This isn't a poison pen review -- just the facts, but I have to tell you this was the worst experience I've ever had with a repair shop. I've owned 46 automobiles and I've seen the inside of a lot of garages, and I have never been treated worse or with a greater degree of incompetence. I read a review here on Yelp and decided to take my ailing 2002 Mercedes Benz CL500 coupe in for a sagging right rear suspension problem I did a lookup on the various Mercedes Boards and they all said that this could be a complex repair. I read that they were open between the holidays, so I made an appointment. First of all, it took forever to find the place. Not much signage, and the yard and parking is a mess. When I got there, they didn't have a record of my appointment, but said that they'd make room for me. I decided to camp out and do some work on my laptop. 5 hours later they finally got to my car and told me that I had two leaks on my front suspension hoses. They brought me in to show me where the hoses were wet, and said that they'd check to see how much it would cost to fix. Turns out that the hoses were a pretty rare part. One would have to be flown from Germany. They said that they'd try to locate some others, but were out of luck. I asked them if they could just repair them down the street at a hydraulic shop, and they agreed that it would be a satisfactory idea. They hooked me up with a local Enterprise Rent-a-car and said that they'd call me with an update. Two days went by, and I hadn't heard from them. I called and talked to Lars, the owner's son and shop operations guy. He said that they hadn't gotten to it because the mechanic had been off. he said that they'd get the hoses out that day and then to the shop tomorrow for the repair. This was now Wednesday. I called again the next Day and Lars said that it would be ready tomorrow. On Friday, called in the morning, and Lars said that they were "getting it done". I decided to jump in the car and roll over there at 4pm to see how things were going and hopefully pick up the car. When I got there, the place was a mad house with cars going out and everyone collecting their cars. Turns out that they had never gotten to my car all week, and for five days they were completely BSing me. I told them that I wanted my car and to top the fluids off and I'd pay for it. They had to re-install the valence panel under the front of the car. Lars apologized profusely, but the DUDE LIED TO ME. He gave me a couple liters of hydraulic fluid (abt $35 in value) and told me that the mechanic would "button up my car" and it would be out front in about 30 min. The car showed up out front. My wife got in the car, I took the rental back and paid the $280 bill for the week that I had it, and we went home. That Monday we took it to the local Mercedes Benz Dealer in Grosse Pointe off 9-mile road. They diagnosed the car in two hours. The hoses up front were fine -- they had fluid on them because they were just under the sump and hydraulic fluid had been spilled on them while it was being filled. Eastern's Diagnosis was wrong and would have cost me nearly TWO THOUSAND DOLLARS to discover, and then I would have had to fix what was ACTUALLY WRONG, which was another THREE THOUSAND DOLLARS. I paid the dealer happily. Got the car back in two days. It's run fine ever since for the last 4 weeks. As a final insult, my wife was travelling to Ohio and back when the font valence panel that Eastern's Mechanic had "Buttoned up" came loose and disintegrated under the car -- another $200 joke that was on me. I know that they have had a lot of good reviews; Me? Not a fan. read more

This is the kind of auto service center I am used to and I am glad I found them. Very old style service, but the place was clean and professional looking at the same time with lots of seating. I drive an older Jag (2003) and my local service center doesn't really deal with them. They recommended that I go to a dealership, but I had other ideas and decided to shop around a bit. I had been deferring maintenance on the car until I paid it off, and that happened in December so my car was in rough shape. It was so bad, I was actually renting cars when I had to go anywhere to be safe. So having said that, I knew this would be an extended visit and big money. Delaying as long as I could, I decided to take the girl in over the break between Christmas and New Years. SO much work needed. Rear brakes, all 4 shocks and struts, air coolant reservoir replacement, 2 leaky oil valves, and a partridge in a pear tree - and so on, and so on, and so on! The bill was much less than I expected, and they were very considerate through out. I need to take it back in to get 3 bushing replaced but other than that, the car is DONE and I have a good feeling about it again. When I drove it this morning, I actually felt as good as when I first bought the car. It drove great, and I had zero worries on the drive so I am just thrilled. Not only is my car payment gone now, but my car is in great shape to last me for years to come. Happy camper! read more

