The staff and personnel at MVI is truly outstanding! One of the truly great eye surgeons on staff is Dr. Alexsey "Alex"Mishulin. He is compassionate, empathetic, and takes his concerns for the well fare of his patients with a total understanding for care and the gift of caring. After his surgery on this patients eye's, he even called at my home to see that everything was fine and I am doing well after the left eye surgery. This is truly wonderful and so fairly given by doctors and physicians in today's society. This doctor ranks a 10/10. He is highly recommended!! read more

I needed cataract surgery on both eyes. I was told that my out of pocket costs would be $250 for each eye which needed to be paid before surgery, which I did. The day of surgery for my right eye came. I arrived at the surgery center to find they had scheduled my left eye to be done. Because there are presurgical eye drops that had to be done they couldn't just swap out the procedures. There was confusion between the office and the surgery center. All paperwork had to be redone before the surgery and a mark drawn on my face to make sure the correct eye was done. Two weeks later I arrived at my appointment for my left eye. They confused my surgical eye AGAIN, thinking my right eye was to be done. Paperwork had to be redone and another drawing on my face to ensure the correct eye would be repaired. I woke up in the middle of the surgery to a hard tugging sensation on my eye and told the doctor I could feel what he was doing. The implant scar in my left eye is in my field of vision, making a dark area similar to having a "blinder" on my eye. There is also already a protein deposit accumulating on both lenses that causes haziness and difficulties with my night vision. Now, several months after my surgery I am receiving bills totaling over $500 related to the surgery. I was told at the time that my out of pocket cost would be $250 per eye, which I paid in full before each surgery. When I called the billing department to ask about these costs, I was told the $250 per eye should have been called an "estimate", which it was not. The woman said she's talked to the office before about how they need to tell us they are "estimates". Mine was NOT explained as an estimate but as a total out of pocket expense. I would have never gone here had I known the problems I would encounter. read more

Love, love, love this place. Best place to have your eyes examined. Wait is not long and they are amazing with kids. My son wears glasses and they are so kind and patient with him. The staff is amazing and takes their time with you and you DONT feel rushed looking for glasses. They want to make sure they are the ones you want and fit correctly. My first experience with Michigan Vision occurred a few years ago when I could not see my normal ophthalmologist (full schedule) for an eye exam after a potential minor eye injury. That experience with Dr. Stack at their old location set the stage for this year's Annual Eye Exam. Due to a change in my insurance benefit design for medical, I contacted Michigan Vision. Flash forward to my appointment: Check in was smooth, my wait was short. So short that I wasn't able to finish my cup of coffee from their coffee bar. LOL! But thats okay. Having been that emergency patient a few years prior, I know wait times can be short, or, totally understand they can be much longer if an emergency arises. So I always come prepared with something to read. This visit I was examined by another physician in the practice, Dr. Alrawi (spelling?). Dr. Alrawi explained not only the test results, but took the time to succinctly answer my questions. Would I return? in a heartbeat and will be myself when I am due for my 12 month eye exam. read more

I had an annual exam. The appointment ran on time. The facility is very clean and Covid-19 conscious. I have a skin lesson on my lower eyelid. Dr. Stack was very patient in explaining all of my options on treating it or choosing to watch it. I was very satisfied with my visit. read more

Be ready to wait. They told me it'd be a quick in and out field vision test. Waited almost an hour just to go back. Went in for my contact lens fitting and the girl hands me a paper and says I'll be responsible for "$50-$150 maybe more maybe less." Umm... What? I said I don't feel comfortable with that at all and she says she'll go talk to the people at the front desk to find out. She comes back and says "yep you're responsible" I said responsible for what? $50-$150 maybe more maybe less? She says "they can always reimburse you." I said, I'm fine I'll go back to my old eye doctor that always could tell me what I'm paying for up front. read more

After waiting 4 weeks to make an appointment and taking a day off to do so (as I normally work 6a-6p) my appointment took an outrageous 90 minutes. I can be patient, but Dr. Labaza insulted me by making a comment about how old I looked (ps, I'm 28). When I tried to buy new glasses, they made multiple mistakes running my insurance (wasting about another 30 minutes of my day, I never did end up getting those glasses...). After getting fit for some new contacts, they refused to write me a prescription until I had a follow up appointment. As if that wasn't enough, When I tried to call back and make another appointment, the follow up hours were restricted and I couldn't make an appointment with any other doctor. For a working women who needs extended hours, this vision center was completely inflexible even though I tried to be. I am now stuck with a new prescription I can't fill. As a physician myself, I am fairly patient with other providers, however this was an outrageous waste of time and insurance money. read more

How do you rate a vision institute that makes a customer wait 3 months after surgery to get the right corrective lenses..? How do you rate an optometrist that takes 3 attempts to make glasses that actually fit and are made as prescribed? How do you rate a pair of frames that turn green within 90 days and the customer is told that there is NO Warranty on them? How do you rate a business that charges you an office fee when the visit is about the result of poor surgery results..? If I had the chance to do it all over again, I never would have stepped foot into this business, let alone let them do surgery on my eyes. "Your eyes are going to be like new again... and most people don't even need glasses after surgery", they said. Ha ha. The joke was on me because I now have to wear TRIFOCALS to see anything. I see flashes of light, like strobe lights. It's difficult go into a store with fluorescent lights because of the flashing. I have lost my ability to pan ( look around ) a room as this gives me vertigo. No. I am not happy with my experience at Michigan Vision Institute. I should have known that when you are on disability that you only get the bare minimum of care and treatment, especially when I was offered the "better" surgery for $1400 more per eye but I could not afford it. read more
