The staff are extremely kind and communicative about every single part of the process whether that's just a vet check up or booking appointments or post surgery treatment or concerns you may have about your pet surgery. Dr. Wong specifically has treated my dog with the utmost care and love. They are very easy to get a hold of and are very flexible in working with your busy schedule. We have brought our pets here for years. First our cats and now our dog. They have always offered expert care and generous advice. When a pet has fallen ill, they compassionately explain the range of testing and treatment options with the pros and cons of each so that we may decide what works best for our family, while never pressuring us to authorize specific procedures or tests. When it was clear that our sweet kitty was nearing the end of his time with us and after multiple visits to emergency clinics, they helped us say goodbye to him. We have boarded our medically fragile pets at their Newcastle location a few times knowing they're expertly cared for. And they were awesome supporting us all through adopting a rescue dog that needed heartworm treatment. (She's in tip top shape now and loves forest walks and the dog park!) Every doc, tech, and front desk staff is superb! We always get quick responses to any email or call. I understand veterinary care can be expensive and people complain that EVA is not a discount clinic. Evidently it's been 10 years since my last review here. My 14 year old shiba is still coming here. I still can not speak highly enough of this vet. Dr. Grace Allodi is who takes care of my sweet little old man. I don't remember the name our our vet tech but she is great too. Honestly, everyone here is great. Bravo recently had his teeth done (and several pulled). They really took so much care and didn't do more than needed (to make more $ off of us). I 100 percent trust this vet. When preparing for Bravo's mouth surgery and procedure we learned he has early stages of kidney disease. Very sad but the vet is helping us do everything we can to prolong his life. He's showing no symptoms at all and his kidney numbers have actually improved with our treatment plan. If you want the best care for your pet, I highly recommend coming here for the duration of your pet's life. read more

We've taken our pets to Eastside Vet for six years. Our dogs were both elderly, unfortunately making us frequent fliers. Eastside vet always provided great care, would answer all of our questions, and discuss treatment options including with end of life care. They also identified a life threatening chronic condition during a normal check up when our cat was about five years old. They've helped us keep it under control successfully such that it no longer a serious concern. When bringing pets for appointments, they have always been prompt. We have never had to wait more than a few minutes. We've used both the Kirkland and Newcastle locations depending on availability and have had great experiences at both. All the staff is kind and caring toward our pets. We also boarded our dogs at the Newcastle facility. They were well cared for and Eastside Vet contacted us promptly the few times there were any irregularities. They are very popular, so sometimes it has been a challenge to schedule an appointment. And, there have been times that their price for a procedure is higher than I expect. However, they always discuss the cost of the treatment options up front and the quality of their care has made it worthwhile. read more

I was told about Eastside from my boss. She said her vet actually took her dog in her own car to urgent care in every attempt to save her life. I went to Eastside with an senior dog and a dog with a leaky heart valve. They talked me into removing all the teeth of my senior, and I am glad I did. His appetite and mood improved. He is happier and more comfortable. Now all of this happened before the second time COVID hit my family. I am a single mom with a 4 and a 6 year old. If they are sick, I miss work. I ran out of paid time off after 6 months and started seeing deductions in pay. Care Credit canceled my account due to failed autopay. Luckily, the vet had told me they can work out a special payment plan on the side. The officer manager assured me communication is #1. Well, my friend who helps with the bills can not help this month. The office and I have spoken about our communication and I have listened and confessed details about my finances I wish I hadn't. Today, they refused to continue a vaccination series because I didn't have the $40 to pay. It is the first time I've ever been expected to pay for a 2nd shot. I wasn't warned of paying when I spoke to staff about my outstanding debt for the surgery earlier this week (not that I blame them, now that I embrace my own poverty, I understand how inconsequential $40 is to most people in this area). They know I am working GrubHub at night to pay, and can do it increments or as a lump sum. After all, communication is what's important here. Well, I was turned away. My friend called to give them permission to use his credit card at any time. However, at this point, I feel as though someone who simply doesn't fit in at this vet clinic. They are for people who have duel income or make well above $80k a year. I am warning you because people who are well off may recommend them, and their services are great- but if you are just working class, or a single mother or don't have ample income, this isn't the place for you. After today, I have decided I can't afford Healthcare for myself or my animals. My kids are covered by the state. I am just a teacher with two side hustles. I am not worth the respect. read more

