Eastside Discount nursery, great variety and reasonable prices and staff very helpful thanks.

On May 4, 2026 took my elderly mother to buy and choose any plants, and flowers she wanted. She selected a couple of bougainvillea plants, among other plants. The bougainvillea plants were initially placed at the entrance right next to the opened window right where the cash register is located. We proceeded to gather other plants around the area, and left the plants in same spot, as where we found them. As we were coming back for them, , we saw a young man (which we later learned was apparently the owner) by the name of Robert Simmerly (unsure how to write his last name, a person gave us his name) moving the bougainvillea plants and placing them far away and placing them along the fence. My elderly father told him in Spanish that we were taking the plants. He saw him, looked away and ignored him and continued moving the plants. When I witnessed this, I became irate and told him we were taking the plants (in English) to please bring them back, as we were going to pay for them. He literally responded "no, you want them, come get them from here". I was baffled at his response. That young immature boy acted so arrogant and disrespectful towards my dad and my self. I was beyond myself, went up to him and literally told him how rude he was and that he hadn't been taught manners, especially how to deal with women and the elderly and that chivalry was definitely gone. I let him have it. He told my elderly mother I was crazy. He then turned around and told me I was sick in the head! The nerve! No business person, especially in El Paso has displayed this type of disrespectful behavior, lack of manners and lack of education that this boy from this immature and arrogant boy displayed. People, my best advice to you, if you are Hispanic, female, or elderly or simply want to shop here for someone, I would think twice. DO NOT waste your time. You would be supporting this type of horrible customer service. We were only going to spend $300 at this place, so, it was no loss. Instead, we drove to Lowe's. Don't waste your time, energy and money in this nursery. Many of the plants there, are either dying, or very dry, thus very cheap and inexpensive. Not worth it. Go to another local nursery and deal with actual professionals and not with an arrogant, little boy that thinks that just because he may /may not own the place, means he can treat hispanics, elderly and women in such a cowardly and arrogant manner. You've been warned. Support professionals or other local nurseries. read more

We were Leary about spending $700.00 on 2 trees but now its been a year later and they are really growing well. The service was great and the infromation they gave us really helped with what we have now. I highly recommend them for all of your plants, trees and basically anything that grows outside of your home. read more

I can understand a business prompting you to hear hours, directions and if you need anything else to leave a message (I have tried for two weeks to leave a message and the mail box is always full and can't take a message). The best prompt yet suggests that just to come visit them if the other prompts don't work for you??? Well when you have to drive a long way looking for something particular and they do not have the courtesy to answer the phone to check for availability I don't think they deserve my business. I was given this establishments name from a very well established landscape contracting company in town. I will see the owner tomorrow and I will tell him my experience (or lack of) that I had with this nursery. I will keep looking for other nurseries that are more courteous and consumer friendly. read more

I can't say anything about the integrity or the inside of the shop, but I tried calling multiple times during open hours in different intervals and nobody would answer. I saw from other reviews that customer service sucked and I can concur. read more

The amount of product and its value is great. Unfortunately, the customer service sucks. The young lady at the cashier desk needs extra training. I asked a question and she just stared at me. Great prices. Great selection. Great service. Cashier knew all the plants and their prices although none had a price on them. More than 50% cheaper than the big brand stores Walmart, Lowe's, Home Depot, as well as most other nurseries. read more

Had to clear some energy so decided to take a road trip. Saw all the "beautiful" cacti on my way. But if you're traveling solo, you just can't chance it by: stopping the car, chopping, and jumping back in. There's no gas stations for miles and sometimes no other drivers. On my way back to the Ponderosa (DFW Area) as my Dad used to say, I stopped by Eastside Discount Nursery! This stop was a blessing because the prices and were unbelievable. My rental couldn't hold all of my selections. So, I had to make several "put back" trips! There's freebies when you buy certain items. There's special of the day items. There's % off items. There's a lot of very hard to find items (you just have to have space to transport to your destination)! Customer Service is great. You stand outside where apparently a lot of landscaping companies come so not sure how the "Ladies" memorized this gigantic nursery pricing list. Have to stop by when you're in the area. I was there yesterday and bought a tree and some peat moss. I had to return the peat moss due to finding out I had some in storage so I took it back, But first i tried calling their # and no one would answer. I tried several times. When i I got the store I asked the clerk there why no one answered the phone. She told me the owner wanted no one to answer the phone. I said thats ridiculous. I asked for my money back for the peat moss. She said the owner only gave back crdits toward the store. I said I don't need a credit, I d0nt need anything else from here. She said no. I said what kind of bullshit business is this. You are forcing me to come back to spend MY MONEY HERE? i SAID THAT IS BULLSHIT. You dont answer the phone and you steal from customers by forcing them to come back to redeem your Credit? Goddam communist!!!! read more

