It seems to have gone downhill. You're sent to a room and then they take your animal out of the room for examination. The information you tell them seems to be skewed on the paper work. Always asking for money down. When your pet is staying the night for medical assistance, when they call for the well check, they ask for more money down or for what the current balance is. Always sends you emails to buy stuff from them. When I made the appointment and then I came in for my appointment, the technician seemed confused on what I was exactly doing there. she thought I was leaving my pet. I clarified that we need to find out what is wrong with him. I drive a long distance to bring my pets here cuz of the what used to be good care and decent prices. But now I'm second guessing my choice. I never write reviews good or bad, but that have crossed some lines with me at this point. And when it's a member of your Family, it tends to make you more emotional anyway. Im not sure I will bring any of my fur babies back. I definitely need a cooling off period. read more

First of all, don't provide a phone number to call if no one is going to answer the phone. Very unprofessional. I've left messages that i never receive a call back on . But will get a text message immediately after stating if we left a message not to text because I would receive a call back. My time is important and I'm no longer wasting my time and energy on a vet practice that doesn't take their business seriously. Do better, hire someone to man the phones and schedule appointments none of this leave a message shit with no call back. All i needed to do was schedule an appointment. Got tired of waiting and will be taking my business and animals to someone who cares about their patients and their owners. What if this was an emergency situation why provide a phone number for after hour emergencies when you cant even answer your phone during regular business hours... shame on you. read more

Other than the wait times for regular appointments, we are extremely satisfied with the care our dogs are receiving from Dr. Dixon. We had an emergency visit on Memorial Day weekend. They saw Snuggles right away, did bloodwork and an x-ray and sent her home with three different medications. All this for around $650.00. The dental for my Collie/Border Collie a few years ago was $300 out the door, with meds. Albuquerque veterinarian Clinics were quoting $1000 and up. Believe me, it's well worth the drive. read more

The location is a little out of the way but I found it to be worth the drive. A steady line of dogs and their owners continued to arrive throughout the day. The team is very professional and goes through a thorough questionnaire, describing each treatment as she explained for my two senior teacups. It took about 3-4 hours to complete so I wandered into the small town only to find a Super, Super, Super Walmart. The largest Walmart I've ever seen. It was easy for me to ramble through the wide aisles. As I headed to the checkout, I received a call saying my pups were ready for pickup. The best surprise was the cost for both was a little over $1,000. One recommendation: Pay to have X-rays so all teeth roots are easily examined. read more

Was told I could not schedule a follow up appt but they would call to set one up but never heard from them. For the amount of money I spent I don't think there's any excuse. A Heartbreaking Shift from Personal Care to Impersonal Processing I used to be a vocal advocate for East Mountain Vet, but the decline in their service is devastating. Years ago, you could count on real answers and a genuine connection with the staff. Today, that has been replaced by automated systems and endless waiting. The emergency "drop-off" process is particularly flawed. I was promised that my questions would be addressed at pickup, but that was a total "LIE". Instead of speaking with a Veterinarian or a Vet Tech, I was met by an office attendant who had no medical knowledge of my pet's case. They have NO CLUE. They simply read from the discharge papers and couldn't answer basic questions, resulting in a "deer in the headlights" look and zero clarity. They will leave the room in search of answers, but because that office is so busy they come back with no more knowledge then when they left the room. I left that office without seeing the x-rays I paid for, and more importantly, without any peace of mind. It is a factory-line approach to medicine that lacks any shred of the compassion they once had. I miss the old days of care and communication they gave. That is long gone. Word to the wise. Look for another veterinarian to take your pets. This place will leave you with money out of your pocket and unanswered questions. read more

