Upon entering the large, spacious building, the two receptionists are very friendly, helpful, and make the client feel more comfortable. Each of the eye surgeons have Surgical Coordinators: One outstanding coordinator is Te'Mekka, who is the Surgical Coordinator, for Dr. Aleksey I. Mishulin, M.D. Ophthalmologist., better known as simply, 'Alex.' She is extremely friendly, helpful, knowledgeable and has also had eye surgeries and can indeed empathize with all clients visits for specific procedures. Dr. Alex is a warm, compassionate, fully empathic/sensitive doctor, who fully understands his patients and can calm a worry or problem which may arise during the first interview after the series of several eye tests with the latest state-of-the-art equipment. He asks several times if their should be any questions of the patient to make sure that the patient may fully understand the eye procedure involved. The Flint/Grand Blanc area should be fortunate to have Michigan Vision Institute in this area with such excellent professional and staff and eye surgeons. Follow up is excellent as well.

I started to have a short fuse after trying to ask him questions about my condition and being treated as if I was taking up too much of his precious time. The time spent with the doctor was no more than 10-15 minutes including him looking at my eyes. I was respectful but disappointed by the way the appointment went. The front desk was not helpful when I asked to see a manager. They said there was none but I could fill out a survey. I suspect they are scheduling in such a way that the staff is feeling rushed. No one will probably even read the survey. Why don't doctors get it when patients complain of being dismissed and disrespected? It makes such a difference in the way things go.

I see nothing wrong with your eyes." And that was it. I had to see two other eye doctors afterwards so that they would finally figure out what was wrong because I suddenly couldn't see well in the daytime. It is not great news when the doctor can't find what is wrong, it is great news when I get help, which I didn't. It got far worse when I talked to the manager of his place in Dearborn. She was patronizing, raising her voice at me, and treating me like nuisance. Other people who worked there were really nice, but they seemed afraid both of the doctor and the young manager who reminded me of the "Mean girls" film more than a professional establishment.