My dog went here for a while but we unfortunately won't be going back. I took him in for a fairly urgent appointment. I was told he was fine by the vet, but the issue resurfaced 3 days later. I called back and asked if I could bring him in again. They said "it will be $160, is that ok?" I said no, then they offered a $70 option as a "recheck appointment". I still thought that was unfair since I already paid for him to be looked at 3 days before. They ended up prescribing meds instead for the issue and I didn't bring him in a second time. I understand paying for services of course, but I already paid them for the same issue to be looked at 3 days prior without a solution for it. Each of the staff members I've interacted with have been nice and they were nice to my dog the whole time he was a patient here. However, it is clear money is the priority here. read more

About four months ago, I went through one of the most traumatizing experiences of losing my five year old puppy to cancer. Dr Allodi, Dr Coil, and Dr Hung were all implement parts to chasing her comfort and ease in her last few weeks. I can truthfully say that they treat my beloved pets with as much love and care as I would. The staff is always warm and welcoming, and Dr. Hung as nothing short of amazing. As busy as I know she is, she always makes me feel like she has nothing more important to do than answer my questions. For those commenters who feel they were charged for too many things--every time I go in, the itemized bill is brought to me while the vet is still in the room with me, and she goes over it step by step so I know exactly what I'm paying for and why it's important. The person that picked up the phone told me unless I was already a customer they will not do a health certificate for me because it is to much work. Looks like they have three veterinarians at this office that can do pet health certifications. I have nothing but amazing things to say about this clinic. They have the kindest front staff who are genuinely eager to accommodate and help you/your pet. Their doctors, technicians, and veterinary assistants take such great care of my corgis during their visits. I am a hover-parent, but I am 1000% confident that my dogs are cared for the way the staff would care for their own pets. They never come out traumatized, they mostly want to go back for more cookies and cuddles! In addition to their amazing patient and client care, they process my Trupanion claims in real-time! It is a life saver, and allows me to say yes to everything my dogs need because I will only pay my portion. I have had the same amazing experience at their Renton/Newcastle location. I took my pet to Kirkland clinic to check for UTI or other infections as her skin has cut and tics vs seizures. They charged me $ 989.00 for care/ services that were not provided. No CBC or Urine was tested. Unnecessary X-Rays were taken. After I demanded copies of X-rays - they say we do not have them -but they charge half of the cost for X-rays. The cat was told was dehydrated but not a drop of water was given to the pet. Venepuncture was done but CBC was not analyzed! She could not find a diagnosis and still took nearly ONE THOUSAND USD! The Vet. was rude. She said the cat has a heart murmur but could not say which valve was involved on my repeated asking she said the murmur is all over the chest wall. She is not experienced to see our pets. Ads they run are hoaxes. Do not put your pet at risk. read more

They were fine, I brought my 2 cats to this location and the Renton location. I enjoyed the Renton location a lot more, I'd give em 5 outta 5 down there. But man. I brought my cats here originally, then due to urgency I brought my cat with a uti to the renton location. Then when I started bringing my cat back to this location, they started saying 1 of my cats had the same symptoms renton diagnosed and attempted to fix, but couldn't. then they started to try to charge me for the same diagnostic charges 6 months after the failed treatment and diagnosis that nothing was detrimental. And was also tole to feed my cats more. I started feeding a can extra and now every other day My cats refuse to eat the food. they've developed large stomachs. AKA they're fat as fuck to the point they refuse to eat the food in front of them(the amount one of the vets recommended at this kirkland location) Renton was much better, try not to swap who's checking your cats, conflicting advice will be given. :( read more

