lived here for a year. overall a good experience. i moved to nola during covid and needed a safe and secure place to live. tbh, if it wasnt for covid i would have tried to live down near the city, but nothing has been going on there for over a year now, so seemed kinda pointless. make no mistake, bella ridge is def not nola living. you are pretty much in a middle of a industrial area living here. for some, getting away from the city is a good thing, but just keep in mind the location. the rent when i moved in was fairly low, about $1200 for a nice one bedroom. it has risen in the last year about $200-300 a month. so you are starting to get up there in price. the units are pretty nice, decent size with updated appliances. the staff is excellent. i had zero complaints, esp with the maintenance team. they respond almost instantly to maintenance requests. the community is okay. def a mix of diff types of people. try to get a 3rd floor unit because alot of noisy and loud people and you can hear everything through the walls. one thing i noticed is a decent amount of sports cars reving engines and speeding throughout the complex. also, an insane amount of pot smoking. sometimes the entire complex smells like a pot dispensary. ample garage/parking space..never really a problem to find parking. security is decent, but there have been several issues while ive stayed here. management called in a security guard for a week or so after one of the incidents and installed cameras on the gates. but overall i would say its a safe place to live. the main issue, and this out of managements hands, is the massive construction project literally right outside the gates. non-stop loud construction, and i believe it will last for years. i got lucky to get a place on the other side of the complex but if you do a visit here make sure you do it during a week day to hear and see the construction (they work on weekends too sometimes). this has basically rendered the gates a mess to get in and out of and also insanely loud at the pools and the one outdoor common area. also a giant poop plant is right outside the property so you will smell warm turds parts of the day when the wind blows right. there is also a beach volleyball place right in back of the complex which gets very packed at evenings and they blow whistles until after 10pm. can get annoying. also a confusing aspect of the property is that even though it appears as one apartment place, it is split into two different complexes (bella ridge north and south). im sure there is a reason for this but its kind of weird and awkward. for example, i actually live closer to the south pool but i cant access it. i can only access the north pool. you can also only control the entry gate for your complex. so many times someone came to the wrong gate and couldnt get in so had to call me and i had to get them to drive to the other gate. this should def be corrected as it is not an amenity, but simply an access point. supposedly the south units are nicer, but i def wouldnt pay more to live there esp since it is bordering the construction zone now. overall i would recommend living here if you wanted an escape from the city and are willing to deal with some of the annoyances. every apartment place in the world has annoying tenants and minor issues. i didnt ever encounter anything so negative i wouldnt recommend bella ridge. its unfortunate about the construction, but you would just have to see if it all balances out for you in the end. i am moving out of state, but if i had stayed, i would have probably tried a spot down near the city now that things are picking up a bit. read more

Moved in two years ago and it started out really good. Recently there has been a change in management and it has been problematic since. Dumpsters are constantly overloaded with garbage spilling out of them. Trash is all over the stairwells. Neighbors are grilling in the parking lot. It took two weeks for my maintenance requests to be completed as they stated they were not staffed. The complex is filthy. They stated that I changed my locks that were in fact never changed. I lived at Bella Ridge North for four years. Overall, I think property management did a great job at maintaining the apartments and buildings themselves clean and well-kept, including the common areas (pool, gym, walking areas, etc.) Any minor issues were resolved quickly and the ladies in the leasing office were polite and responsive. The apartments themselves were large and spacious. With that being said, over the past year there were definitely changes in who was coming and going/leasing the apartments. Noticeable differences in a higher police presence (I saw cop cars within the property gates four of five times in the six months up to leaving), random people walking around, being let in the gate who clearly did not live there, parking spots being taken by non-residents etc. Unfortunately my husband's car was stolen right from outside the apartment, on the top floor of the parking garage and several of our neighbors cars were broken into over an extended period of time. While, understandably not First Lake's fault directly, I feel like better measures could have been taken to provide a safer and more secure atmosphere, up to and including, cameras on every floor of the garage (not just where you enter) and better measures on securing the property for non-residents. When addressing the issue with corporate leadership the attitude was dismissive and very much "Not our problem" instead of "Hey, you've been a valued resident for x amount of years, we care about your business, these are the measures we are taking to improve". We had to follow-up several times not only with corporate but also with the "courtesy officer" on site, who I don't even know is a real person because he or she never reached out or contacted police. This is less about physical property and more about the attitude of the business/management and caring about resident safety. If people will steal in that close of proximity so brazenly it will probably escalate shortly into apartment break-ins. Overall, they have some major safety issues to work through. read more

