I either get dropped off or take the trolley. I don't trust parking my car overnight in the U.S. lots. I am usually traveling to Rosarito with my young kiddos. 1. Have your documents easily accessible to you without fiddling and faddling. 2. If you have to put items on the conveyor belt, be on the other end to quickly retrieve your items. 3. You will have to walk up a small curve incline to the document checkpoint. Just in case mobility is a factor. 4. If things are moving smoothly and you go between the times recommended, the border crossing to Tijuana is 10 minutes. 5. I travel with kiddos, I always take full photos and send to family. Precautionary, because I watch crime shows. Maybe not important but what's 3 seconds of peace of mind. 6. Customs agents are so chilled, but I bet if something pops off it's on! I accidentally ended up in the wrong lane while trying to return to the U.S. from Mexico. The GPS directed me that way, and although the lane said "Medical" in Spanish, it also said "USA," so I assumed it was the correct way. A couple of other cars made the same mistake and entered that lane with me. The cops immediately started screaming at us & made us back out of the lane. They stopped and immediately started asking for my ID, registration, and other documents. I explained that it was an honest mistake and that I was just trying to get home. Despite this, they gave us a long lecture and then threatened to impound my car and said I'd have to pay a large fine. Then things escalated -- they demanded we open all of our bags and show them how much cash we had. After that, they started saying it wasn't enough. They proceeded to search our entire car, including the trunk, without giving us any reason or asking for consent. A man nearby -- a Spanish-speaking local -- began yelling at the officers, telling them to leave us alone and saying they had no legal right to search us. He seemed to know what was going on and called them out on it. After that confrontation, the officers' demeanor changed. They suddenly told us to follow them back into Mexico. We had no choice but to comply. Once we were out of the way, they pulled us over again, TOOK ALL OUR CASH, returned my ID, and told us to get back in the proper line to cross the border. US CITIZENS NEED TO STOP GOING TO MEXICO AND CONTRIBUTING TO THE ECONOMY!!!! We go to get away for a small vaca & look what happens to us, cops are corrupted. You can't even enjoy your time because people are BEGGING for money, 6yr old children & up are working/talking to strangers for money, people are carrying puppies & holding them up to your window for sale while you're waiting in the boarder line.

My reason was to ask to speak to the front desk police officer who I can ask him to file a police report with a woman tenant who was physically assaulted because she was punched in the face once and the second time she was slapped in the face by this same mental ill woman tenant in this independent living home that I am currently the House Manager. in managing right now at this present location. I don't blame the San Diego Police Officers because I have a better understanding of what their responsibilities are about since I have to do the same things they do in me having to deal with mentally ill people who are not taking their medication. These mentally unstable individuals ; when these crazy people are off their medication these people's behavior turns out of control and does escalate into a very violent episode. The situation was I was not able to file a police report because the victim this senior citizen woman only had one bruise on her face. This front desk police officer told me the victim needs to have a lot of (black and blue bruises on her face) and on her arms too. And also the victim has to be threatened by the suspect with a weapon like a knife or a gun and that weapon has to be found at the residence at the scene of the crime. I believe this is a good police department because even though I wasn't able to file a police report with them , I was given good information. The information I was given was a case number if I wanted to go through the San Diego Courthouse System to file a Restraining Order against this senior citizen woman suspect I would have to fill out the paperwork packet at the San Diego County Courthouse and then me and the victim would have to go through this long process to try to file a temporary restraining order against this woman suspect of physically abusing another senior citizen. It's a very long process. Their front desk police officer was very professional towards me and he gave me excellent customer service.