The front desk staff and nurses are amazing, but unfortunately I can't say the same for the Doctors. We have a baby Dobey and completely understood that they would not do the ear crop surgery unless it was medically required (it's a free country!). So we ended up finding a better veterinarian down in Kent who performed the surgery and was a pleasure to work with. Kent is quite a drive for us since we work in Seattle & Bellevue, and live in Kirkland, so we planned to stay at Eastside Veterinary for everything else minus the surgery related things. After a couple weeks the ears were fully recovered (stitches removed) and then it was just a matter of taping every week until they fully stand. I politely left a voicemail asking if the vets could take care of the taping process, since the surgery was already finished and his ears were recovered, so I didn't see anything "cruel" that they could point to. I even mentioned it was eating into our work schedule and added stress with all the driving because we knew they wouldn't do it. Want to know what I got as a response? Not even a phone call from any Vets! It was a pretty cowardly move, they had their front desk e-mail me saying that the vets thought it would be better if I just stay with the other vet and TRUST ME I would if he wasn't so far away. Luckily, we UPGRADED quite a bit and took our business and beautiful boy to another vet in Kirkland. I would not write this review if a vet had reached out to me and explained why they were basically dumping us, but we dind't even that. I already see that the vets can comment on here and please DO NOT respond to this, I don't want to hear any excuses on anything. Again, the nurses and front desk are awesome, but the vets are pretty cold and bland from an interaction perspective, as well as don't have the decency to directly call someone to tell then they don't want to help your pet. Awful Experiences. Where do I start? Just like the other poster, the vet was always pressuring me to do things, never took into account my financial situation. If I didn't do the $250 bloodwork, I was a bad person. I have never been talked to like I have there. I always left feeling like I was a terrible owner. They really like to focus on the negative. Not only that but they have misdiagnosed both of my dogs and I'm finally done with them. This office is all about one thing, making money, despite how caring they appear on their website. I will never, ever return. I wish I had read the other reviews who also said that Dr Hung was arrogant. yes, she is. Every single time I saw her. Worst bedside manner. I'm so glad to know it wasn't only me who thought this...I kept giving her the benefit of the doubt. She's the worst! Maybe if you have a fresh little puppy with not a single issue she's fine, but don't ever let her treat your animal with a serious condition. She'll just run some tests, charge you and arm and a leg, make you feel bad you aren't doing more and offer little help. Find a vet who actually talks to you on the phone when you call, let's you come in when you can, charges you a reasonable rate and truly cares about your animal. I am so, so lucky that I found this place. Someone recommended it to me on a Livejournal community and I am SO glad I took their advice. I recently moved to Washington from Arizona. My pup is a year and a half old border collie mix. In Arizona I received what I felt like was adequate enough care, but nothing spectacular. When we moved here my Yoshi started having allergy problems, specifically problems with her eyes and a persistent ear infection. I'm very overprotective of my dog, so it feels like I'm at the vet more than I'm at my own doctor. I've never had a problem getting an appointment here, if not the next day, then certainly the one after. The staff is absolutely wonderful. Everyone I've met is very kind and knowledgeable. My vet is Dr Glocker and she is heaven sent. She continuously impresses me with her compassion and attention to detail. She fields all the questions I ask (and I ask a lot) with deep thinking. She never brushes anything I say off, which I felt like my old vet did often. She's a treasure. Just a few more touches I enjoy: they email me my receipt, which my old vet did not, so it cuts back on my paper responsibility. They also provide complementary treats which my picky dog actually eats - a star in itself in my book. The parking is a little tricky - the lot is very small and a little difficult for me to maneuver my big car around in, but I've managed. I also noticed on my way out last time that there was street parking on the other side, which I will more than likely be utilizing on my next visit. I cannot recommend this place more. They got my Havanese Lucy in for an emergency dental surgery and helped her through her lymphoma diagnosis. I highly recommend Eastside Vet. I have known the Owner, Dr. Judy Hung since 2002. Since is a fantastic veterinarian, very smart and very compassionate and kind. She is very patient and answers any question we have. I trust her completely. In addition to Dr. Hung, we have seen other Doctors at Eastside Vet in both the Kirkland and Newcastle location. The facilities are always extremely clean. The entire staff is always very nice and helpful. Dr. Hung has really cultivated a 'family' atmosphere and we have gotten to know several of the staff members. I wanted to share a recent experience....a few months ago, when Bellevue / Seattle got ~4" of snow overnight...we noticed our Black Lab (Buddy) had a swollen cheek in the morning (Saturday AM) and he seemed in pain. Knowing how the Seattle area shuts down with the snow, we really didn't think they would be open. I tried calling and Dr. Hung and Dr. Coil where at their Hospital and were able to see Buddy. It was amazing! We got the medicine we needed and Buddy was much better by the next day. I highly recommend Eastside Vet!!! read more