Absolutely horrible experience. First and last. You have to pick up your animal at their appointed time without your approval and if you don't well your pet stays till you can. Communication was horrible. I received emails that's didn't align with what the receptionist was saying. When they called to ask if I had questions I relayed the emails info and ask what that was and was told the emails are generated??? Then when transferred from receptionist to the dr working on my animal; that was completely different from the other two. The owner told me I was the reason people quit health care (because I was crying over why I couldn't pick up my animal) and said why should he help me if I was going to write a bad review. I originally chose East Mountain Vet to clean my cat's teeth because I believed it was the cause of her hyper-salivation. East Mountain Vet's cleaning cost was significantly less than that of other vets, but I realize that because they discount their prices so severely, they recoup their profits by seeing far more animals than a typical vet. Because of their high animal caseload, they are unable to provide adequate, caring, or complete care to their clients. I am gravely disappointed in their care, and during the entire time that I dealt with them, I never once met the Vet or spoke to him on the phone. I only spoke to Vet Techs and other office assistants. After a poor surgery they performed this year, my cat was unable to retract her tongue, clean herself, eat, or drink water. She slowly began to starve to death an I euthanized her a month after her East Mountain Vet surgery. I will never take another pet of mine to East Mountain Vet, and I urge others to reconsider taking their pets to East Mountain Vet, unfortunately. read more

Its is far out into the county if your don't reside nearby but definitely worth the drive. The staff for the most part are friendly. Check in takes severals minutes so arrive earlier than expected. The place is clean and tidy and has a waiting area. Unlike other Vetenarian you unable to go in the back with your pet. They do have a public restroom. No wifi. We were driving from MN to AZ when our dog, Ruby, became ill. We searched for a nearby vet, found East Mountain, and described what was going on. With less than an hour left of business hours they not only agreed to see our pup, but insisted on it. Thank goodness! Not only did they figure out what was causing Ruby to be sick, they were able to prescribe meds and told us exactly what to do if things don't improve. We took her to an emergency vet in Albuquerque and they demanded almost $4,000 upfront and then proceeded to tell us that my dog would die if we left. A friend recommended we call East Mountain Veterinary Service and they got us in immediately. Echo (my dog) received extraordinary care and we received updates the whole time she was admitted. Terrible communication!! I brought my dog, Winston, in because he hasn't been able to keep any food or water down. They diagnosed him with gastroenteritis and kept him for 5 days. They did a barium study and the person I spoke to on the phone said it went through and he passed it. They sent him home yesterday after saying he was doing much better. On the car ride home he was coughing and throwing up. It seemed like we didn't even take him to a vet. They charged us $1400, yet he had not improved. Today, I left a bad review on google. They called us and explained they are here to help, and mentioned the "filling defects" in the barium study. WHAT? We had no knowledge of this until now! They did the study on the 25th and today is the 30th. Out of all things, the MOST important thing they could've notified us about, they failed to do so. They then began suggesting an exploratory surgery that would start at $1500. Because of financial constraints, and the fact that we've already paid $1400, we cannot put him through surgery. And frankly, I do NOT trust them whatsoever to even go near my dog anymore. We are requesting a partial refund for their mistakes and for not doing anything to actually help my puppy. I am so disappointed in this vet. If Winston dies, this will be the second dog of mine that they've failed to help. read more

