This is my go to local Chinese restaurant. You can definitely eat inside and get a 10% discount on the food but it's much like a cafeteria no ambience really. Food is excellent. My favorite is the beef with peppers, cold sesame noodles & spicy eggplant !Service is prompt fast when you call ahead for pick up. Deliveries take longer. Severely over priced for such mid food and extremely small portions. Not a true Chinese food experience but that's expected considering ownership. Place I normally order from wouldn't be my first choice either but it's closed Tuesday's and we wanted Chinese and couldn't remember why we stopped ordering here years ago. First they sent the wrong item entirely, a soup becomes noodles? Wild. Second my personal experience, boneless spare ribs, they were extremely dry which explains why they gave such an enormous amount of sauce packs. So much for Supporting local business during the election infection! Where is the gratitude or even basic customer service from all these restaurants crying poverty during the lockdowns. I can tell you it certainly isn't here at this place. My order was over an hour late from the time they said it would be delivered ( locally) I tried call for about 30 minutes and all I kept getting was busy signals and they actually picked up and hung up 4 times. Over an hour and 40 minutes with no food or anyone picking up a phone. My mistake for not using Big Apple instead. I just threw out my combination lunch. I ordered shredded chicken w/ vegetables in garlic sauce. It came with pork fried rice and an eggroll. The portion was generous. However the sauce was tasteless, the chicken tasted like it had been sitting in a freezer for a year, not rotten, just old. The pork was rubbery. I was able to eat the vegetables. The eggroll had the consistency of cardboard. Just awful food. If I lived closer to this place I would have brought it back. Got the small salmon with snow peas and small shrimp lo mein ordered by delivery The salmon is really gourmet. I've never had such a high quality fish at a Chinese restaurant before. It's large chunks of breaded salmon, snow peas, water chestnuts, and carrots in a really tasty brown sauce. Not too much or too little salt, no chemical-like aftertaste. The shrimp lo mein is good. Not greasy. A tiny bit softer than I prefer but everything has a great flavor. I've ordered from here a few times already. It's always been great. Their general tso chicken, which I got last time, was so good every time I passed by the fridge I popped another leftover piece in my mouth. The Chinese food was just ok. The place is under renovation so excuse the 3 stars for mainly that reason. The egg rolls were actually impressive. I haven't has a good egg roll in years there alway half soft and no crisp. This egg roll was the bomb crispy as hell and tasteful. Food I recommend if your in the area and crave Chinese. read more

I agree with the other reviewers - it does seem to be hit or miss here. The price is great, you get a lot of food, but the flavors of everything seem to be way off tonight. We got sesame noodles, and the flavor was not of sesame-- it tasted almost chemical-y. The general tsos chicken was a heart break- the flavor was awesone, the outer layer of tempura was perfect!-- but the chicken inside was so odd. Some bites were of a mushy consistency, some bites were hard and rubbery and it was so off putting it was really hard to swallow, yet I kept trying it because, like I said, the flavor was amazing. The chicken dumplings were soggy, and the egg roll did not taste like much of anything. Such a bummer, usually this place is delicious. Me, my beau and his mother ordered takeout while it was snowing pretty badly. Food was delivered in about 40 minutes, which is not bad at all because of the snow. We got the food and we were missing a dish. Tried calling them at 10pm but they did not answer (they close at 10:30pm). I can't blame for not answering! It was really bad weather and from what the delivery boy said it was a struggle for him to deliver! I ordered the shrimp chow fun, ribs combination plate and shrimp lo mein. Missing the Mongolian beef which my beau was looking forward to eat. The food was ok, but I have to say I'm a fan of their wonton soup! Next day we called them and they said to come over to get money back for the missing dish. Went over there with the menu and the receipt and they figured out how the order didn't go through. They were apologetic and gave the cash back. I am happy that they were understanding and admitted to their error. I tried calling "East Meets West" on 129th Street to order food on the relay services (since I'm profoundly deaf and can't hear well on the phone). The first try I got hung up on and the guy said 'Sorry, I'm too busy'. I get that you're busy dude..... but when I try a second time and I get 'Oh my god you're killing me, bye' and then hung up on again..... well you just deserved a rant for all to see. Once I told my sister what happened she called them to complain. The guy who hung up on me was an obnoxious jerk who at first tried to play dumb, and then asked to see the transcript (of which I'm more than happy to show them). When my sister asked to speak with the manager he took her phone number saying he wasn't there at the moment, and that he'd have him call her back. The manager called her back about three minutes later (obviously indicating the manager wasn't really missing) and did apologize, but then proceeded to defend the kid for what he did saying "He's young and inexperienced. I'll talk to him. What do you want me to do?" My sister said we both would never order from them again, and the manager just said 'Fine' like he couldn't care less. I think it's disgraceful that not only was I discriminated against for using an alternate mode of communication, but then I was pushed aside like just another customer that means nothing to them. I have frequented this place for a number of years as their food is better than most of the Chinese places around the area. Granted, I understand it's not a quick phone call for a delivery order, but seriously - an extra 30-45 seconds wouldn't kill you. This is my favorite Chinese spot in Rockaway. Food is amazing. Only Chinese place I've ever had where you don't feel sick to your stomach after. I gave 4 stars because the phone lines are always busy and delivery can be over an hour wait. I love their food and completely understand why they are so busy but they need more staff. read more

