not make me feel comfortable. I was having a really hard time with the prospect of having his teeth removed. The other vet did not provide root canals so I was sent to Dr Tom. Even though ultimately the teeth had to be removed, Dr. Tom took a great deal of time to explain the entire procedure to me, why the teeth had to be removed, and what to expect afterwards. I felt so much more comfortable and I knew my best friend was in great hands. Even after the surgery Dr Tom was beyond awesome. He texted me the next day to see how Oscar was doing. Who does that now a days? I've never had a physician or a vet do that. Even when I had concerns after hours, he was there to answer my questions and help me feel better. You can't put a price tag on that type of service; I hesitate to even call that a "service" because that word has a cold feel to it, but what Dr Tom provides can only be described as brotherly love and compassion. It is a long drive for me to go to Hilliard, but after this experience I think I'll only take my two dogs to Dr Tom. Personally, I don't find his prices to be really that much more than anyone else, except for maybe a hack vet that I went too about 11 years ago. Dr Tom might be 3x the price of that particular vet, but that vet gave my cat one antibiotic pill to cure a urinary tract infection. So, I highly recommend Dr Tom to anyone that considers their pet's health a high priority. These little guys only live a short life, and for me, I want someone who is compassionate and genuinely cares for animals. For what you get, Dr Tom's prices are probably too low. I feel compelled to write more in an attempt to articulate my thoughts and feelings about this, but I just can't. Dr Tom's services go beyond words. read more

I have to give it to East Hilliard Veterinary Services, they really are a nice little gem for those looking to take extra care of their fur-babies. They've always been able to squeeze me in between appointments, too when my dog has had some minor issues. Their front desk here is also really friendly. That's not always the case at most Vets. If you sit in the waiting room for a bit, you'll see the ladies at the front desk addressing the pets by name when they walk through the door. They're pretty personal here, which may be a plus to some. They take extra care with my dog and are so kind to her, because my dog can be a major Butt-head when she wants to be, and she's mostly terrified of new places and new people. She just wasn't socialized well when we adopted her. For most part the place is maintained very well. I've seen some Vet offices that look scarier than a Petland corral, but everything is always neat and organized here. What's really nice is that they do offer A LOT of services here that most Vets do not, and a lot of it is new and cutting edge stuff like laser treatment, tear duct staining treatment, and more in-depth dental procedures, but unfortunately, the downside is that you'll pay for it. Vet bills here are NOT cheap. They're cheaper than Med Vet, but barely, but again, it comes down to what kind of care do you want for your pet? Do you want your pet to be just another number, or do you want a more personalized experience? I was here when a family was bringing in an older dog to be put to sleep. It's a sad and heartbreaking experience for anyone to lose a furry family member. The Vet's office offers a small clay pendants of your pet's footprint with their name on it. I know it's slightly macabre to some, but it's so sweet and such a nice gesture. That's why I really don't mind dishing out the extra dough to come here. From my experiences here, they really do care. I don't even really live near Hilliard anymore, but I'll still drive here to make sure my pooch is taken care of. My only qualm is that they don't have boarding here for when I'm out of town. I would whole-heartedly trust my pet here if they did ever offer that option. read more

I wish I lived closer so this could be my regular vet. I was referred here because my dog had a broken tooth that I wanted to check into saving since he's only 3. My vet in Findlay could only give the option to pull it. First, the staff was very professional and friendly, and seemed genuinely interested in my dog. Dr. Tom was thorough with explaining my options for my dog's broken tooth, and ultimately was able to save it. He went on to explain he would trim his nails , expel his glands, clean his other teeth, etc. since he would be asleep already. Dr. Tom even texted me later in the evening checking on my Dachshund post-procedure to ensure he was recovering well. Definitely would recommend to others! read more

We have taken our dogs and cats to this practice for several years now, based on a recommendation from a neighbor. We previously had poor treatment from Banfield. Whenever my dogs need major dental work, I come to Dr. Tom. He is an extraordinary veterinarian. I have a greyhound and they are quite different medically than other dogs. I trust Dr. Tom completely. He has done root canals on three of my dogs. The most recent was due to a serious injury to my greyhound's upper canine tooth. She had gotten it caught and pulled it 90° sideways, breaking the bone in her jaw. This was on the Friday night prior to New Year's Eve. Since I knew that this was a rare dental emergency I called Dr. Tom as soon as it happened at 7 p.m. He was scheduled to leave on vacation the following morning, but agreed to stay late to save my dog's tooth. He put her canine back in place and fixed her broken jaw. We followed that up with a root canal after the bone healed. As usual he followed up both procedures with a text. He was concerned about whether the tooth would survive so even had me take pictures and text them to him the following few days. Mind you, he was on vacation. I highly recommend Dr. Tom. He is well worth the little bit extra he charges than a non specialist veterinarian. read more

I have taken my pets here for a couple of years, and could not be more pleased. I had the sad experience this spring of having my senior (14 years old) dog's health rapidly decline, and Dr. Janelle could not have been more thorough, kind, and competent. She carefully took the time (past regular business hours) of explaining our treatment options, her recommendations, and called me at least three times over the weekend as we were struggling with the difficult decision whether to euthanize our dog or not. All of the staff are very friendly and warm every time we have been there. They could not have been kinder or more compassionate the day we had to put our dog down. read more

Dr. Tom is great - 5 stars, but cost is way too high for neutering. They try to run unneeded tests to run up the bill. Also, Dr. Chris was supposed to get back to us for eye problem on yellow lab (since she didn't know what it was) - she never did!! We didn't want to pay another office visit to see Dr Tom who would know what it is! We've been going for 14 years, but I guess it's time to find another vet. read more

Dr. Sue is incredible. My dog has some anxiety issues and I feel like Dr. Sue really "gets" her -- and even more importantly, she cares about her. She really seems to understand behavioral issues in dogs, in addition to understanding their physical health. I'm so happy to have found this office -- I know that my pets are in really good hands there. I hope nothing more serious ever comes up, but if it does, it's comforting to know that my vet is there for me. I just got a call from Dr. Sue on a Saturday to tell me the results of a recent kidney scan were clean. Talk about service. My poor cat fell off a 3-story screened in balcony which must have received a tear from the storm the night before. I was horrified and brought him in to see Dr. Tom Klein. After talking to Dr. Klein his assistant came in with a medical plan which I did not understand so asked to talk to talk to the doctor again. His assistant seemed upset I had follow-up questions and was not interested in "bothering" the doctor with my questions but I insisted as I am still cradling my poor little cat in my arms and wanted to make sure he was in good hands b/f I leave. Well after some time Dr. Tom Klein came in the room very upset and immediately accused me of "not following their procedures" (whatever that means) and said he can't treat my little guy if I don't do what he says. I was in shock - he didn't even ask what my question was just came in and kind of went off me while I am doing everything I can to ensure my cat get proper car. So since he refused to answer my questions, I had to leave and take my little guy to MEDVET in Worthington. So needless to say I am very unimpressed with this doctor. But on a good note, the Vet Techs and Doctor at MedVet were great. They seemed to really care about my cat's health and they even let me "in the back" to see my little guy b/f I left.
