Stopped in for a tasty little lunch at the Owen Sound Eastside Marios... I've been to many East side Mario's but this place really seems to have it together! The service was unbeatable and the food was thumbs up all around! I was hesitant to order the veal Parmesan sandwich with peppers because I've had so many great versions of this in Toronto but they did not disappoint and even with special requests like hot peppers, they accommodated and I was very happy! This place has gotten just worse and worse over time! I order about once a week from here delivery for my husband and I and omg it's just gotten awful! Last order placed was 2 entree size chicken parmigiana with mozza sticks and desert I might as well of made my own! You get a couple penne noodles.....like I am serious...we counted 19 penne for the full size entree! To add 3 times in a row it has been a disaster! No bacon for the Cesar salads, no croutons just a tub of lettuce The mozza sticks have been burned and broken open every single time! But seriously 10 noodles with the chicken Parmesan I just can't get over that It is about the size of a kids meal to be honest when it is take out In restaurant I hear it's better but that shouldn't be if I am paying the same price $90.00 you would think it would be the same quality?.... To add to this regarding the lack care during this pandemic has been disgusting to say the least! 3 times over the past six months my order has been delivered to a different address and I have also had others food delivered to me! I call and tell the restaurant that they messed up yet again and gave me someone else's food, so they 100% seriously make me give the food that I opened to check if it's ours so they can deliver to the correct customer! So that means they are taking food from restaurant, to driver, to my home, and back out of my home and re delivered to someone else Safe to say that is pretty gross! I asked if I seriously have to give it back and they said on the phone yes the first time I expressed my opinion and disgust and they said just give back to driver and they will give me mine Also the driver never leaves it on the step always knocks and hands my hubby the food and runs fast won't even acknowledge the mistaken order Lastly they will not stand by making your meal if you order a hour before close and they refused to deliver a order I place and I had to fight them until my bank insisted they refund me for a order I never received because they didn't want to make it a few months ago! Where to start on this one. We ordered the soup bread and pasta combo it came with all ya can eat soup and bread. We both ordered soup they brought one out right away and then the other person had to wait ten minutes kinda rude to eat in front of others if you ask me. They waitress was not the most pleasant it may have been an off night who knows not my issue. The pasta came out and they was the smallest amount of sauce I've ever seen. I showed her and she was actually quite embarrassed not sure why they didn't look before they served it. She then brought me out a little mason jar with sauce in it to add. It made a difference but has to wait five minutes for it and my pasta was getting cold. I don't think I'll be hearing back anytime soon read more

There aren't many good places to eat in Owen Sound. And, even though East Side Mario's in a chain, this location is far better than many others I've been to. And, while the Italian is average, it's stands out in this area. It's one of the better chain establishments you'll find in the area and whether you're from out of town or a local you'll find a place here. East Side Mario's is one of two places in town (Boston's Pizza, the other) where there's a comfortable bar area, with good service and plenty of TVs to watch sporting events nightly. Both these places are packed with locals, many of whom are here to socialize and drink and don't even come for food. As for the food, it's average, chain, Italian. The pasta dishes are ok. The bottomless salads and bread are fine and the pizzas are ok, too. None of the food isn't anything to rush here for. Meanwhile, nothing is bad, either. It's chain food and rivals that of what you'd expect at a chain. It doesn't tastes like mama's cooking, but you won't be complaining either. This is more of a place to come and enjoy lunch or dinner with friends, family or both and be in the presence of laughs, good service and not care too much about how good the food is. read more

This is a nice looking spot with some problems. I'm going to chalk some of it up to them maybe just having a really bad day, and none of the problems were *terrible*, but when you add them all together it was a pretty substandard experience. We came for lunch. When we got seated, we were given menus that only had 9 items on them. All of the items came with all-you-can-eat soup or salad. When our server came to take our order, I asked if this was all that was available, and that's when she realized that we had only been given the promo menus and not the full lunch menus. So far, no big deal, except that we had to start from scratch figuring out what we wanted. I ended up getting a shrimp pasta that came with the all-you-can-eat salad, and Sedara got a big Ceasar salad off of the regular menu. It took at least 45 minutes for our food to arrive. The pasta was $17 and *TINY*. Yes, it came with all you can eat salad, but seriously, $17 for about 4 mouthfuls of spaghetti and 5 tiny shrimp? Not worth it. Our server asked us if we needed anything, and I asked for some more water and about half as much salad as she had given me for the appetizer. I ended up getting a full sized salad and no water. While we were eating, one of the other servers walked past us towards the kitchen in tears, and it looked like some of the other wait staff was having a really bad day as well. This might just have not been the best day for them. Since options in Owen Sound are so limited, we might give this place a second chance, but we were both pretty disappointed overall. read more

