Do NOT do business here! I started my safe hunting adventure in the late fall of 2012 by visiting the Mendon, MA dealer, Eastern Security Safe. From visiting the store and talking to Roger, I left with a good feeling about doing business in the future with this company. I wasn't quite ready to drop several thousand dollars on a Ft Knox safe so I decided to wait a couple of months. I called and talked to Roger a couple of times from late fall to the time of purchase to run some numbers so that I felt comfortable with what I was paying and the process after payment.
Now fast forward to early January 2013. I received a new firearm as a Christmas gift, which encouraged me to make a move on purchasing a safe. After a couple of days trying to get through to speak to Roger (the only person I dealt with up to this point) I finally got through. Roger was very helpful and actually talked me into buying a larger safe than what I was originally thinking and gave me a discount because it was a floor model and had some upgrades. I paid $500 to hold the safe, which I was told would be pulled off the floor and marked as sold. After a couple of weeks, I called to place more money down on the safe, this time I spoke to Brian. The transaction felt smooth. Just before the end of January (on a Friday) I called again and completed payment on my safe, again speaking to Brian. I asked what to expect next and he said he would contact me first of the week to set up delivery and my safe would be prepped for delivery by placing it on a pallet and wrapping it up. By Thursday I hadn't heard from anyone, so I called and spoke to who else, but Brian. This time he said they were back logged with safe orders and I was looking at least 2 weeks before something would happen. I somewhat understood and went along with it. After 2 1/2 weeks, I called to check the status of my safe, Brian's response was "I can't find your safe". Unwilling to admit he scammed me by selling my safe, which I paid for (which is against the law), from underneath me, he stuck to his story that he couldn't find it. After 15 minutes of lashing out at Brian, he said that he found another safe exactly like mine in Utah. He said it would be on a truck at the end of the following week and would take approximately 5 days to get to their store. This was the last straw.
A week and a half went by and I had not heard from anyone from Eastern Security Safes. I decided I was going to make a special trip (45min) to their store and confront them face to face, either walking out with a safe or my money back! You can probably guess how this ends. I made the trip down to Mendon, MA early one morning and luckily no one was in the shop but Brian. He was on the phone when I walked in, so this gave me a few minutes to re-group. When he finished with his call he asked "can I help you"? I said I'm here to see my safe. He replied "oh yeah", what's your last name. After I gave him my name he froze and remembered me from our phone conversation. He said, "I don't have your safe, it still hasn't left Utah". Well, that was the wrong answer! I told Brian they had jerked me around long enough and demanded my money back. Without hesitation, Brian agreed and started the transaction. This time Brian admitted he sold the safe out from underneath me and said he was to blame. I made sure I got all of my credit card information from their file and left.
I took my business to Riley's Sport Shop in NH, where they treated me right and DIDN'T jerk me around. Their prices were slightly better than Eastern Security and they provided me with a detailed price list to show me what I was paying for. Bottom line; DON'T do business with Eastern Security! They will take advantage of their customers to financially benefit themselves! Clearly this place isn't managed properly and has bad business practices!! read more