I can't believe there is only 1 review of this office. Found out about them from Nextdoor. They are literally the one common answer to if my dog has a serious problem where do you take them. We had a chihuahua who we lost to kidney disease. They never saw her as she passed before appointment but they were the ONLY vet I spoke to on the phone who gave me true accurate and thorough information. At no cost over the phone. Our new pup from the Albuquerque city shelter had what we thought was kennel cough. They prescribed meds, which no one else had. Then at end of meds she had a violent cough. Their urgent care fit her in on a very busy day. And diagnosed her with bronchitis. Didn't even know dogs could get. I won't call out other vet we used but with East Mountain you get a really well oiled expert machine. Their phone skills, communication and follow up are all top of the line. I sit here, in hesitation about whether I should write this or not. I brought my dog here because he ate an entire bag of vit D3 with K2. It was rx strength and he ate the whole bag. I brought them the bag, they kept the bag. ASPCA has a poison control number that you pay $100 and tell them what happened and they will work with the vet on a treatment plan. Vit D3 is extremely toxic to dogs. They kept him 10 days, said they gave him fluids, and started out with that and prednisone. After 5 days, extremely vague email updates, techs who were nice but didn't know anything, there wasn't much improvement in his labs. I was told to start thinking about palliative/comfort measures. STILL NO CALL FROM THE VET. I was told to respond to the emails. I did, every one went unanswered I was told they were going to try a more aggressive treatment. Increase fluids, add potassium gluconate, and a diuretic like spironolactone. I was never told what kind of fluids he was getting, the rate that he was getting them, and why they can't try other treatments as well. Everything went unanswered. Labs were only done every other day, and he measured total calcium amd not ionized. Ionized gives a more accurate value. On day 8, it appeared as though he was getting better. I had done so much research. Dr. Dixon said that he was afraid about what would happen to his calcium levels once the fluids were stopped. I told him. I needed to speak to him and get a discharge plan. Never did. Got a call early that morning to pick him up at 1130. My sister went. I wanted to know what his calcium levels were before he left. They weren't normal, but almost normal and he was acting pretty good. I needed him home. I just had a bad feeling. Less than 24 hours later. We're at the ER vet. His symptoms returned almost immediately The emergency vet was amazing! I had drained my savings paying for this substandard care. I was considering having to put him down. They said he needs hospitalization, poison control case, cholestyrimine, biphosphinates. STUFF I HADNT EVEN KNOWN WAS AN OPTION, LET ALONE A NECESSITY!!!! I was sobbing. The vet took pity on me, went to her medical director and offered 2 days hospitalization for free!!!!! To say I was overjoyed was an understatement. It brings tears to my eyes still. I don't know if it will work. Vit D3 toxicity is tricky. Dr. Dixon gave the wrong fluids, he didn't give the meds he said he would. The only thing he did for my dog according to his itemized bill was everyday the same thing. Bag of Lactated ringers Antibiotics Steroids BTW, Lactated ringers has...... you guessed it....... CALCIUM!!!!! Let me be clear. I'm not out to ruin reputations, businesses, etc. I'm not even saying he's bad vet. I just think he is totally overwhelmed. His business model see. Last Thursday morning I brought my dog in to have her teeth cleaned and any needed extractions. A vet tech explained my options in services, and I elected to have some blood work done as she had recently had several accidents in the house. I received a text in the afternoon when it was time to pick her up. She did need to have 4 teeth extracted. I was given pain medication and antibiotics to administer to her at home. She is doing well. I am pleased with the care she received. I did not see the vet, but the vet tech was an informed, caring person that answered my questions. read more

Kept my dog for over 24 hours with no definite info, from a qualified staff member, on test results. I had been told I would get results within 3-4 hours. Can't get ahold of staff by phone. The message says 1/2 to 1 hour response. I waited by the phone all day with only more then 1 hr responses by staff that knew nothing. Was told the vet would call mid-morning - he did not. One staff member just left me on hold (over 10 minutes until I hung up) when I challenged their not providing information. I finally had to drive back to the clinic and demand to know what was being done to my dog. Found out he was still in horrible pain. Although I was verbally told at least 3 times they would give him something for pain, they never did. Worst experience ever regarding euthanizing a pet. read more

As a lifetime animal owner and previous rescue manager - I am absolutely 100% happy with the service I've had at East Mountain Vet Service. I had to take 2 younger dogs ( less than 2 years old) to get their vaccines and a check up.) the Dr and everyone was very patient, thorough and great with my 2 rescue pups. I later had to take my 2 older dogs in to be euthanized- something I take very seriously- it is emotional enough to lose a life long companion but two was even worse. The quiet, calm setting with blankets on the floor so I could be right with them was the best. I thanked the Doc through my tears as I know this is the hardest part of his job. The passion and compassion I saw from Dr Dixon was above and beyond what I have seen from so many other vets - 25 years in rescue I've seen a lot. I live in Albuquerque so this is quite a drive for me but it is well worth it especially for bloodwork and dental work which can easily cost hundreds to thousands of dollars. Services are very affordable compared to other clinics in town. More than the prices, what really sold me is the compassion candle. I have not seen this before. I silently cried with the family whose dog has to be put down on the day I visited. Everyone observed silence and respected the family's need for time and privacy. This clinic is always busy and they only have two veterinarians currently. Be sure to make your routine care appointment months in advance. They do prioritize urgent care and emergency visits so no worries on that part. There are some visits though where you will not see a veterinarian at all but their technicians are well trained to help you. But if you are that animal parent who NEEDS to see a veterinarian every time, this place is not for you. Phones are always busy so they make it convenient by having an amazing texting system. I don't think animals are covered by HIPAA so no violations there. And yes, I recommend this place even with high gas prices right now. read more

