Super cool Asian market / convenience store that is reminiscent of the family-owned Asian stores one found in the 90s. Friendly staff, and great selection of international items and snacks, from Asia as well as Europe. They have excellent Buddhism / Chinese folk religion items in the back for very reasonable prices. I purchased myself a Shakyamuni Buddha and Guan Yin for our home. Just ask the front desk to open up the glass cabinet in the back, if there is something that interests you. They also have well-priced instant ramen if you need something on-the-go. There are more gift items in front (lighters, jewelry, etc.) Also, do not forget to check their beer / liquor section. Remnant of family-owned asian equivalent of ¨7-11" + traditional asian trinket store in downtown Mtn View - what more could you ask for! Found them during the Arts and Wine Fair in Mtn View - just went into find some ibuprofen but found ourselves looking throughout the aisles at the asian snacks as well as the traditional asian porcelain figures of Buddhas and other traditional/cultural asian figurines. Be mindful that the staff are not going to greet you or provide any hospitality - they are old-school to make sure you pay for what you pick up,and try to mitigate thefts. No lip service. Take it FWIW and don't expect to be greeted like you are walking into the lobby of a 5 star Hilton. They have cool stuff that you may want or convenience items you may need. read more

I GOT CHEATED THEN INSULTED I paid $10.00 for 5 sets of PowerBall lottery tickets. The next morning I noticed they only printed one set instead of 5. When I called to say this was the second time they did this to me, they first said that I should have checked the ticket before I left the store, then they called me a liar. Extreme racial profiling. It was my first time in the store and after looking at the SUPER overpriced items, I walked out after not even two minutes. The cashier who happened to be an older Asian woman (who I'm pretty sure is the owner) followed me practically outside of the story yelling "you have to pay". I walked back inside and was confused so I said that I didn't want anything. She then falsely claimed she had seen me stealing on the security cameras and I told her to check me multiple times if she was so sure. Once she realized she had made a scene, she then told me to go away because she KNEW that I had not done anything. I was shaking by the end of it. Wow this place has a lot packed into a small space. All kinds of teas, cookies, candies, Sakè, a table you can sit at and scratch your lotto tickets, Alcohol, beer, soda and even Japanese plates. Super convenient Asian grocery store in the heart of Mountain View. In addition to regular Asian groceries, they fit many varieties of tea, Haribo gummy candies, lottery tickets, and statues / Zen-like water sculptures. It is amazing how much stuff they can fit inside such a tiny footprint. That being said, it could be better organized and cleaned/maintained better. Some items looked like they had been sitting for some time and gave off that musty smell. I have never had a bad experience here though, so worth checking out if you're in there area and craving some matcha Kit Kats! :) read more

Used to be a regular. Every time i came to get something i would always leave my change for anyone else that would possibly need it. Today i came in and the lady with glasses was blunt from the start. My total was 5.22 and i had 5$ i asked if that was okay because I always leave my change for others that may possibly need it. But today she was firm on the 22 cents. Then ended up charging me an additional 50 cents for debit fee. They lost a loyal customer for 22 cents. read more

Went here to buy a tea set as a Christmas gift. It was clearly marked $29.99, but on check out, the cashier added $11.45 to the bill with no explanation given. It's unassuming, but now when we are downtown we often find ourselves in here picking up something. It's a fairly large store and they have a ton of stuff to browse and look at: Gambling stuff - I honestly love scratchers (I think I get it from my Grandma). Porn - yep they have a section behind door and while I haven't gone, if you have the need . . . they might be able to scratch it. Trinkets - The other day I was showing my fiance a Neko Cat I liked in the back (good luck cat) and he went back and bought to put it in my stocking. LOVE! Food Snacks - Asian and American stuff Drinks - Thirst quenchers and alcoholic So, they have all kinds of stuff and I love browsing some times or getting a scratcher. The cashiers are also always super nice and I look forward to seeing them every time, So why one star off? It can seem a little dirty, but I get it. They have a lot in the store and that some times can be hard to keep clean, especially with so many people coming in and out. read more

Long overdue review. I love the products they sell here... most are very old but high quality and famous asian products that are hard to find in other asian markets. They have a rare but great japanese ramen selection, all sorts of nice asian seasoning like seaweed flakes, sesame seed, bamboo in oil, anchovy with black bean, sriracha, thai curry sauce, a famous brand of coffee that I haven't seen for a long time, popular matcha booster, japanese candy, sweden sore throat candy, etc etc... they have policy of not bringing in any drink, and I was asked to leave once. I can understand why... their products are sold with very decent price and they are self-employed, they shouldn't need to hire extra person to clean up messes if customers spill drink... especially that they are open a bit late and sometimes drunk people go into the store for smoke or alcohol. Anyway, I recommend this store if you need to visit a convenient store in the area... the fun and precious part is to look at and try the rare yet good quality and old brands. read more

