Came here to purchase a new bike after mine got stolen. Ellis hooked me up! Told him exactly what I wanted and he showed me several options which I road around and got a feel for until I found the one that was perfect for me. Told me to order a brand new one online and it could get shipped straight to the store and be ready and it was literally ready the next day after ordering. My bike has been sitting in my garage for awhile, and I needed to get it fixed to lend to a friend without a car. The tires were flat, and I didn't know if it needed any extra work done. My bike was in good condition, barely used. I went to a different bike shop in Hyde Park, but they were booked out for a week. Miranda helped me on the spot and got my bike up and running in half an hour! :) She was honest and didn't even charge me saying all it needed was air. She didn't try to upsell me a tune up $65, or standard tune up $120. Their prices are better than other bike shops around charging upwards from $90-$200. They're super nice folks and get me riding again quickly, plus they share route tips and make sure my seat is at the right height before I go. Received excellent service from Joe and Paul when I came here to get a tube replaced. Joe replaced the tube and noticed that the canvas was showing on the right rear. However, both he and Paul were against replacing the full set of tires, which I appreciated. Good communication, and both convinced me that I should run 28mm instead of 25mm on a future set. I can't speak too much to purchasaing a bike here, but happy to come by for service in the future! read more

That said, the staff was exceptionally friendly and honestly they were even willing to give me advice on other places that could have a good fit for me, even if it wasn't one of the brands they carried. First time here and I am so impressed by the speedy time and service provided to replace 2 bike tire tubes. The gentleman helped me was super friendly, honest, and kind. I had brought two bikes to get the tires replaced due to flat tires. The employee gave me his honest opinion to not repair one of the bikes because it was not worth the cost versus the value of the bike. He advise it was better to use that money to get a new bike. I would have never known and appreciate him looking out for me. I ended up donated the super old bike to goodwill and got the other bike repair with Peddler. Total cost for labor, repair, and tip was $48 and some change for two tire replacement. Fairly reasonable priced! I am definitely going to be using them as my go-to for bike repairs! Be open or don't. Wtf. If you're geeked out by COVID just say you're curbside only and get on with it. Waste of time to drive here. The bike industry is so full of pretentious and rude people and this place is doing their part to keep it going. I'll just shop online. Better stock. Discounts. No lame customer service. Man, when the pandemic lightens up and behavior shifts back towards normal these dumpy stores that were rude to people because they thought they were hot, because people simply wanted to get into bicycling because everything is locked down or because they didn't understand all of the logistics hangups in the industry... are going to be in for a rude awakening. My husband did some research and then contacted the shop. Peddler confirmed that we had chosen good bikes for our type of use. Peddler did the ordering and put the bikes together for us. We were able to pick up our bikes and the transaction was done with social distancing protocols in place. I was very impressed with their attitude and professionalism. Brought a family member by the Cedar Park (TX) shop earlier today (Saturday, before noon) with the intent to purchase a road bike saddle and other gear. On entering this store, just inside the door, a hand-made sign requested clients wait in front of the sign, until a store attendant was available. Two store people were working in the shop area attending to other clients. We waited over 10 minutes without being acknowledged. We eventually decided to try another bike store. I understand that these store people were quite busy. However, a simple "hello, we'll be with you when able. . " would've been appreciated - we receive "nada". read more

I've never done this before but here goes: I dropped my bike off for a tune up. The employee checked my bike in and didn't ask me any questions about the condition. My mistake to let that go. My gears had been slipping. My bike was returned to me after the $99 charge plus tax also without any comment by the staff. My gears immediately began slipping again and now my brakes have seized up. The bike is in worse condition than before I brought it in. Adding insult to injury, nobody wears a mask in the shop. It's like Omicron doesn't exist. I've decided not to go back there and complain. I took my Merax mountain bike to The Peddler Bike Shop in Cedar Park in May with a special request. I wanted to try an oval crank set because there was a lot of slop in 21st gear on flat roads. So I was pumping faster than the chain could move the back wheel. Paul suggested they replace the 42-teeth front crank set with a 48 teeth set instead of the oval crank. It works great! Even on flat straightaways I can pump at full strength and not encounter slop. My top average mph had jumped from around 13.8 to 14.6 mph too! My husband and I have been wanting to bike around town. We went looking for bikes, but I wasn't really happy with any of them. I had an old bike that I loved, but I was worried how much maintenance was needed. After a friend's recommendation (yes, I don't use Yelp. I feel shame), I came here to see if they could give me an estimate and tell me what was wrong. I walked into the store, a bit scared that I would be judged for how old, ugly, and mismanaged my bike was. Plus, I know nothing about bikes so I was worried. I worried for nothing! The guy that helped me was awesome and friendly and told me that my bike evaluation would only take a few minutes so I brought the bike in. After the evaluation, they told me I just needed a new chain (a couple of other things) and some air in my tires! $25 and 30 minutes later I was on my way to cruising on my bike except I was missing a helmet. I asked for their advice on the helmet and they gave me some recommendations. I bought a sweet bike helmet that will keep my safe. While I was awaiting for my bike evaluation, I heard the other store folks talk to other people about bikes and giving them advice. They were super friendly and seemed to be really knowledgeable about the bikes they had. read more

