3.5 stars The ambiance is nice. Great for a date night and if you're sitting outside you get a view of the water and the bridge. We ordered the calamari, mangosteen salad, and the branzino. The calamari tasted like it was not seasoned and the meat was a little more tender than I'm used to. The sauce it came helped with the flavor but you definitely need a good amount of it. The mangosteen salad was OK ... think I would have preferred the papaya salad. The pla lui suan (branzino) was quite good and I liked it very much - size was enough to share since we already ordered apps. Service was fine and wait staff gave us plenty of space to leisurely enjoy our meal. read more

The we came in looked at the menu which looked very very good. The place looked even nicer/ clean/ nice band playing and the view was amazing as well. The service was definitely great everyone always walked by and asked if we are good or not. The drinks were great as well. Then came the curry puffs barely tasted like curry and dough although not bad but a bit undercooked. Then came the grilled calamari. ZERO flavor!! But the sauce wasn't bad so we had to ask for extra portion to drench it. And the whole thing was a really nice big portion BUT fully hard to chew, undercooked, the thin lining was still around some pieces and pulling as you tried to chew through , and the whole thing was just hard to chew and eat. Maybe 6 rings were ok to chew and were cooked through but zero excuse. We still want to come back and give it another chance but I really hated that we wasted a meal trying so under satisfying. Great food, beautiful furniture and views! We came here in early spring, so finding street parking wasn't too bad. The wings stood out to me because the garlic and pepper flakes were so aromatic. I was able to ask for the crab fried rice without soy sauce and they were very accommodating. The tom kha soup was yummy and i'd get it again. The only thing i'd pass on next time is the roti. Docked one star because the seats were pretty, but not super comfortable to sit on. The place is really pretty. There's a good amount of outside seating, which is very nice to be on the water by the bridge. we wanted to sit inside it first, but it was just too hot. It was much nicer outside with the breeze off the water. The staff is very nice. The food is OK. They can't really adjust the spice in any way, because they seem to be using a premade curry paste. Now that I'm older, I just can't do spice, but I still love Thai food. It kind of sucks that most of the stuff is just too spicy for me. So, I wound up just getting the shrimp pad Thai lunch special that came with a small app & soup- the chive cakes for an appetizer, and Tom Yum soup with shrimp. My mom got the same appetizer and the Tom kha gai soup. she got the Pad See Ew with shrimp for her entrée. I thought it was strange that they served the chive cakes in the sweet soy that's usually served on the side. This made them pretty soggy. The best part of a chive cake is that it's nice and crispy on the outside and then you dip it in that sweet soy & it's lovely, but here it's served drowned in the sauce and it's soggy. The pad Thai was very bland and dry. It definitely needed that squeeze of the lime. My mom's Pad See Ew was a bit scorched, but she liked it. read more

Came here for a Birthday Dinner. Overall, we were greeted when we entered. They were accommodating. We got a seat outside, even though it was outside. It was enclosed by the water. They had music playing, a live band, but it was very noisy because the restaurant next-door also had music playing so it was a lot of heavy noise and the music was clashing. That was my only inconvenience at this spot. The parking was very tiny so do not expect a parking in front you'll have to park in the streets. The views were great. The ambience was nice. We went tonight because we had loved the restaurant under its previous ownership. Unfortunately, the experience was a huge disappointment. While sitting outside at sunset was lovely, the meal itself was one of the worst we've had. The dumplings were bland, the lime branzino was so overpowering that it was inedible, and the curry scallop dish was so salty and peppery that I had to send it back. Went to this establishment when it was Thai rock back in 2013. Hadn't been back since it was ok then. However I will say hands down Similan on on the Bay is 10x better. The customer service is on point. They are friendly, they actually engage with the customers. The decor and ambiance is very nice and the view is aesthetically pleasing. The food is delicious. We had wings for appetizers 7/10, Thai dumplings 8/10, soft shell crabs 10/10. I had the crying tiger 9/10, the grilled branzino was 10/10, the squid is 8/10. The old fashioned cocktail was 9/10. Everything was great. I will be returning again. Probably to host a gathering, that's how pleased I was with the experience. read more

