Worst dentist I've ever had. When numbing me I felt like the needle was pushed further than needed…read more I've had braces and been numbed before with different doctors all over Sioux Falls & it NEVER felt like this before. It seemed like the doctors and assistants were more concerned with their conversations than being gentle. Offered the TV just to talk over it... Also, when I came in for a cleaning the assistant kept scraping my gums very hard...again I've never had that during past cleanings so it felt unnecessary and done on purpose to cause pain. I mistakenly referred my mom to come here and they missed a diagnosis of a gum disease she had which eventually lead to tooth loss. Overall very unprofessional and shouldn't be open at all in my opinion. I've since transferred to 10th street dental and they're amazing !! From the sweet assistants always asking if everything's going fine to the doctor being informative and giving great advice !

I was uncomfortable all three times I had separate appointments. After the third visit, I knew I…read morewasn't going to return. My first issue was with the constant conversations the assistants and dentists were having while working on me. I understand some here and there but it was the entire experience. Nothing related to dentistry or my care. I needed fillings so had to be numbed. It was very quick and painful. I had never felt so much pain before like this previously with other doctors. It seemed very aggressive and little to no care about how I felt or made me more comfortable. During those times I was having my mouth rinsed and the assistant was almost drowning me. I choked a few times and they did pause to let me catch my breath but it didn't change. I even had some pieces left when it was over that I could feel from the fillings. It made me feel awful. I left with multiple cuts on the inside of my cheeks that lasted for days. I wanted to cry but I just wanted to get it over with so I just put up with it and tried my best not to choke before they were done. There was no full attention on me it seemed and when there was it wasn't caring. There were always women around hanging out and gossiping about their lives. I heard more about their lives than I did on the reality show on TV. I was scared already of dentists before and this made it even worse. I found a new dentist at a different location. The treatment is way kinder and empathetic to me. The numbing was even done slowly and carefully so as not to cause me any pain. It made a huge difference to me and, unfortunately, I didn't experience that with Dakota Dental.

Dr. Mike's follow up answered all my concerns and gave me recommendations and options for follow up work in a way I could understand easily.

I called your office at 4am to cancel my appointment and then again at 8am to verify that the office had received my cancellation. The Office Manager "Courtney" basically berated me for cancelling my appointment so close to the time I had to be in and then reprimanded me and then I was told I would never have morning appointments again because, "she needed time to fill in the appointment slot". I repeatedly asked her if I could call back (I stated 3 times that I was in my bathroom) and she completely ignored me, interrupted me and talked over me. There was no empathy, sympathy or understanding. She spoke to me like I was not a client and I was treated like a 4 year old child on the phone. I finally called back later in the afternoon to speak with her because I want to remind her and Dental Associates: I have been a steady and faithful client for almost 3 years. My family goes there and I have actually told friends and work associates to go there because your doctors are very good. Your #1 problem is your office staff. This is not the first time I have been spoken to or treated this way at your office or on the phone. I have never before cancelled an appointment and my bills are paid and always on time. I am seriously confused at the lack of client care. Stop treating your clients with medical conditions like they are a hindrance to your "appointment" schedule. Have a little heart when a client needs to cancel for a medical reason, it's not like I had a conflicting appointment with my manicurist. (On a side note: if you need to fill in appointment slots so fast, should you be a bit worried about your financial situation?) Today June 3, 2020 I received a letter form your office stating that you need $50.00 for my cancellation. Also, the $50.00 will not be paid and I will be sending the bill to my lawyer and if your business needs the $50.00 so badly, you can meet me in small claims court, because your lawyer might be good but not as good as mine. Effectively, my family and I are withdrawing our business from your office. Reminder: there are numerous dental offices in Sioux Falls that are looking for clients. You have lost 3 clients today and believe me the reviews we will be leaving on websites will not reflect how we have been treated in a positive light.

However, I felt that his stuff tended to become lesser responsible and managed to do something else for profit. For example, to persuade clients to purchase tooth-cleaning tools and merchandise, to persuade clients to accept some (but may be not necessary) treatments without telling the cost, such as laser treatment at a very expensive personal cost (only two teeth were needed but four teeth were treated); to sell HYDRO FLOSS that used to make my teeth bleed every time; to take X-ray photos (with a new machine different from that for annual tooth X-ray) after completing tooth clearance WITHOUT explanation before and after but I was asked to pay the full cost (which the insurance did NOT cover). I have to say goodbye! TT