We took my cat for a visit a while back and overall, we were extremely displeased at the service. First the good: they fit my cat in for a drop off appointment quickly. Not all vets can do that, and I appreciated them doing so. The not so good: This clinic's business model seems to be high volume. Our appointment was a drop off for the vet to squeeze her in when they could during the day. When we checked in they give us a buzzer to wait for however long to actually get checked in. A tech was assigned and they came to us to get paperwork done once the buzzer went off. For pick up (end of service) we waited for about 35 minutes with a buzzer. Of note during our pick up wait, we watched a couple get turned away when coming in at their scheduled appointment time THAT THE CLINIC SET. Upon arrival, the tech told them the vet chose to go to lunch and they could go grab coffee or lunch for about an hour. They asked why the clinic would set an appointment time for them if they wouldn't see them, and the tech just said "well the vet's gone so I don't know what you want me to do about it." Then they locked the door for lunch. I believe they set their appointment time for 15 before they close for lunch, and apparently the vet went a few minutes early. I was not those people, but had I taken off work to make an appointment time and been told to go disappear for an hour so they could take lunch, I probably would have billed them for my time in my rage. The tech for me, upon arrival, asked me a couple questions about the cat, then asked for my budget and what was the max amount I would be willing to spend on care so they "wouldn't go over it". I told them if any tests etc. were going push me over $500 I would like a call about what it was for and to understand its reason in relation to a diagnosis or pursuit of a diagnosis. I said $500 isn't a hard number, but I would like a call to understand where we were going if it began to escalate over that. They kept my cat for observation. And kept her for more observation. And more. They called us to pick her up when we, ironically, hit $500 for them keeping her. We got a bunch of meds that the tech didn't really explain the why for her needing them, especially with the diagnosis in medical terms for unknown inflammation of the gut. They did accurately describe how to administer said medication. When i asked questions, a tech said I could email a vet and they would try and get back to me in 5-7 days. She was on antibiotics, and when I asked why, the tech said she seemed to do better on them, but I would need to email the vet for specifics. Not tests showed high counts of bacteria, just my cat with stomach issues on a fast to rest her gut, given antibiotics during the fast from food, seemed better. Her problem was when she ate food to clarify. THE VET NEVER ONCE DEIGNED TO VERBALLY SPEAK TO US. We got an email each day stating the vet looked at her and generalized notes about her gut seeming to be inflamed. Also in those emails was a note to not exceed $500. As far as I could tell, they didn't do tests. At best, they did and poorly communicated none of it, and at worst, they didn't and just kept my cat until they hit $500. Our bill showed we hit almost exactly $500 plus the meds after. She was slightly better at home, but then devolved two weeks later with the same issue. Overall, it felt like we were a number, that they did the bare minimum of care, let us hit $500, then sent us out. It felt like whatever budget number you gave them is what they Looked at more than the care. It did not feel like a good experience, and it felt like they were not really interested in determining my cat's issue. I'm not saying this is so, but this is what it felt like to us. for what it is worth, I think much of this stems from their actual business model not a lack of compassion for animals. We took her to a different vet clinic in Albuquerque and the vet there did blood tests, asked questions, and recommended a special food for cats with high sensitivity to starches to try to maybe help, or rule out such an issue. I also received a call for the results of the blood lab, which were clear and normal. The cat is great now- supper happy cat back to her old self. One visit, did tests, no stay, and a recommendation based on her expertise and experience. The thing you'd expect from a doctor. She even verbally communicated with us. Amazing. Ironically, it was less money too. We will not be returning to the East Mountain veterinary Service. I'm sure people have had good experiences here, but we absolutely did not. read more