I lived here for almost 4yrs entire front office of Leasing clerks need a reality check in Professionalism and a course in customer service. They need to be made aware they are Not the property owners they're the gossiping lap dogs who feel it necessary to speak rudely to hard working Military serving residents. A lesson in proper etiquette in interacting with the residence that don't owe them a Damn thing. apparently these ladies who deem themselves to be more relevant than they are have some of the nastiest attitudes I've ever come across . I've lived in more than one 1st lake property and, overall, I loved living in Bella Ridge North. We moved out because we purchased a home. Pros: 1. The layouts of the apartments in Bella Ridge North are superior to the newer apartements in Bella Ridge South. We considered moving into the newer apartments (right next door in seemingly the same apartment complex), but the layouts over there are odd. Its true what other reviewers on other websites say. If you have a king-bed furniture suite, it will not fit into any bedroom in Bella Ridge South. I met someone that encountered that issue with their bedroom/furniture delivery and setup. Whoops. If you want a quick comparison summary of Bella Ridge North and South: Amenities in Bella Ridge South are 10% nicer but your apartment is 10% crappier because of the odd layout. 2. The apartments themselves are really nice, overall. 3. Parking garage was a big selling point for us. 4. Amenities. Decent overall amenities. Any complaints I have are related to other tenants and not the property management. 5. Maintenance staff are absolutely amazing. Cons: 1. Noise. Every review that mentions noise is 100% correct. We know someone that worked on the apartments when they were being built and they told us that they did not put any soundproofing inbetween the floors in any of the buildings, except for some apartments in one of the buildings. For 1st and 2nd floor tenants: be prepared to know every intimate detail about your neighbors. When our AC wasn't running, we could clearly hear full conversations our neighbors were having. 2nd and 3rd floor tenants: WE CAN HEAR EVERYTHING! We could hear when our neighbor would flip a light switch and when they opened a dresser drawer, among other things. 2. The neighbors. This isn't 1st lake's fault, really. The dice is rolled with any neighbor you get. I had a nightmare neighbor that, among other things, constantly left dirty diapters out to rot in the hallway (the smell would eventually drift into our kitchen and living room), let their aftermarket car alarm go off at all hours of the night (echoes real bad in the parking garage), and let their dog pee on everyone's door on the hall. I also had a couple of really amazing neighbors. 3. The construction. Again, this isn't 1st lake's fault. But there is a lot of construction going on right in front of the apartment complex and it is doubtful that it'll be completed anytime soon. Again, overall, I enjoyed my time here. I've kept in touch with many people I've met here. Summary: Great apartment complex. Keep in mind the noise and the potential for your neighbor to know a lot more about you than you may want them to. read more

It is very clear that 1st lake does not care about its residents. It's definitely not a 'luxury' apartment. Of the seemingly endless list of issues, I'll name a few: - The majority of residents don't bother picking up their dog's feces. It's all over including right in the middle of the sidewalks. - We routinely found trash overflowing from the dumpsters, in addition to mattresses, large items, and bags split open around the disposal areas. - Our maintenance requests were deleted without resolution. But when they were addressed, it would take weeks. - It really felt like the management staff turned over monthly, so no one ever knew what was happening at the complex. - Our security deposit was only partially refunded for things like, a "late charge", a "photo doc", and a "rent charge" even though we vacated the apartment three weeks before the end of the lease, paid the last months prorated rent in FULL, and mailed the keys back to the apartment in a timely matter. - AND LAST BUT CERTAINLY NOT LEAST, the surprise construction project that rendered our apartment almost uninhabitable for about a month and a half. A project regarding termite control started sometime mid June 2022. Within the next couple of days, we had no exterior walls in our living room, master bedroom or guest room. The interior sheetrock opened into the living room and we had termites entering the walls. We never received any type of communication from management regarding any of this. Several days later, a storm caused significant flooding in both of our 1st floor bedrooms due to the lack of any kind of exterior on the building. The walls, baseboards, carpets, window sills and outlets were saturated with water. The same day, our AC unit stopped working and was not fixed until 4 days later. Additionally, our living room window was removed from our unit without any communication or notice from 1st Lake. We were left with no choice but to buy our own plastic to cover the gaping hole in our wall that our dog could have jumped through at any time. I tried and tried to get someone from the office to come look at our apartment but was continuously met with resistance. When I asked about a 50% rental decrease for the month of June, I was told to not waste my time and stop asking because the answer was no. I attempted to reach the 1st lake corporate office to discuss this but never received a response. Fast forward to the reconstruction period - the construction crew put several holes into our living room and master bedroom that were so large, we could literally see sunshine through them. Not to mention there were 16 or so nails that protruded into our walls from the crew's inability to manage a nail gun. The management office set up to have interior repairs completed but they no showed. Twice. For the cost of rent at this 'luxury' apartment, it's absolutely not worth the price they charge. read more

