Dr. Ryan Swanson on 07/03 - 07/04/26 for my Frenchie puppy was phenomenal. They treated a severe ear infection that I was not aware of. He went through all my options and recommended all possible treatments. Roux has been thriving ever since. I was bawling because my puppy wasn't walking, eating or drinking... but the pain was deep in the ear canal that Dr. Ryan Swanson made sure he would do everything to keep him comfy and healthy and safe. We didn't lose an eardrum! Also. There was a nurse here named Nicole that night. We stayed for over 7+ hours and she helped ease my anxiety. I am so grateful it was Dr. Swanson and Nicole. My first visit to the vet was quite concerning. My cat hadn't eaten or used the litter box for 12 hours since vomited, so I brought him in. They recommended an anti-nausea shot and IV fluids. When my cat was returned, I noticed blood spots on the technician's nose. He denied my cat bled, but another technician later confirmed he did bleed a little. Why would the first technician lie? Second visit: 12 hours later, I brought my cat back because he wasn't getting any better. It was almost midnight, and they told us we'd have to wait 2 to 4 hours for an X-ray. My cat also got another fluid injection while we waited, plus some sedative for the scan. Hours later, the vet said there was some unidentifiable object in his middle abdomen that wasn't blocking anything, and he had a really low white blood cell count and a fever. It was almost 1 AM, and everyone was exhausted, but the way the vet explained things made me so worried, especially when he brought up pancreatitis. I wish he could've just said it simply so I could understand and not freak out so much. My cat was sent home again, with antibiotics for the fever and another 12 hours of monitoring.. My poor cat was so stressed and scared after his visit, he even hid when we got home and peed himself! I can't imagine what he went through or saw behind those closed doors, it was so unnecessarily stressful for everyone. Thankfully, he used his litter box and ate a little later that night. read more

I brought in my little dog who was suffering kidney failure. We called all over looking for a place that didn't have an 8 hour wait. Bellevue Vet Emergency & Specialty was open and there was space available. The vet was very kind, checked with the vet cardiologist I'd been working with for a year and then explained what was happening and gave me a choice as to what to do. I chose euthanasia and it was sad and difficult for me, but the vet made it calm and easy. A few days later I received a beautiful sympathy card with some seeds to grow flowers from the Emergency & Specialty Center. I was very touched. I pray that you never need a veterinary oncologist, dear Yelp reader, but if you do, there is no one I would trust more than Dr. Koshino and the staff at Bellevue Veterinary Emergency & Speciality. We are the crazy dog parents who ask a million questions and we found the staff that helped us, especially the front desk staff and Nina the vet tech, were always kind and caring. Dr. Koshino walked us through every option and was there for us through good news and bad. We didn't get the miracle we hoped for, but we have comfort knowing we did the best we could by our sweet girl. When it came time to talk about quality of life and make some tough decisions, Dr. Koshino was patient and knowledgeable. He mapped out on a white board the course of action and got started right away with the exam. He didn't want to push my kitty too hard that day so she went back a couple days later to continue with tests and all the while he either reported back to me on the phone, in person, or email with updates. He was able to diagnose her hypothyroid condition and got her on meds where she is eating again and perky. So glad I took her to this amazing Vet facility. We woke up one morning to find one of our cats had gotten into a houseguest's bag of trail mix. Since we didn't know which cat was the culprit, Bellevue Emergency accommodated all 3 of our cats at once! The vet looked over all of the cats, and since they were stable, suggested we call the poison control hotline to see if the amount of trail mix they may have eaten was even a concern. It turns out we were in the clear and could just monitor the cats without further treatment. Even though the doctor, receptionists, and tech had all taken time with us and our cats, they didn't even charge us for the visit! All of the staff members we interacted with were friendly, helpful, and attentive. We hope we won't run into another pet emergency anytime soon, but are grateful to have Bellevue Veterinary Emergency & Specialty nearby! read more

