I was very prepared to leave a glowing review due to the fast delivery and how hot the food was. Then we sat down to eat it...it was terrible. NONE of the dishes (wonton soup, wings w/fried rice, pork egg rolls, beef lumpia, chicken lo mein, and fried dumplings, white rice) had any flavor. None of it did. I actually had to spit out the dumplings and lo mein, while my husband was unable to eat the fried rice. I tried it and it was hard, almost crunchy, with nothing in it. Even plain fried rice at every other restaurant has onions, corn, carrots, etc in it. The egg rolls and lumpia were soggy and bland. I usually love eating leftover Chinese food but there was no saving any of it. I usually order from China Sun on Seaboard but I always thought they did just pickup. I will say they messed up the beef sticks and accidentally gave us chicken but it was still delicious. The fried rice was literally plain with nothing in it... I thought it was supposed to be pork fried rice we paid extra for it with the chicken and broccoli. The kids liked it but it was not what I expected. Don't go here! Recently, I ordered food from East Wok and it was terrible. Something in the food made me really sick. The spare ribs had this gooey, candy-like sauce that is nothing like bbq. The pork egg roll tasted old and the sesame chicken was rather bland. read more

I called to place an order for a family of 5. They said it would be ready in 10 mins. I drive up there to pick it up (about a 10min drive) and my order was already waiting for me. Service is fast! Everyone liked the chicken with garlic sauce. My husband liked the chop suey. The chicken fried rice was somewhat dry. The beef with broccoli was the least favorite. Typical take out ambiance with some tables/chair. Nothing special. I do think the clear plexiglass divider at the counter is a good idea to help prevent spreading germs. read more

There was plenty of meat, the veggies were mostly cabbage, along with some snow peas and carrots. The overall flavor was a bit bland for me, but that may be my tastes more used to urban Chinese places. The chicken and mushrooms dish was pretty good. I had time to kill so I took my time eating and every bite was piping hot. Bada-boom, Ching---) side of the Harris Teeter shopping center down Princess Anne by the Municipal / Courthouse area of Virginia Beach. It is a good thing they didn't put this on the west side of the complex, because then they'd have to call it "West Wok", and that just doesn't roll off the tongue as well. -- Okay, enough of the weak jokes, to the review. There isn't too much to write that you haven't heard before as just about all Chinese take out places are very similar in price, menu, and taste. Family owned store. Food was prepared quick and tasted great, no complaints at all. They do accept credit cards, but they do not deliver. I'm going to give them 3.5 stars, and round it on up to four stars solely because the fortune cookie I got was cool. Why not! And I especially like the "Lunch Specials" section of their menu. The food was good and fast. They clearly want you to take out. The seating is quite limited. They have one child friendly toy though I must admit, I wouldn't let my kid touch it. The prices are a bit expensive in my opinion. I ordered a small chicken lo mein and a side of dumplings and it was $12!! Kind of ridiculous. I was also annoyed that the lady taking the orders was sitting and I couldn't see her behind the counter, she took my order, yelled it obnoxiously to the back, and then sat down again watching her foreign tv show on super loud! I'm kind of surprised they are still in business because unlike the heavy traffic in the other establishments, no one else left in front of me or came in behind me. This place has pretty decent food in a reasonable amount of time. If you like sweeter/smaller crab Rangoon than at most places, they've got the hookup here at east wok. The staff is friendly and the kitchen always seems clean every time I've visited here. It's right next to great clips and shares a parking lot with several other businesses. There are a few dishes they do really well, like their generals tso's chicken and their lo Mein, however, their Kung pao chicken could use some work. read more

While everyone else was eating donuts, here I order 2 lunch entrees for myslef...yes you read that right. Maybe because I felt on the brink of death or because this place genuinely cooks its food with care, it was hands down the best take out location I've been to in a VERY long time. We've lived in the courthouse area for years and have often ordered from here. I could not recommend it for a sit down dining experience but for take out Chinese food it's always been good. I'm from NY and I've been trying for over a year now to find a takeout place that makes my favorite dish, General Tso's, just as amazing as back home. Every other place I've tried had sticky clumpy sauce, overdone and dry chicken or crappy processed chicken that looked like joints and crushed bones were meshed in I was shocked cuz these places had dashing reviews on Yelp.... East Wok made my day, as I was feeling very homesick. Their chicken was great quality, moist, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. The sauce.....was so beautiful. It was love at first sight. My grandmother and I ordered some chicken wings , and Won Ton soup and chicken fried rice . Normally I would order teriyaki sticks chicken fried rice and general TSO chicken for me and my sister. This time I decided to try something different and get the chicken fried rice I began to eat it until I noticed the "Chicken", was very rubbery and cut into thin noodle like slices , it was yellow-ish white in color and had the texture of rice when you squish it . Aside from the fact that the delivery man always snatches the tip when he drops off the orders( which I would normally excuse due to culture differences ) this time since fake chicken was involved I was highly upset . I called back to let the establishment know and began to ask how they received or prep their "chicken " because this wasn't it ...I got no where but back and forth argument . The woman could car less and never gave a straight answer other than "its chicken "! so I asked can I be compensated she said I could come and replace it , so I did . After waiting at the counter for about a minute before anyone spoke to me , I told the gentleman (same one who snatches the tip) about the situation and that this chicken was not real , he scratched his ear and began to tell me the same as the lady on the phone . I didn't feel like arguing so I asked for plain rice . That wasn't all that great either , over cooked . Though I will say the man did apologize , fake chicken is unacceptable. If your going to sell fake chicken and charge for the real thing and then lie to my face about what it is then you don't need to have a restaurant .