With the bad winters and icy roads in michigan, a moron just banged into my Audi Q5, ripping the right side out. Eastern auto guys did a great job on my Audi. They are experts with german cars and know what they are doing. They dealt smoothly with the insurance company and kept me posted throughout. Eastern Auto is the only place I will ever take my 2006 Land Rover LR3. The prices are unbeatable. My car was in pretty rough shape when I brought it into Eastern Auto. It needed body work, had a coolant leak, needed a new thermostat, and my tire was leaking air. and I had taken it to 2 repair shops that were closer to my house that gave me a quote of around $2000. I brought my car to Eastern Auto and they did not charge me anywhere near $2000. My bill was a lot less than I expected, fixed in about 4 days and on top of it my car was detailed and washed!! Although I live about 25 minutes away from Eastern Auto, I would not think twice about going anywhere else-even if it's just for an oil change. The guys at Eastern Auto are very friendly, honest, and customer service-oriented. They will go out of their way to make sure that you are happy with their service. The manager, Lars, is very honest and professional. Vinny, the shop manager was very organized and kept me updated on the process of fixing my car. He even went out of his way to deliver my car to me. I also want to mention that everyone at Eastern Auto makes you feel like family-not a "customer". It is a very comfortable environment, unlike most auto repair shops and dealerships. **I HIGHLY recommend taking your foreign car to Eastern Auto Company. Terrible. They are like the liquor stores. Disrespectful to the people in our community. Not to mention the damaged my vehicle on a previous trip and tried to cover it up with paint. The part under the hood they replaced didn't need to be replaced and I'm having the same issue. Owner gets mad because I ask him why are they charging to look at my vehicle and didn't tell me when they didn't charge last visit? They were trying to get money because we decided to go to the dealer. He says he won't work on the car now which is fine because they cost the same as the dealer. Check your dealer before taking your foreign car there. They don't respect customers. read more

I took my son's car to this repair shop after his vehicle started overheating and leaking radiator fluid. I had the radiator fluid and leak fixed at the dealership. A couple of days later my son said he didn't have heat. He's on his way to his next post being in the Navy and all. I told the guys that. I was reassured that they would take care of it and the whole spill of what they normally say at an auto repair shop. Time is of the essence but I didn't want to rush to work. When I call for update there was none for me. And that was the next day about 24 hours later. My son eventually called and was told that the thermostat was replaced but it's still blowing cold air. And that the thermostat replacement would be $290. My son told them that he to call back. And then told me what was going on. I called and asked is this considered a diagnosis stage or are you saying that I have to pay you $290 and you still don't know what's wrong with the car I just want to be clear. The guy commence to go completely off on me. He said something about me raising my child wrong. And that I'm trying to get out of something. And to watch my mouth, behave myself, keep my money and come get this car! I mean 0-100 in 2.2 flat. Of course I go back to the shop and when I get there the guy refuses to talk to me. Tells me that he's going to take the thermostat off and that it would be another hour. I just called the police. And then my husband. The two get there and ask the man, who i believe to be the owner the same questions I'm asking and he answers them politely with no problems. I gather he didn't like the fact that I was a woman asking hard questions. He told me I had an attitude and also brought up I said my husband would be angry. Which he would if I spend $300 with NOTHING to show. I have never been so humiliated and disrespected in the course of a 20 minute interaction. If it had not been for the fact my son has to report at 0600, we would've been at the dealership!!!!! And he refuses to apoligize. Gentleman please go with your wives because my experience WILL REPEAT itself! read more

My Son-in-law referred me to Eastern Auto. He shared with me information he received from others about the auto repair shop and tole me he was pleased with the service he received. I am a senior citizen, so I have a lot of experience with auto service and repair businesses. I also have standards of service and professionalism that I expect in my business dealings. I am very happy to say that Eastern Auto exceeded my expectations. In May they took care of my standard service requirements for my C300 Mercedes and identified additional maintenance areas that needed to be addressed. All items were addressed with my approval. However, another indicator light came on between when I dropped off my car and approved services that were completed. We discussed why it happened, how it could have happened. Bottomline, Eastern Auto took care of the new issues with no additional charges to me. I am highly recommending them to all my friends and family. read more