I had a emergent situation with my cat today and used the emergency vet services here. I've visited other emergency vets and it always feels rushed and transactional, so I wasn't expecting anything but that. My vet tech (Tyler) was so kind and understanding when I was visibly upset, and too the time to make sure he had all the information. Dr. Jeremy Eule was also exceptionally kind and understanding. He even took time to discuss with me another health concern I have with my cat unrelated to the emergency issue. I wanted to make sure they get recognized for their exception work. I've had many canine companions in my life time which also means I've have my fair share of vet and emergency vet visits. My experience with this this veterinary clinic was exemplary. Every single person at this clinic understands how deeply important our animal companions are to us and the amount of care, thoughtfulness and compassion they demonstrate is a reflection of that. I brought my 7 year old French Bulldog in for an emergency visit and after a thorough examination it was determined she would need an emergency life saving surgery. I of course was overwhelmed with stress, anxiety and a sense of loss but I was able to meet with the surgeon (Anastacia) and she was extremely patient and understanding with me. She was able to answer all of my questions thoroughly and she was able to ease my concerns by explaining the surgery and process to me. After speaking with her I felt reassured that my little one was in the best and most capable hands possible. After an hour and a half the surgery was complete and everything went incredibly well and I was able to bring Isla back home the next day. She had to have a pretty significant surgery so I deeply appreciated the attentiveness and support I was given even with her after care process. This clinic and those who work there absolutely go the extra mile. I am so deeply thankful for them and especially for Islas surgeon, Anastacia. I cannot thank her enough. I waited a week since my dog died in this hospital to write this review. My dog came in with signs of pancreatitis and/or liver disease caused by antibiotics and steroids she had to take for her meningitis and an infection in her leg (she had had a leg amputated prior to bringing her here). The surgeon from BluePearl Seattle saw the bile amount in my dog's blood and immediately found a place that had internal medicine. This is the only spot they found that could see my dog right away. At first we were going to do aggressive treatment with blood transfusion, feeding tube and IV. I left on a Monday sobbing because I knew pancreatitis issues are really hard to overcome. But that same night the internal medicine doc called and said that they tried to put a feeding tube on her but she bled so much they stopped. She started eating on her own (thanks to nausea meds) so they didnt try again. Then the next morning (Tuesday) they told me her catheter came off? and they would try again but for now she didnt need it. They were giving all medications orally. Because she was again doing super well. At night I was told I could take my dog home the next day (wednesday) because she was eating on her own and showing signs of improvement in her TBIL. Note she was anemic for days prior to see this doctor, but the blood transfusion wasnt done cause her red cells were not dropping under 25% or so they said. So my dog was now taking all meds orally and I still dont know if she had an IV or not. I think they later tried and put her back on it. The next day a different doctor was caring for her. She told me that my dog had eaten only once that day (Wednesday). But I could still take her home since her main doctor had approved it. We got there to get her, got all the meds and instructions, and then we were told when they went to get her (she was in the isolation ward) she had collapsed. She died right then. In theory all indicated that something had been missed because all her bloodwork and symptoms were better. Then I found out that the doctor who was watching her the last day, indicated my pup was having episodes in which she couldnt breath well and she had a higher heart rate with cough during the night. That she was worried about possible blood clots (her blood pressure was low but heart rate up). I was never told by this doctor that my dog had those issues when we talked in the morning of Wednesday. I was told she had not eaten much but nothing else. If I had known my dog was not breathing well, and that she was "off" that day, and that there were concerns of blood clotting - like it was explained later to me, I would have come visited her at least, and maybe euthanize her if she was not breathing right, and declining. I have no clue why they never thought that maybe, we wanted to see her, and have her see us before something could happen. Overall, I feel like she was not given the best treatment. I dont think her blood values indicated that everything was getting better (I read them). She collapsed, then went agonal, and who knows what else. All I hope is that it was short. She had gone thru so much pain already. Yes now she is not suffering anymore but I still think she did not get the treatment she needed to have the chance to overcome her disease. I think I should have just taken her to the emergency room at BluePearl. But then again, I was following what the surgeon thought was in her best interest. Of course he didnt know much about this hospital as they are not the same company. If you bring your dog here, I recommend that you push them hard to do more tests, and to take the risks and do the treatments. My dog had higher risk of infections and that was used a lot to not do things. If they were worried about blood clotting, and her having low blood pressure, why didnt they tell me or help her? and give her the drug she was given (after she passed) to elevate blood pressure when they saw the blood pressure drop?. I will always feel like she was not a priority here. She didnt deserve to end the way she did. At all. They didnt do enough. read more

My wife and I brought our girl in one night thinking she might just be a little sick. We figured it was no big deal and we'd be taking her home an hour later. Boy were we wrong. After over a month of tears, anxiety, and hopelessness, I can't express enough how much we appreciate the time, care, effort, and love the team here offered. They took her in as their own and did everything in their power to treat her. After 3 grueling weeks, we took our baby home. A week later she got the best news possible on her first check-up! We don't know what the future holds with her condition, but we do know that Dr. Robinson and the rest of the team saved her life and gave us a chance to spend more time with our little girl. We had a serious gastrointestinal issue with our older dog. It was our first visit here. The facility is modern, well staffed and comfortable with lots of secure private areas and exam rooms. We were seen in 30 minutes, blood work completed within an hour and x rays were checked by radiologist within a couple of hours. Krystal our DVM kept us informed of the diagnosis and kept our baby comfortable. We had a long complicated list of meds to administer and the med tech did a great job of walking us through it. Can't say enough good things about the dog and owner experience. Our dog recovered from the incident and we're all happy and relieved. read more