Never left a yelp review before but was pretty bummed with the service here. Simple MTB service was 4 days late, so I missed my Spider Mountain reservation. When I called to get an update on the day it was supposed to be released they told me my bike was "in the que" and that I would get a call back in the hour with next steps. I never received a call and when I tried to call back they had closed... when I got the call my bike was ready I tried to explain to the tech my situation and his response was they were "busy because it's summer." Great bike shop! I went in today to discuss upgrading my front brake to disc brakes and came away with a much smarter and cheaper plan to go to mini-v brakes to begin with ($40 vs $400). The guy I worked with (Drew?) was great, very cost conscious and not trying to upsell me on anything I didn't need. Great local bike shop. I would highly recommend. I stopped in looking for a bike with a specific set up in mind. They showed me what they had and I mentioned a bike they carried, but did not have in stock. Drew sent me to a shop down the street which had one in stock. I checked it out, but they did not have it in the size I needed. I did a bit more research and decided on an All-City steel bike and found Peddler was a dealer. I stopped in on Thursday, discussed the bike with Finley and made the purchase. They ordered and delivered on Tuesday. They set it up perfectly and answered all my questions. I returned the next day for some add-on stuff and Nick set me up. A very helpful crew. There are some good bike shops in Austin. This is definitely one of them. read more

This is a wonderful place to buy a bike, fix a bike or just get accessories for a bike. A few years ago my Wife and I decided it was time to get bikes that were comfortable and fit us. We stopped at a few places and test drove a couple. We decided that Raleigh Hybrids were most comfortable and affordable. We bought two at The Peddler and got 10% off for buying them. They measured us and I got a 17" frame. After taking them home and riding them I felt as if the frame was just a tad too small for me. After raising the seat to as high as it would go, I still couldn't quite extend my legs completely. I took the bike back and they gave me a 21" frame bike. Unfortunately, after riding it a little, I found that it was just a little too big. I took it back too. They had to order a 19" frame for me and I had to wait a week, but they called me and I picked it up. It fit perfectly and we started riding quite a bit. When we got the bikes we also bought some comfortable riding gloves as well as two little baskets for the front of the bikes that the store put on for free. They also offer a year of free tune-ups and we took both bikes in a month or two after we got them and then when the year was just about up. Every dealing with this store was very pleasant. From returning 2 bikes until I got the perfect fit for me, to getting the baskets and tune-ups, all the people we dealt with were just a pleasure. I'd recommend this store in a heartbeat! read more

Being a DIY type (do it yourself) and YouTube videos for everything I tackled brake bleeding for my Specialized Sirrus X bike. I had initial success with the front brake (likely due to the relatively short brake line). However, after 4 attempts on the rear brake , with only marginal improvement, I deferred to the Peddler. Two days later, they told me they had tried to bleed the line twice and, admittedly, there was incremental improvement. However, the brake pads they put back on the bike were not the same pads that had been on there originally; they were in fact, 60% more worn and caused an ear-splitting screech when engaged. [ the bike is relatively new- purchased, brand new, 7 months ago....less than 300 miles]. These unevenly worn pads subsequently caused damage to the brake disc itself ($52). I paid $30 for the incompetent service....with replacement brake pads ($10), this experience will have cost me $100. When I returned to complain about the "service" and theft of property, the 'manager' was rude, condescending and antagonistic. Drew was so incredibly helpful and kind! I haven't ridden a bike since I was a teenager so I had no clue how the gears worked. Drew spent almost 10 minutes explaining and showing it to me so that I felt comfortable using the gears. He also spent the time to help me find a water bottle holder to attach to my new bike and he even installed it for me. I bought a bike online and assembled it myself, but I ran into a bolt that I just couldn't get off. I took my bike to another bike shop and was sorta chased out and chastised for riding the bike over (I live nearby and my car couldn't fit a bike in it!).
