Out antiquing HWY 80 and found this gem. The food was delicious, my husband had the "original" with all the fixins including grilled onions and fries. He says "It was delicious, moist, very flavorful and cooked well done!". I had the Philly Cheese Steak Sandwich with Sweet Potato fries. Everything is big in Texas, big highways, big bass and big burgers. Bring your appetite because their burgers are lunkers - with a 1/2 pound of beef patty, you'll be "culling" those nibble size burgers at the other places for these fresh, hearty Pattys with the full flavor. They even have a 1 pound burger, that's a real lunker. We didn't order that one but I'm sure. it is huge because they call it the big bass burger. They have "reel" fixin's for your burger. We ordered a bacon cheeseburger, "basket "and a grilled chicken salad. Initially they forgot the bacon, but when they added the bacon, it was more of a bacon sandwich with a burger. No complaints, it was delicious. The grilled chicken salad was fresh and the chicken was also warm. I like that! A little bit of cheese was also melted up on top, adding to the salad. I do wish there was mustard on the table instead of having to ask for it, but no problem, service is spot on and they bring you a little side of mustard in a tiny cup. If you check out the "wall art" previous restaurant guests have left "napkin art" saying they drove 1500 miles just to eat there or "all the way from....just to eat there" kinda neat. We stopped in for lunch on our way back from Broken Bow after reading such great yelp reviews. The previous customers were not wrong; this little place did not disappoint!! It's got a cool vibe, the napkins pinned all over the walls with messages from other customers was super unique. But let's talk about the burgers shall we?? My 19 year old said the mushroom swiss burger was the best he's ever had (and he's tried a lot!). My husband and I got the Hickory Burger and it was cooked to perfection! My daughter got the grilled chicken sandwich and she said it was fantastic too. We all agreed the BUNS were AWESOME!! Get the waffle fries!!!! I ordered the curly fries and they were good but they are just unseasoned fries that are curly. Everyone else got the waffle fries and I had to steal some!! The waitresses were very friendly, with a good sense of humor, fast and efficient too! We didn't get any pie because we were too full from stuffing our faces with burgers and fries. Next time! Seriously folks, this joint is located in downtown MINEOLA. Grab a bite and walk the streets. We have antique shops, gift shops ( picked up a purse) fudge and malt shops. If I hadn't stuff my face with my lunch, look out! I digress.... We popped in, I had a classic burger basket with homemade potato chips. And I ate the whole darn thing. And that's saying a lot. This burger was the juiciest burger I've had in a very long time. I dipped my chips in my combo ketchup and hot sauce. Hot diggity-damn! Party in my mouth!! Nice little burger joint right on the Main Street through your typical Texas small town. This is the kind of place you should always stop at, in my opinion. I'm not going to review the service speed or ordering process. Thanks to COVID, that was not anywhere near what I imagine normal would be like. And even saying that, it wasn't terrible. The burgers were terrific. Well cooked, but not dry. Plenty of toppings and the buns were lightly toasted. As is true for every burger place, fries are somewhat unnecessary so I ignored them. A unique dining experience. Not only is the food delicious and the service great, our fellow customers were friendly and in a good mood. We had chicken fried steak this time. It is freshly prepared using a good tasting piece of meat, properly seasoned and fried. The potatoes tasted like freshly peeled ones, not out of a package. The green beans are fresh, not canned and cooked using a good, old-fashioned East Texas recipe. Considering the situation in today's world, the price is reasonable. We have eaten here before. We stopped here on an outing, not knowing anything g about the place. We both had burgers and they were excellent. I liked the fact that they offered a smaller sized burger patty. The fried dill pickles were perfect. Very comfortable setting - people write notes or draw pictures on the napkins and there are hung on the walls. We will definitely eat here again!