The first time I brought Charlie in, I was apprehensive. I was new to the area and already had a rough experience with another vet in the neighboring area. Charlie was greeted with lots of attention and affection, as if they'd known him forever. I was immediately put at ease. The rest is history. They never cease to amaze me...everyone. We switched to Eastside Vets from another local vet. It was great move over the last 5+ years. We had to put our dog down today. I cannot say enough about how supportive they have been over the last few months and their euthanasia services were incredible. They got us in quickly, even on a Saturday. They have a pleasant living room space set aside and gave us plenty of information and time. Our dog could not have been more comfortable. Very different from what we have heard at other clinics. We do not a lot of experience in this area, but it could not have been better, considering the circumstances. We went to their Renton office today, though otherwise used the Kirkland office. I have one dog and three cats that have gone here. I have found reception and doctors are all very nice and very helpful in their treatments and diagnosis. I have to give 2/5 on reviews because I always leave being extremely frustrated after being pressured to spend more money on each pet than planned. They are very forward about what should be done for your pet and force procedures that just run up the tab on each appointment. Do not go here if you want a doctor to help you decide what is really needed or required for your animal. I recently found myself in the horrible position of having to step in and end my dogs suffering after a hard fought battle with an oral tumor . I wanted to be able to give our Maddie the comfort of being able to cross over at home and wasn't sure who to call. This place was recommended to me by a friend who had also required the same service a few years ago for her Great Dane. From the very first phone call I was treated with an immense amount of compassion. Dr. Olson and her associate were amazingly sympathetic to our pain and made an absolutely heartwrenching experience bearable. I can't begin to thank them enough for the care and respect they showed us all throughout the process. Sooner or later we will add another dog to our family; when we do there is no doubt Eastside Veterinary Assoc. will be our preferred caregivers. read more