I have been happy with East Mountain in the past, although I was a little weirded out the time they pulled seven of my dogs teeth a few years ago and refused to send home pain meds saying "little dogs heal fast" but I thought "oh well, farm vets, what are you going to do" and their prices are competitive. That is, until my senior service dog nearly died over Christmas weekend. I took her in Thursday night with abdominal firmness and shaking and pain. They said they would hospitalize her, keep her on IV fluids, and do barium X-rays. Then they told me the X-rays found constipation and food bloat, and recommended more IV fluids, and an enema, which I agreed to. On Sunday at noon, they discharged my dog, I assume because they wanted the clinic empty for the holiday, I received my 10 year old mini dachsund back with only a diagnosis of "idiopathic gastroenteritis", some stool softener, and some antibiotics. She could not stand unassisted, would not drink water, and still had a firm stomach. She had no wrap from an IV insertion point. As the night went on she developed a fever and chills, and her eyes rolled back in her head and she shook. Her eyes were dull and her heart raced and I really thought I was going to lose her as I begged her to take drops of apple juice from my fingers. I called another emergency clinic who got her in, and said that she seemed very severely, life threatening dehydrated, as though she has not had any fluids for days, and they could find no evidence of subcutaneous or IV fluid administration. Her labs there showed no evidence of gastroenteritis, and a rectal exam showed no food bloat or constipation, rather the opposite. Imaging at this vet showed that she was actually suffering from intervertebral disk degeneration and a back injury (very common for dachsunds, one in four gets it) and her stomach was only hard from clenching her muscles so hard to stabilize her back. If EMV had really done X-rays they would have seen that she had that injury, and seen that she had no bloat. They thought they knew what was wrong and could skip the imaging, and that I would never know the difference. They almost killed my dog in the process. And why did they not give her fluids????? When I asked East Mountain to send me the X-rays they took they said they could send them "Wednesday, maybe, but you are welcome to bring Chloe back in" which I'm sure was so they could quickly take them, and bill me again for another hospital stay. But no. This office will never touch my pets again. The trust is broken. I used to recommend you to everyone. No thanks to East Mountain, Chloe is recovering and has a soft stomach from only muscle relaxers, pain meds, and bed rest, because it is a back injury and not bloat. Don't make the mistake I did and almost lose your service animal of ten years. They're cutting corners and it might cost you, both money for services not needed or rendered, and in your beloved pet's life and health. read more

One of hardest things to do is deal with an emergency on your fur baby. A week an a half ago, our old man pup Boots, collapsed. We worked to get him in anywhere, and on a Memorial Day weekend. We called, and we received a text within a minute from them asking if we come in "now" We got there, they took Boots in, and began work. He was a sick Doggo. While he was there, we received a call every morning giving updates. We also could text with questions during the day. They fought for him, and we wanted to visit, we were able to se him for 15 mins so we love on him. He lost his fight.... and the Vet called us herself. They also provide after care, you can have a paw print, made, a private cremation, urn, all the services that are available for humans. They are a busy practice, but it's full of care and compassion. If you live in the east mountains, this is a great service for the care of your fur buddy. read more