I love this Nursery we buy all our trees and other plants from here. The staff is very helpful if you have questions about any of them.

I needed a large pot so headed over because they have good prices, a little bit of a drive. I got there and the parking lot was empty and gates were closed, it's EASTER. I have so much respect for businesses that are willing to close on holidays so their employees can celebrate with family. That meant a lot, now I know to check hours before going out. Has variety of some plants, but limited bushes. The nursery workers very hard working and will help anyway the can. The elder worker is ver knowledgeable of how to care for what is bought & will explain how to care for your choice(s). Came on a Wednesday afternoon, moderately busy. There wasn't much house plant selections but they had a large amount of succulents and perennials. Everyone who asked if we needed assistance was super nice and approachable. If you're looking for decorative pots, they have a bigger selection than most nurseries in El Paso. This was such a wonderful place to go to. The staff was friendly and helpful. The place itself was like walking into a sanctuary. It was a busy day in March but the crowd was incredibly happy. They have a great selection, lower or competitive prices to Home Depot, and it's the perfect local place to support. I'm definitely coming back. read more

I bought three plants from here and only one is still alive. I might not be one with nature, but plants last me a lot longer than three days. Quality of soil they come in is terrible and like another review says these plants are not looked after much at all. I did not remove the soil they came in and unfortunately had a bad insect infestation just from bringing these plants home. I needed up loosing perfectly healthy plants from how bad it got. I also bought a mixture or organic compost and it was terrible. I would return only to look or to buy a watering can. read more

Helped me pick items that would work in the locations I wanted them and in the sizes I wanted. I also ended up getting some extra star jasmine to grow up my back fence after their guidance! We bought 2 windmill palm trees 2 years ago. The 1st one we planted died within 3 months so we returned it and got another one and was planted by one of the employees but it died within 6 months and we couldn't return it. We never went back. We spent $85 for the plam tree and $85 to have it planted. What a waste of money. read more

Always a pleasant experience to stop by and look around. They've got a great selection of plants, including plants best suited to our desert climate. You'll get a great deal on herbs, veggie and fruit plants. I've also bought a few indoor, household plants. Great weekend stop! read more

Been coming to this nursery since I was a child and it was called Black's Nursery at the time. I've been to many other nurseries in the area and I have yet to find anyone who beats their quality and prices. I have always found the staff to be knowledgeable and helpful. Great place for 40 years, Never a problem, People that have nothing good to say are bullies in real life or democrats. If you have nothing good to say don't say it. Dont go back. You have to have something wrong with you that you cant find anything good to say about such a pretty place. Lousy customer service! I called on Friday was put on hold for a very long time, then called on Saturday twice both times I was hung up on. Had my husband call he actually got through, someone answered and helped him. They told him that trees were in stock when I was already told on their Facebook pg. that they were out of stock(which was the only way I got a hold of them). I sent him to pick them up. He told me there was about 30 trees. That is an absolute horrible way to do business, and treat ur customers! And the trees weren't just for any yard. They were being donated from generous people to the Fabens Forgotten Cemetery. Oh and after everything they deleted my comments like if it never happened. I WILL NEVER GO HERE OR PURCHASE ANYTHING FROM THIS PLACE AGAIN! read more

Pros: Good variety of plants at reasonable prices. Cons: Abysmal customer service. The only time an employee approached me was to ask what time it was. It seemed like the entire staff was in a 'closing up' mindset 2 hours before the actual close time. read more

The staff isn't very helpful, the grounds are wet and ruined my shoes, and a third of what I buy there dies.

They have a huge collection of stuff but I called right before I left to see if they had ladybugs and they said "yes" . When i got there an hour later they said they didn't have them, they ran out a while ago! Thanks! read more
