After walking past this place numerous times, I checked their website and liked that they only offer private and semi-private sessions. The space is small, but very well equipped and never crowded since they limit how many people are in the studio at a time. I've never seen more than 4 people working out at a time. I have been going twice a week for almost 6 months now and time has flown by! It's probably the first time in my life that I have been this consistent with going to the same gym for the same trainers. I never have trouble scheduling for the time slots I want and I can schedule a week at a time - they're pretty flexible about rescheduling as well when things come up. Even the semi-private (1-4:1 training) feel pretty private. You always get individualized attention and modifications to suit your fitness level; it's definitely not a group class. I also enjoy the camaraderie as you meet other clients who come in at the same time. As someone who gets bored easily and has the tendency to drop things after a few months, I really appreciate that the workouts are never the same and I've learned a lot of new exercises and movements here despite a lifetime of dabbling in fitness. Daprinte, James, Colton, and Paul are all excellent trainers and put a lot of thought into programming. And I have so much fun here! I only bake for people I really like and I am constantly dropping off treats. My 2x a week commitment isn't much, but it has been efficient - I'm noticeably leaner and stronger. I joined EP at the beginning of the pandemic hoping to find some way to stay fit in a safer environment than a typical gym. It has been a great experience! To this day, the workouts still feel fresh and challenging. The trainers here are good at meeting you where you are. I have really appreciated the opportunity to work out here for the accountability it creates and the incredibly diverse set of activities that we do. It has a made a huge difference in my overall fitness level (I crushed ski season this year, feeling very functionally fit with great stability, flexibility and strength throughout my entire body). I cannot say enough good things about Eastlake Performance - I love every trainer here and being part of the community they've built! I started training with EP 9 months ago after signing up for the canoe leg of the Ski to Sea relay race. I had no idea how to prepare for a 16-mile canoe race, so I turned to EP for help, coming in for 1:1 and Semi-Private sessions 2-3 times per week. I was more than a bit out of shape when I started with EP, but by race time a few months later, they had me ready! I had originally only planned to train with EP for Ski to Sea, but after training with them for a few months, I was hooked. Today, I am the strongest and happiest with my body that I have ever been. The trainers are all so warm, supportive, and fun. I primarily work with James and Da' Printe, but think that all the trainers are just wonderful. They listen well, can accommodate injuries, and care about what I want to achieve. Every session is different and owner Paul is always coming up with new, challenging exercises. There are usually only 1-2 other people in my Semi-Private sessions, so even in those, all the clients get a ton of individual attention. I am not someone who has ever particularly enjoyed working out, but I genuinely enjoy my time at EP, unless I'm doing Bulgarian split squats. read more

I started training at Eastlake Performance because I needed a kick in the butt to work off my winter hibernation gains. I have never been able to workout by myself in a gym because I get bored and lose motivation. Paul, Matt, and Becky exceeded my expectations. The workouts are always different, using equipment that I have never used before, and I definitely feel it (in a good way) afterward. There is a big focus on safety and they make sure that I am doing the exercises correctly so I do not get injured. In the 3 months that I have worked with them, I have gotten a lot stronger and have broken several of the PRs that took me a year to attain doing crossfit. The gym itself is very clean and there is ample street parking in the neighborhood. They are very flexible with scheduling and have always been able to work around my ever changing crazy work week. Ever since I moved up to Seattle, I had a difficult time finding the right gym that gave personal direction in a small group while pushing me outside of my comfort zone. My sister told me she went to a few small group trainings here before so I gave it a shot. Needless to say, THE BEST. The small group training was great! There were women of all ages in my group. Paul led our small group training and managed to push us outside of our comfort zones while keeping in mind the proper technique and optimizing strength. The best part of it all was the price of the class! They offered a few different options (1x a week for a month, 3x a week for a month, and so on.) At the end of the group session about an hour or less, my butt was kicked and I was sweating hard. However, I understand this can vary depending on how hard individuals will push themselves. The space is adequate in size, will a great amount of space but also a decent amount of equipment. Very up-to-date gym, and VERY clean. I will most securely be returning here soon and signing up for some yoga classes. Definitely recommend trying this spot out! read more