This was a while ago but I think it's worth it to share. Our dog had tried to jump a large wall and ended up tearing his radial nerve in his shoulder, which caused his front right leg to become paralyzed. We had to get it amputated and we went to East Mountain because they would do it cheaper than someplace in Albuquerque. When we got there it was very quiet and there were no dogs or really any other animals. We went into a large barn which served as an office, kennel, and surgical suit. While I was signing the papers, the man I was with offered to have I believe the vet tech go get my dog from the car. My dog was very nervous, was in a new place, and had just been in an hour long car ride. A couple moments later I see the vet tech literally yanking my scared whimpering dog across the floor of the barn (he was a dane/lab mix so large) and just tossing him into a kennel, like my dog was just some heavy object. I was appalled by the complete lack of remorse and regard for my dog, his condition, and just the fact that he was a living breathing animal and didn't deserve to be handled like that. I was very nervous to leave him there but did anyway. We came back the day later to pick him up and when we took him home and got the bandages off, he has gaping holes in his incision as if the vet decided just a few loosely done stitches on a 6 inch incision was good enough. We tried to let it heal but the would became infected and we had to take him to our normal vet, who agreed it was absolutely terrible. You could literally see muscle mass through the holes. I don't know if they have improved since then, but I think it's worth it to tell anyone going here about this experience. I was a little calmer the first time sitting down to write this review, but after everything and talking with other clients.... STAY AWAY FROM EMVS!!! Please take the time to read other reviews on Yelp. It's the stuff of nightmares for pet owners. We have taken the dogs to EMVS for general exams, and once for treatment of an infection. And have TRIED to get service for other issues, 2 more times... This last time we were met with NO response for almost 2 hours after being contacted and explaining the problem(My dog was unwell and honestly we're all lucky that she ended up okay after waiting that long for us to get guidance. We were in the middle of no where at the time, and couldn't just easily get her to someone without extreme difficulty and time!). This all happened over text -they won't call you-. But the information received and relayed by the vet tech would've taken about 30 seconds over the phone!! But I will say tech seemed to not even want to answer my questions... You will never see the Vet here, and it makes me SICK that I allowed my pups to be taken to the "back" to be looked at. AND that I have never even met the veterinarians that practice here?! What is that? Im honestly still in shock at the experiences we have had at this place. I cannot fathom trying them again. We and the pups will never be returning or -especially- recommending. First off, this is not a reflection on the vets at this place. I'm sure they are very good at what they do. This is an incite as to the SERVICE. On Saturday we brought our 10.5 year old dog(baby) in to have his eyes checked We received an email telling us he was good, had conjunctivitis and they would call or text us with a pick up time. We NEVER RECEIVED EITHER and at 5 ish we received an email saying that they would be keeping him and we could pick him up MONDAY... WHAT?????? We immediately called and texted them to first off see why and what was going on There response was that they tried to contact us but we didn't respond so they close at 4 and we could not get him until MONDAY!!! I explained that we NEVER GOT A CALL, VOICEMAIL,OR TEXT until AFTER 530. they again said they texted and left voicemail. I went into my account and there was no record of any calls or voicemails. THEY CALLED THE WRONG NUMBER or called someone else. I had to leave work 3 hours early to go get him Monday morning, Be prepared if you take your animal here. You are NOT allowed to go in with them or talk to the doctor. You are handed a beeper and a tech is your only communication. They whisk your pet/family member away and you have no idea what is happening until they are good and ready to let you know(if they call the right number) and you are not allowed to call until after 5 if they haven't contacted you. When I picked my boy up he looked exhausted and haggard Upon bringing him outside he peed dark urine. I then put him in the car and he was fidgeting so I stopped and brought him out again and he peed and peed and peed like I have never seen him pee before. He was walking and peeing it was awful. When I got him home he went into the backyard and pooped THREE TIMES. Then he drank and drank and drank. THEN he ate like he hadn't eaten in two day , OH probably because he hadn't. I don't think they took him out to go to the bathroom the entire time he was there so now I know why he didn't eat because he had to go. I will NEVER bring my animal back. The front desk is a cluster F no one knows who's on first and when they screw up they turn it around to be your fault. I expressed my feeling to the tech outside and another customer over heard it and when the tech left told me they had expressed the same concerns to the office but to no avail. Also, they had been waiting for 6 months for results from a biopsy. We also had biopsy's on both dogs and haven't heard any results. I think they take on too much and have put profits over basic human compassion. When you do call its a phone tree with times that you can call and leave a message stating they will call you back within 30 minutes to an hour but that never happens either, VERY AGGREVATING WE ARE DONE read more

We took our cat here in an emergency. The paperwork stated if you wanted an update from the vet, it would be $100 more otherwise it would be a staff member. I've never heard of that unless it was a routine visit. The updates didn't state much and we were never informed what the blood panel showed or what exactly he was being treated for. They did a barium treatment, but said they saw nothing unusual..so why do it? Was it a foreign object, pancreatitis or what? They diagnosed it as gastroenteritis yet never asked what food, treats, etc he was eating. He went in on Tuesday and we picked him up on Saturday and the bill was around $985. We were sent home with meds that no one could tell us exactly what it was for or what it does. One was an eye drop and his eyes are perfectly fine. They said one was red, but it wasn't a scratch which led us to believe maybe something happened to him there. We weren't given any instructions leaving on how to care for him going forward except the medicine dosage. We emailed the vet to get some answers and were told it could be up to 4 business days to receive a response. read more