Love love this place! Love the free garage parking whereas other complexes would charge $100-300 per month to park! The ladies in the front office are awesome! They are helpful and has always been helpful! If I have issues, I always log into the residential portal and put in a work order! Love having a dog park for my little doggie! Not many apt places offer a dog park! I haven't gone swimming yet but it's a pretty nice pool with a custom built now pit! The gym is basic but has everything you would need to relieve stress. With any new complexes there's bound to be random issues but they do try to fix issues as soon as they can. My washer is acting funny and I put in a work order. I have no rushes to wash clothes so I called and told them I'm in no hurry. Lol. There are things I don't like about this place is some residents don't pick up their dog wastes. Plenty of "free" doggie bags at the doggie stations but ppl are lazy. I hope the office can penalize these folks cause it makes the place look gross when residences don't pick up pet waste. read more

This is the ABSOLUTE worse experience I have ever had staying at an apartment complex. When I first set eyes on this place being built a few years ago I knew that I wanted to live here. As fate would have it once it was completed I was able to move into a 2 bed 2 bath apartment and may I just say this place is unbelievably mismanaged. The front desk staff as a unit is rude, unfriendly, unwelcoming, and unprofessional at all times from my dealings with them. In addition to the rudeness, the complex cares more about building a dog park then they do about building an actual park for the children who live here to play in, which sucks because there's no park near by to take them (unless it's the dog park). This is no disrespect to dog lovers or the dog park which is a cool idea it's just a shame that human kids don't have the same luxury. Furthermore, there is no way to exit the back gate as a pedestrian or biker where the roads are safer. They have options to rent bikes and movies, which is cool, but the front desk is so dreadful that I'd rather just pass. You have to carry your trash all the way to the front of the building instead of there being a trash chute or some organized way to dispose of your garbage. This is quite taxing for women especially who have to carry heavy loads of trash from the back of the complex to the front. Although the inside is nice and Heather from maintenance is awesome, the discourteous attitudes of the front office staff and the under-appreciation that they show to their residents is appalling. If you're looking for a home away from home this is not the place for you. Find somewhere that treats you like family and makes coming home a pleasure. This place feels like a prison and it has cultivated a culture of rude tenants as well (not everyone of course). To sum it all up THIS PLACE SUCKS!! I would not recommend Bella Ridge North to anyone looking for a safe place to live. The office and management staff are rude and they do not care for one's safety nor one's general concerns. My car got vandalized/broken into overnight, and the office's response was "We are not here to make you feel safe". After my incident, the cops have been called in for more car break in incidents, and we also found out that some of our neighbors had also experienced the same incident. In addition to having NO concern for the residents, Bella Ridge North also stated that one would have to pay a "$100 fee" in order to have access to the entrance video camera footage, where it states NO WHERE in the lease. They do not care to make the community feel safe. They are only concerned in renting out the units, and from my recent experience, they do not run a proper background check. After the multiple incidents that have occurred, they still refuse to install cameras in the garage and/or around the buildings, nor do they inform/alert the residents of what has happened within the community. I have lived at Bella Ridge North since 2018. I initially loved living here but over the past 3 years the leasing agents and management have changed. They were unhelpful in solving noise issues from fellow neighbors which was an ongoing issue for almost 2 years. They suggested I move although I was the first to move in and moving would be a bigger inconvenience for me. The referral incentive is a joke as I referred a friend who moved here but I was not able to get the incentive because they moved into Bella Ridge South which is somehow different. The last disappointment is they didn't give me any reminder or alert when my lease was almost up and charged me a termination fee as I was less than 30 days notice but I planned to move out in the next 2 months. Overall the new staff is unhelpful and rude. I would move here only if you plan to never interact with the staff. read more

