All of the guys are really knowledgeable and helpful without being snobby or judgmental. Their advice is sound and their parts/labor are absolutely reasonable. I've never had anyone there rush me or brush my questions off; rather they are more likely to find things that can be fixed/altered that you didn't even realize were wrong! I can't imagine taking my bikes or my business anywhere else. read more

Great service, nice guys. I recently had my bike stolen, so I had to resort to my secondary bike, which East Side gave a tune-up and honestly recommended i didn't put too much $$ in it. I took their advice, and she rides great for now! I brought my bike in for a tune up to this dude named Dustin, whose bedside manor left plenty to be desired. The day after getting it back, my chain fell into my spokes and I wrecked super hard, putting me in the hospital with a fractured collar bone. So far, I've missed two weeks of work and not sure when I'll be able to go back. I've decided against suing because that's just not the kind of person I am and I actually like this shop. I cannot, in good conscious though, let anyone take their bikes there without knowing this happened to me. In the years going there, I've never had a bad experience. Ever. But as long as he is there, I will never go back and will tell everyone to avoid ESPP until he is gone. read more

Great Bike Shop located adjacent to the new transit center. As a regular commuter in and out of Downtown, it's nice to find a shop in case I need anything on the fly. Today when I dropped in to check it out for the first time, was greeted promptly and enthusiastically and asked if I need help with anything. Initially I didn't, and enjoyed checking out their selection of esoteric and common bikes/bike accessories. When perusing their selection of tires, I noticed some whitewalls that would go nicely on a Vintage bike I am restoring. They didn't have the specific size I needed (it's an uncommon width), but Ben was more than helpful by looking up what they could order and also dug a couple of tires out of the back that might be possible candidates. Always nice to have options! Before departing, Ben offered to research the specific tires I am looking for, so he took my contact information and let me know he would contact me if he finds anything. This was really appreciated because typically bike shops don't like dealing with the hassle of special ordering inexpensive tires. Of course this is an entirely different experience from custom ordering something expensive. Really appreciate their attentive manner and their effort to resolve my quest. Here's the funny thing.... I liked this place so much that I wrote a good yelp. I always stopped by for quick service on my way to a large bike ride and they helped me out. I thought that I should bring in my bike for a full tune up to "give back" to the bike shop. aka, give them $100. The first time I brought it in they didn't have me on the books. They had written it down for the next week. I had it in my iPhone and I'm guessing they didn't know what date it was when they wrote down my appointment on paper. I got back my bike and the little piece of metal that holds the brakes on the fork I guess broke off when they were messing with it, so I had to buy a whole new fork. Everything was completely janky and the gears didn't shift well, the brake levers were in the wrong position, the seat was in the wrong position. But instead of giving me back the bike and saying, "hey we might need to adjust something" they just returned it to me janky and then I had to wait in back of three other people trying to get service. In the end they sold me a chain ring that didn't fit my bike because they have a minimal selection. The owner, Lee is really nice and if you just need to fix a flat then go here. If you want expert maintenance and need parts then... I don't know, this place is just too hit or miss. Plus they talk down to women, they attribute everything to "user error". Go to Windmill on Manor road if you don't want to be condescended to. read more

Hands down the best bike shop in Austin -- they're kind, patient, honest and fair. I first bought a bike from them in May of 2011 and though I've gone to other bike shops due to the convenience of their locations in relation to where I live, I've always ended up coming back to East Side Pedal Pushers. Other bike shops can be a 'scene' but these guys keep it real, they're not they're to impress you about how much they ride, they just do their best to charge you (more than fair) prices and get their work done in a reasonable time. You seriously can't get better than this when it comes to local business practices/pricing - this isn't just another business trying to capitalize on Austin's rapid growth and the trend of cycling with over-inflated prices, they've been around for a while (14 years!!) and have always been this good. These guys rule and I'll always support their shop. read more

These guys are great. One of the best austin bike repair shops in town. Just stopped by out of the blue because my tire was always deflating and it was time for replacement. Walked right in and they replaced it in seconds. The best part is that it cost $18 bucks. Highly recommend their bicycle repair services. read more

New to Austin-toodling around Downtown and hit a pothole for an instant flat. These guys were only had a mile away. Totally sweet guys, Chalo fixed me up right away. Couldn't have has a better experience. Bonus: had to walk through a cool, funky neighborhood I didn't know about to get to them. These guys were so incredibly nice and skilled! They were teaching me while fixing my bike in order for me to become more self-sufficient. I really appreciated their patience in showing me how to manage the cable tension on my own (and show/explain the issues I was having with my derailleur). Very reasonably priced also! Who has two thumbs and strips out the pedal threads on their crank arm? Yeah, me. No matter, this little gem of a bike shop got me back in the game, all on my lunch break nonetheless. They offered a wide array of options for the fix, and the final choice turned out extremely affordable. Since it cost way less than I expected, I used the surplus fundage for some new pedals. I can't say enough good things about this place and these guys. I was visiting Austin and staying in an airbnb place with a bike with some issues. These guys were super nice and friendly and fixed the brakes, adjusted the seat, and got me out there enjoying biking around and exploring Austin. No attitude, no feeling talked down to, no feeling like they wanted to sell me extra stuff and charge me extra. I felt they were knowledgeable and reasonable and it was a great experience. i went to these guys looking for a seat post for my mountain bike. they didnt have it in stock but then the guy called every possible bike shop that he knew of to find one that had it in stock. i really appreciated him going out of his way to help me. he could have just said try somewhere else. they seemed like very chillin dudes and had a good selection of products, my roommate bought a new seat. i would definitely recommend this shop to anyone its just a little to far away from where i live to make it my place to go. and they had a kick ass little black dog running around that was really cool. nice atmosphere. read more

I have had my bike worked on a couple of times here and stopped in multiple times for little things like lights and lube. Each and every time I have gotten terrible customer service and majority of the guys that work here are simply pretentious and rude. I'm sick of the attitude and won't go back. read more

Every time I got there something about the service really impresses me. I once took a well loved mountain bike to a bigger store for repairs and they basically told me to buy a new bike. I took it to ESPP and they fixed it with care and I kept it for much less the price of a new bike. The last time I went in there, it was an hour after they closed and I just happened to be going by, needed new pads, and the guy was still there with the door open. I asked if I could buy the pads and he ended up doing the labor as well despite it being late. read more

This is great little shop that in Austin is probably taken for granted, but as a native Angeleno, reminds me of an era where small, independently-owned shops repaired and sold every product: That was where you started and the trips to Sears, Penney's and other places were chores. I didn't buy anything here, but this shop came highly suggested and Lee's counsel was a blessing. He took time out of his repair day to talk to me and didn't make me feel like a douche for any reason. I hate fucking Austin most times because I'm not a big fan of forced smiles from cognoscenti. Sorry, but I'm not of the generation where narcissistic self-esteem is indicative of any sort of health. Lee is great. Long live this shop. Get a badass tattoo over at Skingraver's across the street when you're done visiting him. Maybe a bottle of Jagermeister on your forearm.