I went to see this vet because of the reviews I read here. The office staff was pleasant enough, however, I felt the doctor was in league with an eastside surgical hospital on some level. They pushed me too hard to a surgery option that I wasn't sure my dog needed at all. I felt the doctor, who I made clear to them my financial situation, pretty much wasn't interested in giving me other options. I was made to feel that if I didnt go with a surgery option, I was a horrible person. The office also badgered me for follow up dental visits, and other treatments my dog didn't need immediately. EVA also did blood lab work my dog didn't need I found out later. The entire visit costed me $400 which is OUTRAGEOUS. And that was $400 I didn't really have, and it was clear I was upset when I got the bill, because I'd been so clear that I was financially strapped. Turns out I saw a different vet in Oregon shortly afterward who did a full workup on my pet, who was far more considerate of my financial situation, who looked at the pre-existing problem EVA pressured me to have looked at by a surgeon, and the vet in Oregon gave me a FAR more reasonable solution... "Keep and eye on it, if it gets worse, bring the dog back, we'll evaluate and talk about a surgery if that looks like it's needed; some dogs live with this condition all their lives and it's fine; Our surgeon charges about $600 to do the surgery, he does it all the time." THAT was the answer EVA should have given me. But no, I got referred to a surgeon that wanted $2500+ for the same surgery! The vet in Oregon charged me a whopping $42 for the visit and another $10 for a suspension modern NSAID to treat a little swelling. The doctor at EVA prescribed an anti-inflamitory that supposedly required blood work before dispensing the drug, I threw the drug away after 2 doses as it caused my dog all kinds of problems, the NSAID the Oregon doctor gave me, is great and no blood work required. That was $52 for the entire visit.. on a Saturday no less! As an emergency walk-in! When the vet I saw in Oregon found out what NSAID was originally prescribed, she was horrified that they would even consider such an antiquated drug when there were so many better options out there. I personally think EVA just wanted to do the blood work to jack up the price of my visit! That's really how I felt. Eastside Vet Asst's did nothing but push costly procedures that turned out to be unnecessary. Not everyone on the eastside can afford a bunch of costly labwork for no reason. Sorry, I really wanted to like them. I really did. I'm in Oregon enough to see the doctor I saw there, I'll continue to take my dog there. I can make it to the Astoria area and back, even with gas and lodging, and it will cost me less than any vet on the eastside so far. Sad, but true. But, I can get a better than good vet there, a beautiful facillity, awesome staff, and a weekend at the beach to-boot. And hey, they'll see me on a Saturday no problem, no extra fee for the Saturday visit either, it's business as usual there. read more

Great place to bring my dog. The whole staff is very caring about you and your pets. They know they are a part of your life and you care about them. They listen to you when you have concerns, offer different ways to take care of a health issue and don't push costly procedures. The cost is very reasonable and the vets there work with you to make sure you don't spend money you don't need to but while also making sure your pets are healthy and happy. We have been taking our black lab Parker to Dr. Hung for most of her life. She will be 13 this summer. Dr. Hung, her Associates and staff are AMAZING! We had gone to several Vets in my south Bellevue neighborhood but just didn't connect with any of them. We drive to the Kirkland location because Dr. Hung and her employees provide the very best level of care and concern for our dog. We are super excited to hear that Dr. Hung has opened her new practice WITH boarding in the Newcastle/Renton area! This will be the PERFECT location for dropping off our dog before heading to the airport on our vacations. Since our dog is aging and requires administration of medications, this will be a wonderful place for her to stay while we are away. We know she will be well cared for and can have peace of mind that should anything happen to her, she will be in good hands with a Veterinarian just minutes away from her during business hours. I am forever grateful for the loving care Doctors Hung and Glocker and the whole staff at Eastside Vet give to my dogs. They have always been friendly, knowledgable, and accomodating to both of my dogs, one of whom just recently passed away. On most recent occasion, our dog Milo who suffered from hemophelia, was in an accident and needed to have urgent help on a Wednesday at 5:30 pm. Despite it being the end of the day, when I called frantic, not knowing what to do - Tiffany immediately said "come in, just come.." Dr. Hung took Milo in right away and did everything in her power to help little Milo - staying very late and rushing him in her own vehicle to Eastside Specialists (pet ER) when it was clear he needed to go to ER. We called Eastside Veterinary in a desperate situation trying to refill our cat's prescription food. We had a horrible experience at Cat Care Clinic in Bellevue and did not want to continue purchasing food from their office. The women I spoke to at Eastside (Montana - hope I'm spelling that right!) was so understanding and said she would do everything she could to help get our prescription filled at their office. We picked up our food that same day and it was cheaper than our previous vet! If that wasn't enough of a bonus, our cats loved the uninary line without the calm. I'm never seen them eat every bite of dinner so quickly. We're so excited to continue with Eastside Vet Associates for all our vaccination, teeth cleaning and check ups. The staff here is outstanding. My wife and I switched to Eastside Veterinary Associates after our beloved, longtime veterinarian, Dr. Wendy Bernstein, former owner of Critter Doctor, left general practice to begin a canine physical therapy enterprise. In addition to a neighbor recommending the practice, my wife and I were convinced to have our Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier (SCWT) seen by the Eastside Veterinary Associates team when we learned that Critter Doctor's former operations manager, Sarah McErlath, was employed by the practice. My wife and I continue to be grateful for the staff's comforting care of our SCWT, especially during her last days, which is why we resumed our relationship with the practice after acquiring our Lakeland Terrier puppy. The team was wonderful before, but it is even better now, which is impressive when one considers the enormous stress that vet practices are experiencing during the COVID-19 pandemic. Highly recommend this vet office! Dr Hung and Dr Chartrand are so knowledgeable and caring, and are very proactive about my 2 dogs health. When one of my dogs has had an issue, they make sure they are seen the same day. The office staff is super friendly and do an exceptional job! During Covid I never have to worry since I can't be with my animals, that they are being well taken care of when they are there, and they always keep me posted every step of the way by phone. Though I know they are a busy office, it never cuts down on the time they spend with me by phone. I am very grateful of the care they provide my animals. I couldn't be happier with Eastside Veterinary Associates, and specifically, the care, love, dedication, and commitment that Dr. Hung has shown my puppy. I brought my dog in for a complex tumor / tooth extraction, and Dr. Hung did a beautiful job with the surgery and with the post op. procedures. She has shown an incredible commitment to my pup by being available for regular check-ins since the surgery multiple times per week, and has gone above and beyond by truly caring for him and his well being. I can't recommend this vet enough. Having someone like Dr. Hung helping my dog has given me an incredible peace of mind and her skills and love have undoubtedly helped with my pup's difficult recovery. read more

