Roast pork and Chinese vegetables lunch special
    Sam A.

Perfectly acceptable Chinese takeout place. I had the roast pork and chinese vegetables lunch special. It was a bargain at about $5. There was plenty of meat, the veggies were mostly cabbage, along with some snow peas and carrots. The overall flavor was a bit bland for me, but that may be my tastes more used to urban Chinese places. The VB courthouse area doesn't have a lot of strong lunch options, so this was a fine alternate to fast food. Two and a half stars, all things considered.

Sometimes you just need to satisfy your craving for really cheap Chinese food and today was that day. Chicken Lo Mein with Pork Fried Rice. $6.50 (including a dollar tip) for a big foil dish of it that I brought back to the office and chowed down. Oh, so good. Relatively good, that is. Napkins and a fork in the bag, I'm glad I grabbed a couple packets of hot mustard as it was much needed.

Okay, so not too shabby of a place when it comes to their food. It's your typical fast food Chinese take-out and I needed something quick. I mean, I always do want rice in my life. The chicken and mushrooms dish was pretty good. I had time to kill so I took my time eating and every bite was piping hot. I don't expect Chinese take-out spots to ever be decorated but they did had a starter trash can... the little one you'd have in your first apartment with trash overflowing. Plus the bathrooms were a little eh. I suppose these are the things a place like this needs to have good food.

Adding some photos for Yelp. This location is in on the 'East" (get it? 'East'? Bada-boom, Ching---) side of the Harris Teeter shopping center down Princess Anne by the Municipal / Courthouse area of Virginia Beach. It is a good thing they didn't put this on the west side of the complex, because then they'd have to call it "West Wok", and that just doesn't roll off the tongue as well. -- Okay, enough of the weak jokes, to the review. There isn't too much to write that you haven't heard before as just about all Chinese take out places are very similar in price, menu, and taste. Family owned store. Food was prepared quick and tasted great, no complaints at all. They do accept credit cards, but they do not deliver. I'm going to give them 3.5 stars, and round it on up to four stars solely because the fortune cookie I got was cool. Why not! And I especially like the "Lunch Specials" section of their menu. Less than 5 bucks folks!

The food was good and fast. They clearly want you to take out. The seating is quite limited. They have one child friendly toy though I must admit, I wouldn't let my kid touch it. The prices are a bit expensive in my opinion. I ordered a small chicken lo mein and a side of dumplings and it was $12!! Kind of ridiculous. I was also annoyed that the lady taking the orders was sitting and I couldn't see her behind the counter, she took my order, yelled it obnoxiously to the back, and then sat down again watching her foreign tv show on super loud! I'm kind of surprised they are still in business because unlike the heavy traffic in the other establishments, no one else left in front of me or came in behind me. It was good food but idk if I'd frequent again.

No need to call a head this place is pretty fast and the food is good. We like the chicken chow mein and sesame chicken. The egg rolls are okay too.

Pick-up or Dine-In only. Wished they offered delivery. Overall, the quality is decent, the service is fast and price is average.

I called earlier in the day to see if we should make reservations, but was told they wouldn't be busy. Well, we got there and while they had plenty of tables at 6:30PM, but 7PM that place was completely packed! They had lots of carry-out orders happening too, which all made the kitchen a little slow. We ordered many dishes to share and all started coming out one after another over the next hour until the beef & broccoli was the last dish. Again, I attribute the slowness of the kitchen to their being so busy. At least all the food that came out was very fresh, tasty, and piping hot. Some interesting items that were quite good were their potatoes and green peppers. This dish is something I've never seen before but was pretty good! It features long julienned potatoes that they clearly soak in water before wok'ing with the peppers - that was all that was in the dish, but it was still tasty. Their Fish in Chili Oil & Bean Sprouts was really tasty and fresh! The fish is flounder. Their spicy wontons in chili oil were very popular with our group too. Service here was friendly too and helpful. Like I said, we tried many items, so many more than I just outlined and all were nice. I'd definitely return for a slightly more elevated Chinese menu from what you get at the typical Chinese-American joints.

