My first transaction took place when the firm was in its early stages, and it was not a conventional sale. I was an out-of-state property owner looking to sell an unusual home in a part of town that was dealing with a lot of inventory and rapid change. Alison found the perfect buyer who happened not to have the perfect credentials to buy a home. Alison did not let that deter either party, however. She worked out a brilliant rent-to-own contract that provided a steady income for me while the client obtained financing, and helped me to sell the home successfully in under two years. My second transaction was slightly more typical. About two years ago, I again found myself being an out-of-state homeowner of a large house in Lakewood South. The home was just beginning to show signs of age as major rains and floods hit New Orleans. There was damage to part of one of the buildings that would have spelled nightmare for me had I not had Troy, who is also one of the most trustworthy, hardworking, and friendly human beings in the Greater New Orleans area. He arranged for a construction crew not only to patch up the issues but also to add improvements to the home, which I'm certain helped to sell it. All done with the proper permits and all for extraordinarily reasonable prices. Then both Troy and Alison helped to represent my interests with buyers who were aggressively trying to squeeze every last penny out of the deal. They used smart language in the counter offer that offered a fair solution to both the buyer and seller side of the transaction. However, the way the Barrios Real Estate Group helped during my moving out preparations is what is most impressive and memorable. Again, I live 1,300 miles away from this home, so traveling to the property to clean it out and pack my belongings wasn't going to be easy, especially over Memorial Day Weekend, the only time I could have a few days off work to do it. But with the Barrios Real Estate Group on my side, I didn't have to worry! They found friendly, inexpensive, and efficient vendors to deal with the clean-up, as well as storing and moving our remaining belongings. In addition, they found a title service company that was no-nonsense and accommodating. They even helped me to get some cash for some leftover furniture items that I didn't want! I can't say enough nice things about this small business with big talent and big impact. Throughout they are friendly and act intelligently, always with the client-friendly outcome in mind. They serve a diverse group of neighborhoods, price points, and types of housing. Their knowledge of and passion for real estate in New Orleans is amazing. I give them my highest recommendation.

So the search for a co-working space began. After almost 4 years of working remotely, I wasn't sure I would like returning to an office environment, but SCALE has been great. Perks of working from SCALE: * Members get 24/7 access and it's very secure! * Some of the desks have monitors! No more hunching at your laptop. * Telephone booths and conference rooms when you need a bit more privacy. * Well climatized - perfect for the summer heat or sweater weather. * The space is filled with plants; windows; local art; free espresso and coffee; and just the right amount of white noise. There's even a rooftop terrace just outside the kitchen. * The other members are friendly! They will talk to you if you want and respect you if you have jump on a call or get work done. * They will take deliveries for you. No more worrying about porch pirates. * Lyle, the owner, is often on-site and really cares about us. (awwwww) * There's even a shower! (But if you need a hairdryer, be sure to bring your own). Other things I've noticed - people are very friendly and welcoming. This is a place where you can come as you are. The diversity in the people make SCALE reflect some of their FLOR rug designs - they don't necessarily all coordinate, but somehow it works and looks good (see pic). Your network can really expand here as there are so many people with different work and life backgrounds. I did visit other coworking spaces, but the atmosphere was not as welcoming and felt a bit sterile. Couple that with too much hard concrete surfaces and I knew there would be an issue with noise.