It's a lovely venue inside and out, the hostesses are very welcoming and friendly. The food is good, actually was better on our second visit than on the initial one, cocktails improved as well. But they add an extra charge depending on which liquor you choose, though you only end up seeing that on the bill. Go when less busy, the service is much better, not as rushed, however the music should be somewhat less loud. The best part are the views, great during the warm month. read more

So when we heard another thai spot was opening, we were praying that it would be more authentic and save us from driving to Williamsburg/Greenpoint/Manhattan for Thai Food runs. $50-60 I was very disappointed. My wife ordered the shrimp with fried rice. It came with 3 small shrimp, what was extremely disturbing was under the rice were 2 shrimp heads and no shrimp. The waiter and mgr could not explain. It was as if it was scooped out of the pot. She could not eat her remaining meal and left over most. The fix was $4.00 off the bill What added insult to injury. I ordered a vodka tonic. $16.00 and was charged $1.00 extra for the tonic. In all my years of ordering at a restaurant bar I was never charged for the mixer. Not happy!!!! read more

I visited this restaurant on a Monday to celebrate my birthday, and unfortunately the service did not match the beautiful atmosphere. When we arrived, there was no hostess to greet us, and we waited about five minutes before being seated on the patio. I initially asked if we could sit closer to the water where two tables were combined, but was told it wasn't possible since it was set for four guests. That was completely fine, and we stayed where we were. However, about ten minutes later, another couple was seated in that exact spot after the tables were separated, which was frustrating. Because the patio felt crowded, I asked the hostess if we could move inside for a more intimate setting. She kindly accommodated us, but unfortunately did not inform our waitress. We then waited another 15 minutes without any service--no one checked on us or offered drinks. When I approached a staff member to ask about our order, I was told the food had just come out, yet it arrived cold and the drink was completely watered down. I never saw our original waitress again, and when I expressed my concerns to another server, they were dismissed without much attention. The restaurant itself is absolutely beautiful, and the food--even though cold--had great flavor. However, the lack of coordination and attentiveness from the staff was disappointing, especially for a special occasion. If this was the experience on a Monday, I can only imagine how it might be on a busy weekend. With better staff training and communication, this place has the potential to be amazing. read more

We had a reservation for 7 PM and placed our order at 7:10. Unfortunately, the service was extremely slow. Our appetizers (beef skewers and dumplings) didn't arrive until about 35-40 minutes later, and the entrées followed just 10 minutes after that. The food itself was very disappointing. The entrées lacked flavor and spice, and the seafood was not properly cleaned--it smelled unpleasant and was completely inedible. To make matters worse, a family member ended up with food poisoning afterward. The service was equally poor. Our server was rude and, instead of acknowledging the birthday we had noted in the reservation, simply shoved the bill at us without offering dessert. When we raised this with management, they dismissed it as a "system glitch" and had no response when I asked why desserts aren't offered regardless. The only positive aspect was the drinks, which were good. Unfortunately, that wasn't enough to make up for the long waits, overcrowded atmosphere, bland and unsafe food, and unprofessional service. The ambiance in this restaurant is peaceful and magical, the view is unique and the inside dining area is equally as beautiful as the outside dining area. My wife had the Masiman curry shrimp, and I had the crispy Bonita with mango sauce and it was delicious. We had a wonderful early evening dinner last Tuesday. We sat at the patio overlooking the bay as the sun set. My wife had the short ribs with egg noodles special, and I had the pad cashew nut with chicken. Both conveyed authentic Thai flavors. Our server was very knowledgeable and friendly, and the whole experience, from being greeted by the manager and the host through the end of our dinner, could not have been more perfect. About 15 minutes later they call me and tell me they ran out of the noodle. At this point I'm already on my way traveled about 20 minutes. They told me they were going to switch the noodle for a different type of noodle but not compensate me in any other way.