1st lake properties is ridiculous. The apartments are way overpriced for the location. The walls are as thin as paper and you can hear the people below you, above you, and on side of you. For these fake "luxury" apartments, they offer hardly anything for amenities (e.g. small swimming pool, gym the size of our closet, maybe three bicycles left to rent and no where to ride bike nearby). There are people who do not pick up after their pets so the property is disgusting. I have to risk stepping in some other dog's pile of crap just to get to my own dog's feces. People SPEED around the complex so if you're out walking your child or your dog, watch out. Someone's cat was ran over and killed in the garage. It's going to take a human getting hit before they show an ounce of care about the property and speeders. I called approximately 8 times to find out what my rent was going to go up to. Every single time I got the run around- FOR TWO MONTHS. They couldn't give me an answer. It was always, "Well, you'll get a letter if it changes." Or, "We only have the apartment's that will change or stay the same up until July 30th, and yours ends on the 31st. We don't have that yet." "If you don't get a letter, it will stay the same." I got a letter........THREE days after my 30 day notice was supposed to be given that my rent will be going up $100. I am absolutely disgusted, and I will not ever recommend anyone move into this place or any property that they run. They have screwed over too many people that live here. And that's their motive for sending out the letter last minute or too late. To FORCE you into staying here or paying a ton of money to get out of their lease. read more

The management at this apartment is the worst. I have a spider problem in my apartment and no one seems to care. I am not sure what kind of spider it is, but it is tiny. I get bites all over me and I woke up once with my eye swollen shut. The office just hangs up on my when I try to voice my thoughts. Construction noise is all night due to them building more apartments that are built trying to save every penny they can. Appliances are a joke, and there is dog crap EVERYWHERE! Do not waste your time or money with this apartment complex. The units are WAY over priced and the management is absolutely horrible. I've been a faithful and good tenant for almost 2 years and have had serious problems with 2 units at this complex that I lived in. After my first apartment here flooded - they approved a transfer into another apartment for $160 more a month. The new apartment was in much worse shape than my original one - red paint all over from a previous tenant, a hole in the bedroom carpet, a crack in the granite counter top, water stains on the wall from the AC unit, the AC return air metal vent was rusted and disgusting, damaged sections of the "wood" flooring, an AC filter that had not been changed in months, etc. After a few months in the new apartment, I started having an electrical burning smell. I reported it to the complex and was told to let them know when it happens and they would come in to "investigate". Only issue is when it happens, the office is closed. After nearly two months of this issue happening, I asked to be transferred to another apartment and was told it was not a problem and that I'd be saving money since the rent was cheaper in the 3rd apartment. I then get a phone call saying I can transfer, but I'll have to pay what my current rent is? Like why didn't that policy take place when I transferred the first time??? No I had to pay the new rental rate which was $160 more than I was paying. I am sick to my stomach that I have to continue living here for the next 7 months in a crappy apartment with the possibility of the building burning down. read more

I am a nurse who gets up at 5am to work a 12 hr shift in a very busy ER. The idiots that live above me run thru the apartment until they go to bed (and these are adults). It also sounds like they are dragging furniture all the time. This goes on every day into the evening. Every visitor I have comments on the noise. When I complained to management I was told that if it's not happening between 10pm and 7am there really isn't much they will do about it. I pay over $1800 a month only to be miserable all the time. So if I need to sleep at 9pm to get 8 hrs of sleep that's just too bad??? These apartments are also very poorly constructed so don't let the appearance fool you. The construction is so cheap you can hear everything. Oh and the gated/secure complex is no such thing because the incoming gate is broken a lot of the time. Beware before you sign a lease spending a lot of money and are stuck here. read more