This place is amazing! Every staff member I met from the receptionist to the surgeon was kind and compassionate. They truly care about the well-being of your pet. I recently took my mini Aussie in for a growth removal and was provided with treatment options based on what I could afford. Treatment prices were discussed up front so there wasn't a surprise bill later on. Dr Davis is a skilled surgeon and I very much appreciate her level of communication with me during recovery. I often sent pictures via email to help monitor my dog after surgery and she always responded quickly. I highly recommend this place if your pet needs surgery. read more

My cat got very sick and I checked in to have the worst experience at any business in my life,for starters, the receptionist was extremely rude and unprofessional, super annoyed for some reason. Doctor showed up with a $2000 bell to do blood work and X-ray. and I said that I don't have the money right now and I can pay it off on a payment plan, they said I can't do that, and I'm not allowed to leave without paying because people are abandoning their pets and that they are afraid I'm going to do this. The nurse and the receptionist were super unprofessional and angry at me. I said please bring my cat and I'll just leave, they said that I have to pay $209 or else I can't get my cat. I paid it and I really can't believe how bad this experience was. I really wish rating businesses with -100 exists at this point. read more

The staff was fantastic, the quality of care and consultation was outstanding, and the convenience for Bellevue was top notch. The staff was very kind and pleasant, when we had to bring our baby girl in for an emergency. Lisa at the front was very calm and positive. She treated our dog with compassion. She and the tech and assistant staff were kind as well, and led to a calm atmosphere. We understand we have giant, difficult to manage but happy St.Bernard girl, and they treated her gently and not like a nuisance. Dr.Baer was concise and descriptive with what would happen with the wound and broken teeth. She was receptive but reassuring. I have very stressful and sometimes traumatic job as a social worker, and our puppy is my unofficial therapy dog/friend. My senior dog vomited everything I gave her to eat for 12 hours straight. It got so bad she couldn't even keep water down. It was a Saturday night of course. In desperation I stopped giving her anything hoping that would calm her stomach, but she kept throwing up. Then I knew it was an emergency. I called Bellevue Vet Emergency and from that first phone call until her discharge I knew it was a well run, highly professional organization. They kept me informed every step of the way. I was consulted every time there was a decision to be made, they explained my options and answered my questions. Bellevue Vet and Emergency also submitted everything to my pet insurance. The best part is that I got my girl back and she is healthy again. As with everything nowadays it was expensive and my pet insurance figured out away not to pay for it. Really disappointed by the lack of communication post-procedures and on treatment plans. When told we would hear back within 72 hrs by doctor or 3 business days "per their policy," one time it was three weeks and a different time 2 weeks+ to hear back. When trying to address concerns, business was quick to blame customer as "complaining," even though we communicated clearly with both their doctor and primary vet on records and needs, and even made sure to facilitate records sent. They put ownness on customers to not only pay astronomical prices for their services, but to then feel like it's our fault for not hearing from them because they have "bigger procedures" they are dealing with. read more

Waited 3 hours, worrying about our kitty. Dr. Kim kept telling us more and more tests we should run, making us wait in between, but each time she returned she just talked about more test options. Then told us to expect costs to run anywhere from 9000 to 12000 dollars. We said we wanted our kitty back to take her to a different vet. They charged us $668 for nothing but blood work. We went to another vet who was very honest with us and said our kitty probably had a cancer that hadn't shown up in any blood work and that she was terminally ill. It was obvious to me she was dying and it makes me sick we wasted 3 hours with her sitting in a back room only to have to take her elsewhere to be humanely euthanized. Our hearts were so broken to lose our sweet girl and what this hospital did to us was horrible. It's obvious they just want to get as much money out of you that they can. To make things even worse, when we were leaving, the tech said, "what a sweet kitty, I've been carrying her around with me back there". Our kitty was feral when we got her 15 years ago. She was terrified of anyone except us. Only my husband and I could hold her. That's how fast she was declining! To have a stranger pack her around while she was dying is a horrible thought for me. How dare she do that to my baby girl! My heart hurts so bad read more

My wife and I brought Henry here on a Sunday after he had blood in his stool and emesis. To say they were wonderful would be an understatement! Dr. Anastasia Davis is a very unprofessional doctor. She has very little surgical experience, so she will experiment with your dog and learn through the experiments. I subsequently consulted with many other doctors and was told that my dog only needed the most common orthopedic surgery, but unfortunately she was treated with a very drastic and inappropriate approach by Dr. Davis. After a failed surgery that cost more than $10,000, we were told my dog was still at risk of amputation. My dog had repair surgery done at another hospital for about $8,000. Dr. Davis will leave your dog with trauma that will never be fully repaired, stay away from this doctor. read more