Our cat underwent several thousand dollars worth of tests. We assumed that all the blood work would have included a screen for Feline Leukemia. Three weeks later, at another facility our cat is fighting for his life, diagnosed as Feline Leukemia positive and with a chest tumor. I am beyond angry with this veterinary clinic. I am not going to get into detail here but I will just start off by saying..these people will take you for every penny you have. We brought our dog here to diagnose something, the first visit they charged us $750 to basically put her on antibiotics, then a few weeks later tell us that they want to do a biopsy, and that will run us about another $650..We told them we would like to skip the biopsy and go straight to treatment and have not heard back from them since. I feel like they truly do not care about the well being of my dog and just want more and more money..We will be taking her elsewhere. read more

When we adopted our kitten from the shelter, she wasn't feeling very well. After a full day of her not getting any better and not being active at all, we were pretty worried. Since we didn't have a vet for our kitten yet, I called Eastside Veterinary Associates when I saw that they were just down the street from me. I'm so happy I went to them; they saw me immediately, were extremely nice yet professional, and didn't try to push a bunch of "upgrades" on me. Dr. Kennedy gave me some things to watch for, a bunch of options, and a recommended course that seemed quite reasonable to me. Perhaps most impressive, she followed up with us for the next few days over email, checking in on our kitten's progress and letting us know the results of tests as they came in. I was desperate when my original vet wanted to put my dog down. It didn't feel right, he did not feel like he was at the end. The original vet didn't even do a real exam before declaring he was ready to be put down. I found Eastside by just calling to see who would take me that day. These guys took me in after i told them my issue. They gave my big dog lots of attention. It was the most complete exam he's ever had. Eastside found that he was far far from death's door and was able to have him feeling better before he even left the office. It's now been less than 12 hours and he is playing like normal with our other dog. He is eating well, drinking well. His eye is almost completely healed. They came up with a clever way to cover the hot spot on his tail to keep him from biting it back open, and to keep him from smacking it on things when wagging (which is why it wasn't healing). I can't believe the difference in give-a-damn from the last place to Eastside. I'm moving all my animals' records over and will not be back to the other. About the cost. As they we hit the full hour mark in their exam of my dog, I was mentally racking up about a $2500 bill. But when I left it was under $500, which included full blood workup, a full hour with the vet, plus multiple techs coming in and out to help, antibiotics and supplies to replicate that clever tail wrap. The amount of detail they put into his record was amazing. Original vet barely had more than the dog's age and gender recorded. read more
