This placed was recommended by word of mouth. We brought our little pupper here for vaccines and the he provide affordable options that wnt cost you an arm or leg like other veterinarian services. Its is far out into the county if your don't reside nearby but definitely worth the drive. The staff for the most part are friendly. Check in takes severals minutes so arrive earlier than expected. The place is clean and tidy and has a waiting area. Unlike other Vetenarian you unable to go in the back with your pet. They do have a public restroom. No wifi. Bring a book or cell phone to entertain yourself. They do take cards and apple pay.

I bring all of my pets here for any care they need. In 2021, my dog contracted parvo, despite having all of her vaccinations. We took her to an emergency vet in Albuquerque and they demanded almost $4,000 upfront and then proceeded to tell us that my dog would die if we left. A friend recommended we call East Mountain Veterinary Service and they got us in immediately. Echo (my dog) received extraordinary care and we received updates the whole time she was admitted. They are extremely compassionate and empathetic and they really care about their furry patients. I cannot recommend this place enough.

I can't believe there is only 1 review of this office. Found out about them from Nextdoor. They are literally the one common answer to if my dog has a serious problem where do you take them. We had a chihuahua who we lost to kidney disease. They never saw her as she passed before appointment but they were the ONLY vet I spoke to on the phone who gave me true accurate and thorough information. At no cost over the phone. Our new pup from the Albuquerque city shelter had what we thought was kennel cough. They prescribed meds, which no one else had. Then at end of meds she had a violent cough. Their urgent care fit her in on a very busy day. And diagnosed her with bronchitis. Didn't even know dogs could get. I won't call out other vet we used but with East Mountain you get a really well oiled expert machine. Their phone skills, communication and follow up are all top of the line. Here is their website https://eastmountainvetservice.com/ And here is a pic of our little Berry. She was a stray from Albuquerque shelter. Thank you east mt for all you have done for her and our late Rosie the angel.

As a lifetime animal owner and previous rescue manager - I am absolutely 100% happy with the service I've had at East Mountain Vet Service. I had to take 2 younger dogs ( less than 2 years old) to get their vaccines and a check up.) the Dr and everyone was very patient, thorough and great with my 2 rescue pups. I later had to take my 2 older dogs in to be euthanized- something I take very seriously- it is emotional enough to lose a life long companion but two was even worse. The quiet, calm setting with blankets on the floor so I could be right with them was the best. I thanked the Doc through my tears as I know this is the hardest part of his job. The passion and compassion I saw from Dr Dixon was above and beyond what I have seen from so many other vets - 25 years in rescue I've seen a lot. If you care about your animals, this is the place you want to go. Thank you Dr Dixon and all the staff for the care you give all the animals!

Compassion candle when a pet family member needs to put to rest

I live in Albuquerque so this is quite a drive for me but it is well worth it especially for bloodwork and dental work which can easily cost hundreds to thousands of dollars. Services are very affordable compared to other clinics in town. More than the prices, what really sold me is the compassion candle. I have not seen this before. I silently cried with the family whose dog has to be put down on the day I visited. Everyone observed silence and respected the family's need for time and privacy. This clinic is always busy and they only have two veterinarians currently. Be sure to make your routine care appointment months in advance. They do prioritize urgent care and emergency visits so no worries on that part. There are some visits though where you will not see a veterinarian at all but their technicians are well trained to help you. But if you are that animal parent who NEEDS to see a veterinarian every time, this place is not for you. Phones are always busy so they make it convenient by having an amazing texting system. I don't think animals are covered by HIPAA so no violations there. And yes, I recommend this place even with high gas prices right now.

We paid them to murder our pup. Recently, we brought our otherwise healthy baby girl, into Canyon Crossroads Animal Hospital for a cut to her nose. It was determined to be a non emergency routine wound care visit. We were so grateful, she was our child, our beloved everything. During the visit, she was given a dose of medication despite her medical records indicating not to, they took her to the back and proceeded to give her a sedative via IV without informed consent, they failed to keep her at the clinic to make sure she didn't react adversely to anything, they let her go after 12 minutes, visibly shaking and reacting to the medication I asked if she should stay for a bit to make sure she was ok. We were assured she'd be fine, and were told to go out the back of the clinic so we wouldn't upset anyone in the lobby we foolishly paid our bill only to have our cherished beloved one of a kind more than just a dog baby girl die in our arms on our cold driveway only a few hours after this visit. When I requested the medical records and an explanation of exactly what caused her sudden death following a routine procedure, wherein we were assured, promised! she would be fine! I was met with evasion, hostility, no answers, until a few days later when the owner had "...had time to review records and could answer any questions I may have." aka wagons circled, medical records got edited and everyone was told the script to follow. Please don't make the same mistakes we made. Go elsewhere. Take a look at all of the reviews. So many people suffering the same loss we are under similar circumstances. We understand our options are limited, and no remedy seems to be harsh enough when it comes to the loss we feel. Please please help us make our loss mean something...she would be happy to know her story helped another loving pet avoid the same fate and please caution anyone considering trusting this clinic with their beloved pets to look elsewhere.

I have presented her with several types of animals with issues over the years and she has NEVER left me looking for another vet. What I like the most, though, is her approach to having me, the owner, follow steps to remedy the ailing animal at home and to this point I have had a 100% success with seeing my pets through some real tough times. A great addition to the services she provides at her practice in the East Mountains is that she finds the time to provide excellent and very affordable shot clinics throughout the county. I mean what kind of urgent care doesn't accept walk ins? Come on Albuquerque vets get it together! Yikes! Anyways I was happy to get help right away as I was worried about my dog in the condition she was in. To be frank I was honestly avoiding this trip the previous couple days hoping the issue with my dog would resolve itself. Unfortunately by the 3rd day it appeared worse so I had to get my dog checked. Everything went great until they showed me the estimate for a diagnostic test. Oh boy that was a hard pill for me to swallow. Hesitantly I agreed to paying the bill. After about 3 hrs they were able to get a diagnosis and send me off with some stuff to help my dog. I am grateful to see my dog on the mend since my visit but the cost was hard to stomach. I honestly hope I don't need to bring her back in anytime soon cuz my wallet definitely can't bare the expense. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We boarded our cat at Juan Tabo Animal clinic several times when leaving, and no matter how short in advance I called, they were always able to accommodate us. My cat would be showered with love and praise every time he came in. I had another senior cat who I was ready to let go because he had just stopped eating and I was afraid was in kidney failure - Dr. Sweeney convinced me to let them hydrate my cat and keep him overnight for antibiotics and I was surprised that my cat survived. About a year later, when the same senior cat became ill again, there was zero judgement and so much care from the clinic when we made the decision to euthanize, and they even stayed late so that I could make it home from work to be there with my husband. More recently, my dog Zeke had been acting strange and having a difficult time standing up. I brought him in on what was clearly a busy day, and within 2 hours, we had labs and imaging. Dr. Crisler worked through her lunch to withdraw fluid that had collected around my dog's lungs that would aid in the diagnosis of a very aggressive form of cancer. We were given the option of referral to local oncology for treatment, but opted to go a more comfort-based route which Dr. Crisler helped us with by prescribing medications that would help make our dog more comfortable. We unfortunately were not able to get our dog in to the clinic to euthanize, but he passed peacefully at home, and the clinic assisted us in getting him cremated which we so appreciate. I appreciate that they have recently expanded their hours by hiring more staff which makes it easy to get an appointment in a reasonable amount of time. I feel that the staff there really care about the animals and go above and beyond to care for my pets. I will continue to go there for the care of my animals.