My dog has been hospitalized there four times in the last couple of months. He's older and he has hepatitis. Every time he gets IV fluids and a different antibiotic. In 4 hospitalizations I haven't been able to get a straight answer about whether it is chronic or acute; what I can do at home to keep him as healthy as possible. I have spent $2500 on these four visits, have not received any feedback as to keeping him healthy at home. No feedback. Every time I ask to speak to the vet; that's not possible. When I left there on Monday, I said firmly, "I need to meet the vet."Their response is, " OK but we don't have any openings till July and you will have to pay for an office visit to confer with the doctor." Omg. Maybe they don't even have a vet there. Maybe it's just the office staff and the vet techs. Cannot believe the audacity. They don't believe that I deserve to talk with the doctor sooner, and that I must pay an appointment fee to talk with the doctor. I call BS. read more

Best vet EVER! worth the drive! My Simon is SOOO healthy now after 17 teeth out and a fatty cyst removed from under his right back leg! $400! Incredibly affordable. I was quoted $4,000 in Albuquerque by 2 vets... wasn't financially feasible for my family in this recession...on a retirement fixed inc9me 5hat won't keep up with inflation. DO NOT TAKE YOUR ANIMALS HERE!!!!! If their customer service was horrid, it would be an IMPROVEMENT! Been a customer for over 4 years. The first couple of years they were great, then things changed. We moved out of state last spring and have been trying since APRIL to get our animals medical records with NO LUCK. Between my fiancé and I, we've made at least 3 written requests and multiple phone calls (that they answered. They DON'T return phone calls) and gotten nothing but excuses and "We can't do that; the Doctor is the only one who can do that. e-mail a request in an he should respond within.................. We now have to pay for tests and X-rays that have already been done so we can get our animals seen by a new vet. read more

We live in Albuquerque in the Los Altos area. It is quite a drive back and forth to this Vet clinic. I have taken both my dogs to East Mountain for treatment. My older dog had a growth taken off his eye with a biobsy. His eye healed fine but the clinic did not call us when the stitches were to be removed. After several calls and messages through the awful phone tree, (which is a nightmare to get though and does not have the options you need for help) we were able to get the appointment for stitch removal only because we took our puppy to get a mass removed from her head. When we asked about the stitch removal appointment that they had not called about, they acted shocked that they had not done that yet. We still have not gotten the biopsy results from the eye growth. Our puppy had the mass removed from her head and is healing nicely. We are not taking her back to have the staples removed. After many calls and a form filled out on their website, I was able to have my older dog seen again for his eyes. He went to Urgent care on Saturday at 11:45. Urgent care is a drop off situation. We dropped him off on time and waited for a call to pick him up. We waited all day. By 4:50 PM we started calling them. Again, trying to communicate through the phone tree which shuts off at 5 PM with a msg about hours of business. I was able to leave a msg and then started texting with a tech from the clinic. The Tech informed me they would be keeping my boy until Monday because we had not come to pick him up. The tech said they tried to call several times on both our phone numbers and that we needed to update our information. I told the tech we were waiting all day and neither phone rang and no messages were left. The tech also stated that they close at 4 on saturday so they called before that time. The tech made it our mistake for not giving them updated information. Remember we were texting on the same phone number they supposedly called earlier. So now they are keeping my boy over the weekend and not with my permisson. I asked to come pick him up now and they said that pick up was by appointment only as they were now closed until Monday. This entire relationship with this Vet clinic has been so stressful and emotionally draining for our pets and our family. They don't allow the Family to go in with the pets and the only communication with the Doctors is done through the staff. The staff is nice but there is so much chaos in the waiting areas that everyone is overwhelmed. I think they either have too many appointments to be able to give time to concerned families or they don't have enough trained staff. read more