We have had the unfortunate pleasure over the last 1.5 months to work with several veterinarians and departments (ER, Surgical, Oncology) at Bellevue Veterinary Emergency & Specialty with our dogs, Hank and Hyla. Dr. Anastacia Davis, Dr. Robinson, Dr. Koshino, and Dr. Bose (and I'm sure more) have all been incredible in both of our pet's cancer treatments so far and I can't speak highly enough about their excellent bedside manner, communication, quality of care, and empathy for our pets (and me). The front desk associates, technicians and assistants have been caring in consistently, and the documentation sent following visits is excellent for us to maintain consistent communication with our regular vet. We know we have many visits with them ahead of us, but their excellent standards of care that have been consistently delivered make us confident that we've chosen the right place to provide excellent treatment for our pets. For pet owners, I enjoy that this clinic works with Trupanion to process insurance prior to payment - while we don't have this pet insurance and I am not positive if this is a test or regularly offered service, I can't imagine the relief this brings to pet owners who have insurance for their pets. read more

Cancelled my appointment after telling me I would be "re-shuffled into the queue" but actually was cancelled. Was hoping to get my cat into be seen but was actually spoken over by the vet on duty. I was initially sent here by my vet because they have extended hours which worked great due to my long hours and vets booked schedule. After speaking to the vet tech as well as the vet who wouldn't take accountability because their "system was new" which is how I was cancelled. The vet called me to lie and say they had "life threatening issues" which obviously they were not wanting to help others and their animals. Disrespectful service. Hopefully your animal is in serious need otherwise they will not assist you. read more

We had a really good experience here. 4:30am our 16 yo dog was in distress and had had a stroke. We called and someone answered immediately, we brought our dog in while we filled out the intake form online on the way. By the time we arrived, they saw us right away. I took my dog to this specialty center to meet with the surgeon Dr. Robinson. My dog needed a cancerous Tumor removed at the anal gland along with a lymph node that the cancer had spread to. I work for another local vet but wanted a board-certified surgeon doing this major surgery. The doctor was very kind and explained everything very well. When I came back for the surgery I met with the anesthetist Jess before leaving my pup behind. I was really nervous due to my dog being very sensitive to certain drugs because he carries a mutated MDR1 gene. She knew all about it and had a plan in place for what drugs he would be receiving and really calmed me down about the situation. Tracie Who is the pathologist there was talking to me about what all was going to be done and what to expect afterwards, she is one of the kindest people I have ever met. After surgery was over I got my boy back and went home for recovery. He had a small complication afterwards (not their fault), so we had to go back in through ER and met with an ER doctor named Dr. Erickson. She was amazing!! so very sweet and kind with my dog. Dr. Lewis also was helping out and super friendly. They both took excellent care of my boy. Mackenzie was one of the techs and did Sawyer's blood draw, she was a pro and he was not being easy. If only I could have a Mackenzie around for my own blood draws! So to sum it all up This vet hospital way exceeded all my expectations, all the staff I was dealing with were all very friendly and treated my dog with great care. The place is clean and large with a nice layout in the lobby so you have plenty of space to keep away from other pets while waiting. The clinic is privately owned which I really appreciate and their prices are far better than some of the other large corporate specialty clinics. If ever I need another ER visit or surgery done I will be back to this hospital for sure. I am super picky about who handles my dog, this place earned my trust. Thanks for all you do and all your hard work to everyone at Bellevue ER and Specialty!!! Working at a vet is not an easy job, you all are amazing! We brought our cat here when our usually Vet was closed as our cat was very sick with a blockage. The treatment was expensive (almost 10k) but we were very willing to pay as we love our cat. After 4 days we brought our cat home and she relapsed the next day. We called to bring her back when she went critical and they refused to see her as they were too full. Our cat died on the way to the vet further in Redmond. The pain this caused to me and my family by having my cat die on my son's lap why we are frantically trying to find this new vet is immeasurable and continues every day. This place is frustrating. I specifically asked on the phone if there will be an internist because that's who my vet wanted me to go to along with doing an ultrasound. I was told there was an internist that I could work with there. At the end of the ultrasound, I learned there is no internist and there will not be one until October. If I knew that I would not have gone to Bellevue Vet ER and Specialty. I would have gone to an imagining place that wouldn't have charged an extra $150 exam fee that I didn't know about. Or, I would have made the long drive to Summit in Tacoma. (They're kind and organized.) After the ultrasound, I wasn't able to talk to the radiologist/vet or know what was found! I was told the results will be sent to my vet. This is the vet that I specifically said wants me to find an internist because my dog's issue and treatment is out of their scope. I should have listened to my intuition and not gone to Bellevue Vet ER and Specialty when I saw they had no standardized referral system and that it was a an extra run around for my vet. read more