Horrible! customer service, the jerk who is clearly not Asian behind the counter taking orders and was the biggest DB!, he had an attitude and must either hate his life or his job because he was completely rude and when my 2.5 year old all of sudden need to potty and 2.5 year old cant really hold it, when we asked the DB if we could use their bathroom he said no and when we pointed to our distressed toddler and said it was for a him not us, he refused to let us take him. I would give them less than one star if i could, unpleasantness and restaurant busienss dont' go well together, this place would be better off if they kicked his ass out and hired someone whom had some people skills. read more

For some reason in Brooklyn, NY whenever I order Chinese the chicken is either dark or is overly covered in sauces and breadcrumbs and fried to death. But at EMW in Rockaway I continue to go back because they give you huge portions at a low price with white meat. The General TSO chicken is my favorite! Great people too run the place! read more

Please note that anyone living in or is familiar with Belle Harbor knows that they are restricted to only a handful of restaurants to choose from, unless you want to venture off into the boonies! Anyway, I ordered a few items to be shared with a friend and we were both beyond disappointed. First off, the phone person was rude over the phone and in person (I ordered pick-up). I was trying to give him the benefit of the doubt; maybe he was overwhelmed with other deliveries. I get there and the place is empty and the staff (kitchen and FOH) are all just sitting and staring at each other. I smile and tell him I'm picking up an order and he grabs the bag from behind him and points at the receipt where the price is and doesn't even look up or verbalize it to me! Maybe I should've just walked out without the food. The food was bland and was obviously not prepared fresh. We ordered a 'chinatown style wonton noodle soup' and got pre-packaged dumplings from the market with salty broth and thick hard lo-mein type noodles (not flat egg noodles). I took one bite and threw out the rest of the soup. The rice in the chicken with broccoli was hard and some were translucent (obviously old leftover rice), chicken was really chewy, and the broccoli was the only thing decent. The prices do not commensurate with the quality of food they put out. Though, they get away with it since they are the only asian restaurant in the area (staying out of the boonies). The food is mediocre at best. The delivery service is horrendous. Its a minimum 1 hour, which is unreasonable. An hour for Chicken Lo Mein is ridiculous. And getting the order right is half the battle! How hard is it to mark off my order as I give it to you? How hard is it to place that menu/order on the right bag? And then to just guess what I ordered, TWICE is no bueno. I'm a huge fan of supporting local business, but when that business doesn't give a shit about you, they lose my money. They're the only game west of 116, an they know anyone west of 116, will order from them, so they don't care if your order is right or if takes them an hour and a half to deliver. I love this place! I'm a big fan of Chinese food and I think their General Tso's chicken is the best! All white meat and the sauce is not overly salty or sweet and with the white meat only, it is waaaay less fatty. I love that you can get brown rice without paying extra. They also offer dishes with salmon. I believe they are associated with the Seafood restaurant next door (Rockaway Seafood Co.) which probably explains all the colossal-sized shrimp dishes. Their claim to fame is that all veges are delivered farm fresh daily, but I like that the food is not swimming in grease. They have a few tables, but it's mostly for takeout and delivery. The food was not very good. The ribs were burnt to a crisp as if they were left over from yesterday and recooked today. Not very appealing to eat ended up throwing them out. The spring rolls were ok but a bit oily. I also had orange chicken. The only thing cooked right was the broccoli. The chicken was not very good. Overall the items ordered were not outstanding barely passable. I was very disappointed. The quality of the food seems to be hit or miss. Sometimes it is excellent and other times not very good at all not even visually appealing. They need better consistency. Clean and fairly friendly wait-staff. My first time I went I was pleasantly surprised how nice the lady up front was. I was craving some healthy ( ...as healthy as FF Chinese can get) food options and didn't bother to check out the Yelp reviews prior. I guess the couple times I've been I've always been treated great but then again I have yet to do a call in order so maybe my experience will change. Anywho, it's on 129th, crazy parking fiasco at times but that the deal you get with going to this strip. I've ordered a handful of dishes but my fave which I ordered on a whim was the tofu and eggplants. Delicious! I even got my meat-eater friend hooked on the pork and eggplant dish. The portions are pretty good, not an overload but enough to keep you satisfied. I usually order their brown rice,for health sake, I swear ;) and maybe because I actually like the taste of the crunchy grainy-ness. I ordered $45 dollars worth of food descriptions as follows. 1. order of fried pork dumplings - soggy tasted like they were 3 days old. 2. order of shrimp steamed dumplings- only thing that was remotely edible. 3. Orange peel beef- fried beef was soggy, extremely chewy, portion looked like a lunch size for $13,are you kidding. 4.
