Cancer sucks but we know our baby got the very best treatment.

I pray that you never need a veterinary oncologist, dear Yelp reader, but if you do, there is no one I would trust more than Dr. Koshino and the staff at Bellevue Veterinary Emergency & Speciality. We are the crazy dog parents who ask a million questions and we found the staff that helped us, especially the front desk staff and Nina the vet tech, were always kind and caring. Dr. Koshino walked us through every option and was there for us through good news and bad. We didn't get the miracle we hoped for, but we have comfort knowing we did the best we could by our sweet girl. When it came time to talk about quality of life and make some tough decisions, Dr. Koshino was patient and knowledgeable. I have nothing but nice things to say about Dr. Koshino and Bellevue Veterinary Emergency and Speciality, and, I hope I never need to see them again. Cancer sucks.

    Hazel here for more tests.

My kitty was referred by our local vet to diagnose her problems breathing, lethargy and not eating. The place is modern, clean facility with a waiting room, coffee and water. We met with a tech who talked to me for 20 minutes to get information about my kitty before meeting with Dr. Garraway who is one of the most focused internist vets I've met. He mapped out on a white board the course of action and got started right away with the exam. He didn't want to push my kitty too hard that day so she went back a couple days later to continue with tests and all the while he either reported back to me on the phone, in person, or email with updates. He was able to diagnose her hypothyroid condition and got her on meds where she is eating again and perky. So glad I took her to this amazing Vet facility. I wish my own doctor were this thorough.

We had an elderly dog suffer a significant traumatic event. Our pet was well cared for. Everyone from the receptionist, vet technicians and on call veterinarian were super helpful.

I highly recommend Bellevue Veterinary Emergency and Specialty if you are in need of highly experienced and attentive veterinary professionals. I've had many canine companions in my life time which also means I've have my fair share of vet and emergency vet visits. My experience with this this veterinary clinic was exemplary. This is veterinary care at its absolute finest. Everyone I worked with and spoke with were extremely patient, understanding, compassionate and informative. Every single person at this clinic understands how deeply important our animal companions are to us and the amount of care, thoughtfulness and compassion they demonstrate is a reflection of that. And it can only be matched by the knowledge, expertise and professionalism for which they conduct their care. I brought my 7 year old French Bulldog in for an emergency visit and after a thorough examination it was determined she would need an emergency life saving surgery. I of course was overwhelmed with stress, anxiety and a sense of loss but I was able to meet with the surgeon (Anastacia) and she was extremely patient and understanding with me. She was able to answer all of my questions thoroughly and she was able to ease my concerns by explaining the surgery and process to me. After speaking with her I felt reassured that my little one was in the best and most capable hands possible. After an hour and a half the surgery was complete and everything went incredibly well and I was able to bring Isla back home the next day. She had to have a pretty significant surgery so I deeply appreciated the attentiveness and support I was given even with her after care process. This clinic and those who work there absolutely go the extra mile. I am so deeply thankful for them and especially for Islas surgeon, Anastacia. I cannot thank her enough. From here on out Bellevue Veterinary Emergency & Specialty is the only clinic I will go to for any future emergency veterinary needs.

My wife and I brought our girl in one night thinking she might just be a little sick. We figured it was no big deal and we'd be taking her home an hour later. Boy were we wrong. After over a month of tears, anxiety, and hopelessness, I can't express enough how much we appreciate the time, care, effort, and love the team here offered. They took her in as their own and did everything in their power to treat her. After 3 grueling weeks, we took our baby home. A week later she got the best news possible on her first check-up! We don't know what the future holds with her condition, but we do know that Dr. Robinson and the rest of the team saved her life and gave us a chance to spend more time with our little girl. Little did they know we had a very very close person pass away shortly before we brought her in - we needed this good news. Thank you to everyone there for everything you did! We couldn't be more grateful.

Peach, all patched up and tuning in international radio stations.

VEG seems to have emergency veterinary service and human customer service dialed in. it's hard to know who and where to go in an emergency but i'd carried the VEG name and number in my phone for years without having a need to use them; now i can say that i'd recommend them based on our experience this past weekend.