I like that it's spaced out and you're not over crowded. Our waitress Catherine was awesome. She's always nice, friendly, and patient. She gave us the menu specials and allowed us to chat a bit before ordering. My friend ordered the cheese wontons, general tso chicken and dan dan noodles. The wontons were really good. I like that they were sweet and crispy. I'd get them again for sure. The dan dan noodles were spicy and flavorful. My sister and I got the Mongolian chicken, storm fish, and eggplant. This is my go to meal that I normally get, it's always tasty. The storm fish normally comes with a spicy mayo sauce, but they didn't have it this time. The fish was still ok, but the sauce is what gives it flavor, so it was a little bland this time. The eggplant and Mongolian chicken were yum, hot, and fresh!! I definitely recommend this restaurant to alot of people. I just think it's more elevated compared to regular Chinese takeout food. They have many delicious options on the menu, and again the vibe is chill. If you're planning a group dinner this is definitely a great option. The rooms have a lazy Susan on the table to make sharing the family style meals easy. Check them out!!

I found maybe 4 at most. It was also disappointing most of the sauce was on the bottom. So it's imperative you stir everything from bottom up upon receiving the order. The top layer tasted like it had barely any seasonings because of it. I wish I had known the meal came with copious amounts of mushrooms. I otherwise would have specifically requested the order be made without the them. I am not a big fan of mushrooms and especially the fragrant kind like the shiitake variety. I feel like I had mouthfuls of mushrooms in each bite and that's all I tasted. Perhaps I will order something else they are more known for the next time I believe they specialize in Szechuan cuisine.

The last experience we had was absolutely amazing. From the service to the food. All around great…read moreexperience. This time, not so much. My family and I (5 people) came in to celebrate my girlfriend's birthday dinner and there was nobody but us in the restaurant. The first thing I noticed was the server. He was dressed in jeans, hooded sweatshirt, a beanie and had a toothpick in his mouth. A bit out of the ordinary but to each their own for proper attire in what I would deem a upscale-ish restaurant. The real issue was him taking our order, seemed rushed. As we were deliberating and figuring out what we wanted. My girlfriend was talking about the scallion bubble pancakes. He came over and said, "I overheard you said the scallion pancakes, did you want to put in that order?" My girlfriend said no, she wanted everything to come out all at once. He said ok and then we walked off. Next thing we know, the pancakes came out WAY ahead of everything else we ordered. By like 15 minutes at least. When my girlfriend said something about it, the waiter said, he said outright " I never heard her say not to order them, she never said anything, and they are out right now". No apology, no I'll go ahead and fix that...nothing. When we we on the way out, we talked to the owner about the experience and the only thing he mentioned was that, the server was new and it's hard to find good employees because they revolve so quickly. Which wasn't really an answer at all. It was definitely a 180 degree turn from the first experience we had here which was 5 stars all around. I think given the experience, we unfortunately won't be coming back

That style of Chinese food is one of my favs. So, when visiting the area I came in for lunch on a Monday. Getting there around 1PM they had several table sat, which I was surprised to see, yet very happy to see too! It meant that there are others who value really good, Authentic Chinese food and flavors. I started with their cucumbers and asked for them to be spicy. Once they arrived, I have to say I was disappointed as they were fresh, but there was hardly any flavor to them at all and the "sauce" in the bottom of the dish wasn't actually tossed in with the cucumbers, rather they were just sat on top and the flavors were on the bland side. They also just tossed a bunch of whole cilantro on top, rather than pulling the leaves and chopping those and mixing them in, which is how the dish should have been served. Next up was their egg drop soup... yeah, it's an American-Chinese item, but it's a fav of mine and it came with the lunch item I ordered, which is the only reason I got it. It tasted great! I could tasted the freshness of all ingredients in it, but the fried wonton pieces that came with it were beyond horribly stale - NASTY! Those should never be served! My local, Fredericksburg Peter Changs (before they recently closed down) served amazing, fresh fried noodles to accompany soup. This is a management/chef issue that needs to be corrected with this location!! Next was the spicy chicken with peppers and onions... They were good, but far from spicy and definitely was missing some umami flavor I'm used to in this dish, from when I get it at other locations. I also tried their beef with three peppers... It came out looking not very authentic, rather quite "American" as it was saucy and resembling the beef from beef & broccoli. Flavor was ok, but far from what I've had with this particular dish in the past, which was very disappointing. Overall - service was nice. The food was too Americanized, which I suspect was why I saw so many people in there. Reviews for any authentic (Pakistani, Chinese, etc) place are typically mid-low level as most who use these review/social media sites are clueless as to what the food is actually supposed to taste like. I'll give this place a 3, but for authenticity it deserves a 2. Would I return, nope, there are too many places to try in the VA Beach area.