Awesome work. I have a BMW X5 and I go to these guys anytime I have an issue. I use to go to a different shop and they had me coming in and out with the same problem, not to mention, having to leave my car for days. This is by far the best european auto repair shop in the area. I live around 18 miles from here but I still make the drive anytime I have an issue. At eastern auto the turnover time is great because they get right on top of it. Also it's done right. They use quality parts and from personal experience, you won't come in for the same problem. Here is a copy of ONE of my emails to the owner(s) of Eastern Auto Co. "What was interesting is that Nabil spoke with both Jennie and myself at different times. What he didn't realize is that we were sitting across the table from each other and the phone "speaker" was on. Eventually, we discovered that Nabil was caught lying to Jennie twice. He even tried to stand up for Mark when I was speaking with Mark in your office, saying that all he heard was Mark saying he would "work with us." That was almost funny, Mark hung up on us! I am STILL discovering lies by Mark. One Example: When going over the paper work on the car, there have been 4 previous owners, not 3 as emailed and verbally stated by Mark. Therefore, the lies go on and on and on. IN THE VERY BEGINNING, the very first phone call, Nabil said he didn't want to get in the middle of this because "Mark was a friend and he didn't want to cost him a sale". Well, he didn't, but should have! Later when we were at your shop, he denied this, but I HEARD HIM SAY IT. The second one, was that Nabil told Jennie that the "carburetors were done and it sounded great." Jennie even had him repeat it, to make sure that I heard what he said, that was obviously a huge lie too!!! We based our decision to purchase the car on all the lies that Mark emailed us, the fraudulent picture and Nabil's statement that "it sounded great." I now wonder if Nabil and Mark may have been working together on this. They both lied to us and by doing so, they have both extracted funds from me. Concerning this deal, nothing would surprise me any longer, even the "Balance Due" bill. Jennie has been working in this business for 26 years and has never run across such fraud, lies and deceit. Now that is saying alot. I don't know if Mark and Nabil would be proud of this or not. THURSDAY; Nabil told us that the carbs were done and that it "sounded great!" Based on that statement, we bought the car! FRIDAY: Nabil called and said he "almost had the motor out". At that time he was told POINT BLANK, by me, NOT to finish taking the motor out AND to put it back! I was in shock! SATURDAY: Nabil calls talking about how much work the motor needs and that it was going to cost about $2,000 to fix it and I could NOT believe it! I asked him what happened? I had told him NOT to take the motor out. I completely lost it, again! Then he says that it was "so far out that he couldn't stop it." You and I both know that was a lie and made no sense whatsoever. Taking a motor out of a car isn't like having a baby! They bolt in and bolt out. Bolts can be unscrewed and they can screwed in. But I just got "screwed" big time! MONDAY: Nabil calls and says the "oil pump looks bad and needs to be replaced. I just went nuts this time! First, you can't tell by looking at an oil pump's exterior as to whether it's "bad", yet another lie. Second, he shouldn't have ever seen the oil pump! Obviously, we were being taken for a ride and being taken advantage of by Frank and his "friend" Nabil. Two hours later we were packed and headed to Detroit to put a stop to the lies, fraud, financial abuse and exposure. After paying, I even had to ask for a bill. Then, when I received the "bill" for the funds paid, it states at the bottom, "Balance Due". Then I was assuming that you are going to attempt to extort more funds from me and I'm still not sure that isn't the case. After all, in my 46 years of doing business I have never seen or heard of a bill that states "Balance Due", with a dollar amount showing, without there being a "Balance Due." If you were on the other side of this, what would you call all of this, if not "extortion"? Funds were extorted from me, on work that I continually declined, tried to verbally stop and should never have been done, period! Nabil made a threat to hold the Porsche if the bill wasn't paid, therefore, funds were "extorted" from me. If you have another term for this, please advise, I would be very interested as to what you would call it. I NEVER APPROVED ANY WORK on the car and as you and everyone else knows. Your estimate for an overhaul was done AFTER THE FACT, NOT BEFORE the work was done; work that was never requested or approved and had actually been denied multiple times by me. NOT BEFORE AS INDICATED IN THE BILL/RECEIPT YOU SENT ME. We both know that the motor was already partially, but mostly packed in boxes to be placed in the bed of the truck before you presented an estimate." --- I could not place all of the email here due to size restrictions.
