Not only was their facility clean and followed protocol, but the staff was so welcoming and reassuring during a very stressful time for all. As our other children grew we happily enrolled them. Our two youngest also attended the preschool and could not have been more ready for kindergarten: socially, academically, and otherwise. In fact, our youngest of the bunch had major separation anxiety at first and the staff worked so hard to ensure that he was supported. Now he is the first one out of the car in the morning and runs to all his teachers. What we love about La Petite the most is the staff. Our children are safe, respected, and loved. Each of our four kids are very different, and yet the staff connects with them, makes them feel comfortable, and gives them a 'home away from home.' They work hard to create special events for the kids, clearly communicating if we need to make any arrangements, and working hard to make the party or happening special for the kids. The behind-the-scenes planning must be quite a lot of work, but they consistently look for opportunities to give the kids lasting memories. Our oldest recently aged out of the services and was very sad about not attending La Petite after school. His LPA teachers made sure to let him know he is always welcome, and each time he's "visited" the school to help me pick up his younger siblings it's like a homecoming. I know that parents put a lot of trust into their childcare provider and we will continue to recommend La Petite Academy, specifically this facility, to anyone who asks. They genuinely care about the well-being and social-emotional health of our little ones.

Over 2.5 months our child would constantly say that they didn't want to go to school because of this problem child but we were assured that the teachers were taking care of it, that they knew it was a problem and that the problem was being documented. We pulled our child out of the school once we realized that the problem was not being addressed, that the problem child was staying at the school (even though their policy dictates that the child should probably have been removed) and worst of all neglected to administer first aid for our child. Update: It's been over 2 weeks since we took our child out of their care. We still haven't heard back from the school.

I had many questions, new Exec Director was so patient. Dana is on top of everything - each classroom, the facility, safety, décor even! Billing as well and she's great with the children and the parents. She answered all my questions ever so patiently - exactly the demeanor you would expect from a place where children play. Our two yr old tried another facility in Naperville over the summer and although I had many friends tell me amazing things....my two year old still cried every time I dropped him off and it just wouldn't taper off after 3 weeks. Now that we are at Knowledge Beginnings he cried the first 4 days, and it tapered off!!! Now he walks in ready to go to "school" with his little backpack on. What a relief! For school age kids they bus before and after from area schools. They offer snacks and the kids do HW there. The prices are better than the safe n sound YMCA program. For little ones they have infant rooms, toddler rooms, preschool rooms, the facility is super clean and very nicely decorated! He comes home singing many new songs and tells us about his day "I played Play-Dough". Very cute. The teachers are great and the directors are awesome with feedback and will help in a constructive way. They offer breakfast, snack, lunch and PM snack. It's not organic life, but that's my only wish list item. It is nice to not have to pack lunch, and they do offer fruits and veggies. If you have specific dietary needs the exec director will work with you!

The center is clean and safe - and I feel the same way (more so actually) once we began sending her back once restrictions were lifted. I trust that my daughter's best interests are in mind and that she is safe and healthy while at KB.

I really love the staff as well - I feel completely spoiled by all the good people working at WSCA. In addition to classroom time, the kids alternate between music and motor movement so it really prepares your child for an elementary school day where they leave the classroom for specials. We are on our sixth teacher there and they are all great but Mrs. Snyder, Mrs. Gorkis and Mrs. Miller are THE BEST!!!!!! One of my favorite things about the school and the teachers is that they are very flexible and don't just care about your child that is your student - they care about your other kids and your whole family. Mrs. Gorkis only taught one of my daughters (wah) but she knew all of their names and would always address them by name and remember things that they had said and were interested in. We have one more year there after this year and I am going to be really, really sad when my youngest is in kindergarten and we won't attend this lovely school anymore. BEST. SCHOOL. EVER!!!!!!

My son attended Happy Times from fall of 2023 to spring of 2024. As an early childhood…read moreprofessional, I did great research into the quality of care and reputation of the schools in our neighborhood. Happy Times seemed like a place that followed modern educational philosophies, valued parental involvement and professional development for their teachers. About halfway through the year, I was alerted to some "alarming" behavior my son displayed-pretending to sword fight. I talked to my son immediately about why this behavior was not okay and would not be tolerated. However, my husband and I continued to be pressed to answer for his "alarming" sword-swinging behavior. The director described his behavior as "violent," "slitting throats" and "criminal." To hear my son's behavior defined as a "criminal" who was "slitting throats" sounded like a particular kind of dog-whistle that did not sit nicely. To be spoken to this way by my peers in the early education community was shocking. To be spoken to this way as a family in the community was heartbreaking. We have repeatedly asked in the past for our son's occupational therapist to be brought into the school and have repeatedly been either ignored or dismissed. We asked again if our OT could come into the classroom and observe for any particular sensory inputs that would have led to a meltdown. They cited a concern for children's and teacher's privacy, and also needing to accommodate two children with severe stranger anxiety. Because of these things, they could not allow outside individuals to enter the school. However, when asked why it is that they routinely allow librarians, firefighters, and other parents into the building, we were told that they have many children to take care of and couldn't just focus on our son. We asked our OT to join the conversation via email and were told, in writing, that they were denying access to in-school therapeutic services for our kid. It became increasingly clear during this conversation and the subsequent back and forth emails, that this was not about the caliber of my son's behavior. To my husband and I, it felt like a pointed condemnation of our parenting, a grab for power and respect, and a flagrant disregard for best practices in early education. I was appalled at this whole situation, and questioned my own judgment in choosing this school. As a POC raising another POC, I was sad for what my son had to learn so early in his life-that people will look at him differently and his behavior will be judged against years of institutional bias. I'm not writing this review to tar the pristine reputation of a long-standing school. I'm writing to inform parents who are making the fraught decision of judging who will be included in the care and raising of their children, and the internal moralities they hold. Families who are teaching their children to be kind and empathetic, families of color, families of neurodiverse children, diasporic parents looking for a sense of community and belonging, I hope you consider my review and what it might mean for your children.