This was our first time at this East Side Mario's and were we surprised! Our server (Spencer) was attentive and accurate. Our drinks were filled frequently and he was very attentive to our needs. The "Hell's Kitchen Chicken" was spicy and hot. The all you can eat salad was fresh and refilled by our server. The Four Meat Pizza was perfectly cooked with a crispy thin crust. Our server was knowledgeable and commented on our selections. All in all an awesome location and we will be back! read more

We were in Owen Sound for a hockey tournament. About 5 families went for lunch. Old guy at the front desk was a total jerk and entirely unaccommodating. It's like he didn't want to make money. I'm honestly surprised this place is only two stars?!?!? It's so hard to find a casual and laid back Italian place, so this place is an awesome find. The ambiance is really cute and makes you feel like you're in little Italy. We started with the bread, mozzarella sticks and the budda boomers. Let me tell you...freshest mozzarella sticks and bread! BUT THE BOOMERS?!?!? Wow, why didn't anyone think to fry pizza dough before?!?!? Seriously life changing. For my entree, I got the spinach pesto ravioli. Again, sooooooo good. Seriously can't stress enough! So rich and creamy. To top it all off, our server was great. She was quick, friendly and spot on with her recommendations. Half of the stuff was missing kept asking them again and again. Staff has no energy. With over 15 years experience in management could turn this place into goldmine. Awesome location. this is a great restaurant. You get great value for your money and the service was great. This is the most wheelchair friendly restaurant in Owen Sound. It is very easy for me to move around the building. They have a separate wheelchair bathroom that is easy for me to get in and out of. They have live entertainment on Friday nights. Thank you. I had the chance to dine here for lunch. Arrived around 11:30 and was greeted instantly by a server. Sat at the bar and reviewed their new lunch menu. Waitress was quick to come over and offer me a drink and go over the menu selections. Ordered the "Veal Sammy" and a drink. Within 13 minutes I had my meal, it was hot, it was fresh and it was tasty. I know that East Side Mario's are chains and service and food quality is to be the same over the whole network but I like to point out that its the people that work there that make the difference in these types of places and this one had a stellar staff. read more

East side Mario has it days. It depends who's in the kitchen. I've been there quite a few times since I live around the block. I would definitely say.. Prices for the entrees are definitely not worth it. Although they have half off appetizers after 9pm that caught my eye, their appetizers are no way near as good as their entrees. I would highly recommend "The Hell's Kitchen" dish. It is absolutely delicious and healthy! We usually get the same waiter, he's fast and very sweet. Unfortunately I forgot his name... Staff was mediocre at best. Took forever to get refills for drinks, no one came to check table for refills of drinks or bread.

Went to dinner with family to East Side Mario's and had quite a poor experience. As there was a bit of a wait to get our table we sat at the bar and ordered drinks. Bar tender didn't know how to make a Long Island ice tea and so our drinks didn't come out. We sat for about 10 minutes without drinks until our table was ready. The hostess seated us and a waitress came buy and asked if we wanted drinks. We indicated that our drinks were already ordered at the bar but didn't come and so she went to inquire. The waitress returned and asked if we were ready to order. We ordered our food and the waitress came back with a bowl of Caesar salad and some bread, however we had no cutlery or side plates on the table, had to wave down a server for this. Saw a guy at another table eating out of the salad bowl as he didn't have a side plate either LOL. My gusts food the penne bolognese came very dry with no sauce and so they asked for additional sauce. The waitress brought back some cold sauce which they left along with their main. I felt so bad for my guests and we left the restaraunt. Won't be returning to East Side Mario's in the future and wouldn't recommend this location to others. read more

I am hoping this is an anomaly as generally this ESM has been great in the past. However we recently made reservations for a large group (approx 17) over a week in advance. We specifically requested and confirmed that the large private dining room would be available for us. Upon arrival we found the large dining room empty and our group was set up in the main area of the restaurant (no explanation provided). This wasn't the end of the world but was an indicator on how the rest of the night would go. Upon getting seated we requested waters to start which were brought out with the bread as usual. We wanted to order a bottle of wine for our meal and after about 10 minutes were informed that in the whole restaurant only a half bottle of red wine was available. We then asked about their selection of white, which we learned was also limited and were forced to settle for the "house white" which was served chilled. For some of our group salads were not brought out until much after their entree's. The chicken parm I had was great, a steak ordered well done showed up medium. I have eaten here before and was satisfied however, this visit was not memorable in a positive way. read more