ELP has been a game changer for me. The workouts are tailored and every week is a new challenge that continues to get progressively harder. Every time I come in, seeing Paul and the rest of the crew puts a smile on my face. The witty banter and music is always on point and motivating. I was used to more traditional gym experiences. Typical 24hr type self workouts. ELP however has provided a much more guided and strategic effort towards my fitness goals. It's only been a few months and already I've seen a much greater improvement than I have in a long time doing anything else. I believe the kids these days call them "gains". Awesome gym with amazing trainers and coaches! I started training at Eastlake Performance about 6 months ago, after I had just moved to Eastlake. I was looking for a space that was small, personal, and would challenge me to push my fitness goals. I'm a former college athlete and I was looking for get back into shape and grow overall muscle. After a few months, I didn't just gain strength, I gained a new set of friends. The trainers are amazing and really put a lot of thought into your programs. I have an issue with my hip so sometimes squats or other exercises are challenging, the Coaches always make sure I'm well warmed up and will tailor a set if needed to make sure I stay safe. If you have a previous injury or recovering from an existing injury, these guys will make sure you can still get strong and stay safe. The gym offers 1-1 personal training or small group classes that are 1hr. The session begins with stretching, then warm up, next is a strength circuit, then finishes with conditioning. There are 5 trainers that share all clients. At first I wasn't so sure about having 5 different people train me, but I ended up loving it. Each trainer brings their own unique style which allows your muscles to never get used to a training session. I primarily train with DePrinte and James. These guys are AWESOME. Over a course of 5 months these guys were able to have me lifting way past what I thought I could. DePrinte loves high reps and combination exercises. You'll be sure to be sweating within the first 20 minutes of the session. He's always so positive and is super motivating during a session. I also love that he'll break down the scientific reasoning behind certain exercise circuits and why you're doing what you're doing. James is great too! He loves working heavy weights and tiered sets, so if you're dying to PR your deadlift and/or gain a booty, James is your guy. The gym is small and doesn't have many "typical" big box gym machines that you'll find at a Planet Fitness. Most exercises are done with bands, free weights, TRX bands, kettlebells, barbells, and dumbbells. They also have a bunch of weighted medicine balls, a sled, cones, and fun agility tools. One side of the gym is turf, which is great for stretching and sled pushes. For cardio/conditioning there is a Rowing Machine and ErgoSki. During really busy times there may be 3 - 5 people also in the gym but for most sessions it's like you have the gym to yourself. Parking is easy, there's lots of street parking and there are a few spots reserved under the building. Scheduling is also easy and flexible, you can text the guys at any time and they'll put you on the schedule as soon as that day or you can use the Mindbody App to schedule yourself. This gym feels like family and I know they've got my back. If you're looking to lose weight, tone up, get strong, or just have fun - the guys at Eastlake Performance is worth checking out. read more

Paul has brutalized me for almost a year now. I have to say that despite the pain and agony associated with many of our meetings, my resulting physical transformation feels nothing short of distilled awesomeness. I started out battling quite a bulge, having birthed the world's greatest twins in 2010 and throwing on a mere 70 POUNDS during the process. I worked out with a variety of other trainers and went to a lot of group workouts trying to drop off the last of my pregnancy weight, but my progress and weight loss had plateaued. It felt like every time some other new mom told me about how they lost all their pregnancy weight, I'd find my last 20 lbs just sitting on my...every thing...after a year of trying to do the same damn thing. Historically, I have been an athletic person. I have done yoga for almost ten years on and off because I get bored with it. I cycle, run, cardio box, do free weights, et cetera. I implemented all of these tools to no avail before deciding to let Paul torture me in 60-minute increments. And it's been the best money I have spent on my health and fitness, and it's also been very rewarding. I have since given the muffin top a heave-ho, lost ALLLLLLLLL of my pregnancy weight, built muscle, and am physically stronger and fitter than I've ever been. I can do amazing things now, or at least things that feel amazing to me to do, like pull-ups (I CAN DO PULL UPS, DAD!!!), box jumps, broad jumps, kettlebell workouts, and TRX workouts (which I think is actually a method of torture somewhere). Our work with plyometrics, which I had never previously done, is so ridiculously challenging but, for me, the most beneficial. I am more coordinated, but without a doubt quicker, more agile, and powerful. And, I hate to admit this, a lot of the things we do in our workouts are fun and things I've asked (in a round about way) to do. Paul is a great trainer and listener that way. I'd see someone else and say, "Damn, I want arms like that!" or, "Oh, I wish I had junk in the trunk!" or "I don't think you're ready for this jelly-belly; my body's too Buddhalicious for you." And wouldn't you know it, my workouts would change the very next session. And I am now the proud owner of nice, toned arms; a smaller belly (listen, I have this extra skin problem going on if you know anyone who's looking to score some); and, (FINALLY) a bit of a butt to put in my jeans. NOT because I was the winning bidder on Ebay for these highly sought out items, but because Paul has helped me achieve these things with blood, sweat, and tears (the blood thing was a total fluke; don't worry!). So, as I have told many friends that want to get into shape, I will tell you: You need a little less flab and a lot more fab. Call Paul. read more

I love Eastlake Performance! I had very specific fitness goals (I'm in good shape and have done some strength training in the past, but I wanted to learn proper form for heavier lifting and gain muscle mass . . . but without injuring myself since I'm nearing middle age). Matt has been tailoring my workout two days a week; varying the exercises so each session is new and challenging; and taking lots of time to patiently teach me. But he is still pushing me hard at each session--he seems extremely invested in my meeting my goals. I have been training with Paul for over 7 years at several of his prior gyms where he rented space. He recently opened his own gym - Eastlake Performance. The space is perfect for the one on one training that we do together. With me, the focus is on functional fitness so I can get more out of my active lifestyle (hiking, snowboarding, mountain biking). I used to just lift heavy weights all the time and while I felt strong, I was always injured (even with other trainers!). With Paul, it's just the opposite, he keeps me in my best shape so I can avoid injury. Speaking of which, Paul helped me lose 30 pounds and keep it off more than 5 years now. Paul has helped me reach nutritional goals, weight loss goals, and strength goals, all while being supportive and encouraging. The gym is in a great location with ample free parking, is clean, has plenty of equipment, and is never crowded. As for the workouts themselves, all I can say is that Ivy is just fantastic.