It was so helpful to be around such a caring individual at the worst moment of my life. We had taken Penny in once before, and my husband and I both appreciated the set up of the clinic - you can see your animal being cared for and be with them every second. We didn't ever stay overnight with Penny during a hospitalization, but what an amazing thing to be able to be with them the whole time. Other emergency vets aren't like that. Thank you, VEG!

She had been scratching around her eyes, and had developed some scratches that were inflamed. Ultimately, she was prescribed antibiotics, with a proposed eye dye. The medical director was my treating vet, and she explained why the eye dye was suggested, but not required. In an expensive time, I'm very appreciative that they didn't push for an unnecessary test. She and the team all had great bedside manner. Yes, the wait was a bit long, but it wasn't through any fault of the staff; multiple stat cases had come in and understandably, skin irritation wasn't at the top of the to-do list. Also, they did let me know up front that it would be a bit of a wait, so again, good communication. While I hope I never have to take my baby into an emergency vet, I would definitely come back to VEG.

Unfortunately, our experience fell far short of those expectations. We brought our dog in after she had been vomiting for days, hadn't eaten in two days, was panting heavily, whining in pain, and appeared to be having difficulty breathing. She was taken to the back immediately, but after that we were left sitting in an exam room for over an hour with no updates. We eventually went to the front desk ourselves to ask what was going on. We were told the doctor would be in shortly, and then waited another hour before he finally came to speak with us. During that conversation, we learned for the first time that our dog had arrived with a temperature of 104 degrees. We asked whether she still had a fever, and the doctor didn't know and said he would have to go check. About 30 minutes later, another staff member brought treatment estimates that included a quick scan ultrasound the doctor had never mentioned. This was the first time anyone told us that a quick scan ultrasound had supposedly been performed. We had questions about the findings, but no one could clearly explain them. When the doctor returned, he recommended additional bloodwork before realizing information from recent bloodwork was already in our dog's chart. Watching him review the chart in front of us after making recommendations significantly undermined our confidence in the care being provided. After approximately four hours, we left with a bill of more than $600, no diagnosis, no treatment plan, and no clear answers about what was causing our dog's symptoms. We were charged for an IV catheter and a quick scan ultrasound. Despite being told our dog arrived with a 104 degree fever, nobody ever explained why no treatment was provided for it. Emergency medicine is complicated, and not every case has an immediate diagnosis. What isn't acceptable is spending four hours in an emergency hospital with so little communication, so little doctor interaction, and so few answers.

Would a hospital make your loved one wait for payment before starting treatment? I will never bring a pet back to this location and I will be sure to spread the word about their lack of professionalism, inability to triage, inability to be an adult and speak directly, and lack of a standard of care. Based on that experience, I expected the same level of organization, communication, and care. Unfortunately, that wasn't my experience here. I visited twice within the same week with my dog and fully understood that the hospital was treating critical patients during both visits. Emergency hospitals must prioritize life-threatening cases, and I was patient with the wait because I know that's part of emergency medicine. My concerns began after we were seen. Throughout both visits, we interacted with so many different doctors and staff members that it became genuinely disorienting. I couldn't keep track of who was overseeing my dog's care because multiple people came in to ask questions, perform examinations, or discuss next steps. At one point, I was even given two different treatment recommendations by two different doctors during the same visit. As a client in an emergency situation, I shouldn't have to sort through conflicting recommendations. Those conversations should happen within the medical team before they're presented to the pet owner. I was also concerned by the condition of the hospital during our visit. Blood-soaked towels remained on the floor near the entrance for over two hours after a critical patient had been moved elsewhere in the hospital. Overflowing bins of wet, used towels were left against the wall during that same time. Seeing biohazardous materials left in common areas for that length of time raised concerns for me about sanitation and infection control. What stood out most to me was how different this experience felt compared to VEG Seattle. The Seattle location felt organized, well-coordinated, and adequately staffed. Even while treating emergency cases, communication was clear, responsibilities seemed well defined, and the overall experience inspired confidence. Everyone I interacted with was kind and courteous, and I sincerely appreciate the work emergency veterinary professionals do. My concerns are not about individual staff members, they're about the systems in place at this location. I hope leadership will look at what is working so well at the Seattle hospital and consider implementing those same practices here, because the difference in the client experience was significant.
