Always very professional staff holidays lines are huge always spend 3 -4 hours a day to cross to Sandiego

The times just keep changing with world security. We decided to get the Global Entry/Sentri Pass and be able to go through the short lines instead of the long ones....and you get a TSA approved status for airline security lines. There were choices of going to LA or Otay mesa which was a no brainer. We had an eight am interview so we did get up early. The provided directions were perfect and put us right in the parking lot. And directions from the parking lot to thier front door were on point. Appointments were running on time. We were interviewed by Officer Abts, very nice fellow and he kept it light and informative. In and out in about 30 minutes. The hours are 6am to 10pm. I guess its warranted but didnt see that big of volume when we were there. I reccomend going to this office. The intake personnel were very polite and nice.

I applied for the global sentry card and it was a smooth process, the first thing is that you have to apply online and then from there make an appt. I did the one in Otay Mesa, I got there before my appt at 7:45 am waited for about 15 min, the agent was nice and was just waiting for my prints and as soon as you know it, I'm done, I just have to wait a couple of weeks for the card, My advice is follow the directions on the website and don't get lost and print out the stuff they ask you such as proof of residence, like a utility bill, the letter of appt and don't forget your passport :) The cool thing is you also get tsa pre boarding

    Waiting room....bring a book.

Yes, The program is excellent. But this review is for the office, not the program. This office, manned by Homeland Security employees, perhaps reflects the attitude that we all encounter at the airports.. ...and that is because they wear a gun, and provide a service that the public wants, and needs, they get to operate as they see fit, without any recriminations from the public. This office needs some managerial oversight. Can anyone work any slower? ?? They need an incentive program. Perhaps then, productivity would increase and wait times would decrease. Be prepared to wait, even with an appointment. Bring a book because mobile data is extremely intermittent inside.

Disorganized on how you get checked in. Lady outside checks that you are here, but you can't come in..... Now check in lady seems to have gone to lunch and every body now rushing in to get checked in and able to seat inside!

This is the parking lot everyone's talking about it is no longer available for use.

I had a 12 o'clock appointment for global entry/TSA and waited about 15 min to go sit inside the lobby because they are social distancing so there's not many chairs. I was called for my appointment by 1 o'clock and it took about 30 minutes for the interview. Officer Santiago was great and all the officers were kind and helpful. Heads up...I made the mistake of looking at some of the photos here on Yelp that people posted a few years ago and there's a lot of construction now so that front parking lot is now employees only and no longer available. You have to park before you start going down that small street toward the building. Somewhere on the site or on Yelp I was told to ignore the authorized vehicles only sign so I did and ended up getting a pricey ticket from border patrol. Border patrol are not the same as the officers in the senturi office. They will give you a ticket. Bottom line choose some of the paid parking when you come to the end of Roll Street where the dead end circle is and do not enter that small street!

App said 20min, crossed in under 8min! ... The app hasn't failed me yet :)

Ask the Community - US Customs & Border Protection

Does everyone have to have the Sentri card to pass threw in the vehicle or just the driver?

Yes, each individual must have their own Sentry card. Otherwise the one with the century card can stay in the vehicle and the others can be dropped off to walk across the border.

Can I make an appointment at San Diego International airport for an interview on my Global entry application?

Not anymore. That location no longer offers appointments.

I accidentally ended up in the wrong lane while trying to return to the U.S. from Mexico. The GPS directed me that way, and although the lane said "Medical" in Spanish, it also said "USA," so I assumed it was the correct way. A couple of other cars made the same mistake and entered that lane with me. The cops immediately started screaming at us & made us back out of the lane. They stopped and immediately started asking for my ID, registration, and other documents. I explained that it was an honest mistake and that I was just trying to get home. Despite this, they gave us a long lecture and then threatened to impound my car and said I'd have to pay a large fine. Then things escalated -- they demanded we open all of our bags and show them how much cash we had. After that, they started saying it wasn't enough. They proceeded to search our entire car, including the trunk, without giving us any reason or asking for consent. A man nearby -- a Spanish-speaking local -- began yelling at the officers, telling them to leave us alone and saying they had no legal right to search us. He seemed to know what was going on and called them out on it. After that confrontation, the officers' demeanor changed. They suddenly told us to follow them back into Mexico. We had no choice but to comply. Once we were out of the way, they pulled us over again, TOOK ALL OUR CASH, returned my ID, and told us to get back in the proper line to cross the border. US CITIZENS NEED TO STOP GOING TO MEXICO AND CONTRIBUTING TO THE ECONOMY!!!! We go to get away for a small vaca & look what happens to us, cops are corrupted. Throughout undergrad and grad school, I often took trips south of the border. My most common…read moredestination in baja back then was Ensenada, which sits about an hour's drive from the US/Mexico border. That drive gave me two options: the toll road ("cuota") or the toll-free road ("libre"). I always opted for the toll road, as it is heavily patrolled by law-enforcement, and the commute time is considerably less than the toll-free road. There are three toll booths between Tijuana and Ensenada, which runs you about three dollars and change per booth. Traffic has never been an issue for me on this road, and neither has anything else. The scenery along this route is beautiful! The road hugs the cliffs along the coast of Baja California Norte. If you are a fan of winding roads, a-la-PCH-in-NorCal, then you will like this stretch of road as well! Rosarito sits along this route, about 15 minutes south of Tijuana. There are also various gas stations and convenience stores along the way. I like their coffee, particularly the mochas from 7-Eleven. I also get a couple of bottles of water for my stay in Baja (do NOT drink the tap water!). This road is safe, day and night. There is often a military check point, but the personnel are pleasant people. The police are no issue either, I've only been questioned once by them. I was riding alone in a beamer in the middle of the night... Don't let the news scare you, Baja is actually a safe place to visit as long as you don't look for trouble and mind your own business. And if Ensenada or Rosarito is your destination, then take this fine stretch of road there.

Rollinghills and quick back to back turns makes you wish you were driving a sports car. (Video) The current speed limit is 70 mph, in my opinion the highway is not designed for this speed. There's areas you could exceed 100 mph but the danger is the uneven road. That being said if you do have the opportunity to drive this highway use your better judgment, your experience and know your vehicle capability. This is a toll road with two pay booths per direction, The current toll is $2.10 per booth North and south. Mexican pesos or US dollars only, no credit cards. On weekends expect 3 to 4 sobriety checkpoints, all week you can expect a bunch of drivers that think they have nine lives. I suggest you drive this highway during the day unless you're extremely comfortable driving at night with zero street lights. Have fun responsible, peace out! Make sure to purchase the correct FBI fingerprint cards as requested by the company you are submitting your prints to. Wait until called in and you will pay a fee of $12 per card. Credit card accepted. TIP: Most places around San Diego will do card services for $20 to $30 for up to 2 cards. Make sure you ask if they include the card or if the card has to be purchased separately. Most of the time you have to purchase them separately which can add up in prices. I chose to buy card separately from another location (because the police department did not have them) and go to the police because it was cheaper to do the service ($12 per card). TIP: Keep your receipt because the lady said that if the cards are rejected after submission, to come back and they will re-do them for free.