Small place that is really packed with a variety of goods.There are plenty of Chinese,Japanese and Filipino snacks and candies to choose from.The purple sweet potato is really tasty, and the also have slab candy as well.You can get your usual sodas, and different sakes and beers from other countries.There are also low-priced watches and knickknacks.One downside is it gets really hot in there--it was hotter than outside when I went in. read more

A Chinese owned convenience/liquor store that also sells stuff you'd see at a Chinese supermarket, including instant noodles, Vita brand artificially flavored drinks. They even have a selection of sake in the wine section! Also a section for purchasing lottery tickets because Asians love to gamble. Don't look for groceries here (go across the street for that), you either buy grub, snacks, alcohol to go, or gamble the lottery. But right past the entrance door, on your right is a shelf wide out in the open that holds sealed copies of dated Hong Kong porno magazines. +1 star for not giving customers any privacy like a semi transparent curtain, or its own cubicle, and +1 star for putting this by the front, so we know who the old pervs with yellow fever are! read more

Came in to buy some cigarettes and unfortunately they are a business that insists you charge a minimum of $10 on your debit/credit card or else you will not be able to use it with them. I ended up grabbing a Lindt white chocolate and coconut bar for $3 and a pack of gum. I was pretty surprised by them having a high end chocolate selection in the first place let alone the fact that you gotta charge a stupid $10 on your electronic payment card. They might as well be cash only. A star goes to convenience, a star goes to selection but no stars for that whack rule just cause they don't wanna pay for the costs themselves. Racist, racist, racist owners! Do not patronize. I'm still shaking from shock, trying to hold back tears, as I write this. Not only did they refuse to serve me, they also implied I was a criminal - and I happen to be black. I swung by Easy Foods Company this afternoon because I'd just heard about tonight's Powerball jackpot on the radio as I drove through downtown Mountain View. And lo and behold, I found an old lottery ticket in my wallet so I first checked at the external customer facing machine to see if that had won. Unfortunately the machine seemed glitchy - had to scan several times, but it had trouble reading the barcode, likely because it was an old ticket. So I went to the counter and asked Sonny to use his scanner to double check - has a feeder and more reliable. He refused, and asked me to check myself at the other scanner. I was surprised, but told him I had already checked, to which he cut me off and said that he was the owner and didn't believe me, and I was going to "scam him by pretending I won $10 when I didn't." I'm still trying to process that logic - how does that scam work? Isn't the scanner authoritative? Gloria then joined us, so I turned to her, visibly frustrated and explained what was happening. She also refused, implying that I was up to some scam. Both said I was wasting their time, even though there were no other customers. At this point I was quite shaken, still didn't raise my voice, tried to reason with them for several minutes to understand why this was so complicated for such a small request - takes 5 seconds to scan the ticket ... but they spent almost 5 minutes refusing to scan my ticket. Sonny then started calling the police, and so I said great, I'll wait - let me pop out my camera. He then hung up and demanded I leave. By then, there was another customer behind me, and she whispered to me not to bother with them and to just take my business somewhere else. Not wanting to waste another customer's time, I left. My whole day is ruined, I'm upset and incredibly sad that in 2018 we still have to deal with this sort of prejudice. read more

A little gem on Castro. One thing I come here for is the packaged mochi. It is so inexpensive!!! They don't have a huge selection of mochi, so I always got a little veriety pack that came with a couple sesame mochi-my favorite! When I asked the owner if they carried any other sesame mochi, she said no. The next time I came back, they had ordered packs of all sesame mochi! Happy customer! They carry a cariet of snacks from Japan. I can also get my TAPIOCA PEARLS here! As well as my glutenous rice flour. It is really convenient and the prices are great on some items, just ok on others. They also sell a ariety of statuary, as you can see in their shop window. We will always come back. read more

My favorite neighbor indeed. No refund, No credit card if you buy less than $10. This place reminds me small convenience markets 15 years ago in Korea except the porn magazines. I really like the place like this. Not very big but has everything I need--hey this doesn't include the mags. Good beer and wine section, even markets bigger than this doesn't have the better ones. The storekeeper is very kind. 5 stars because I just feel like to. Unfortunately many small convenience markets like this in Korea were disappeared and changed their banners to corporate chains like 7-11 which is no fun. Maybe that's why I like this place more. I'm not very good at Chinese characters but those on the banner is like "yi fu gong si" in Chinese, I think 'yi fu' came from 'easy foods' by pronunciation (the meaning of characters is also good ones like the righteous wealth) and 'gong si' came from 'company' by meaning. I love coming here after having dinner somewhere along Castro St. Products/Items? It's an Asian convenience store! Imported snacks, drinks, trinkets, herbal remedies and lotto. That pretty much sums it up. Price? Definitely costlier than if you went to a bigger Asian supermarket. Location? In the heart of Downtown Mtn. View. Definitely worth crossing the street. Store? They have a wide variety of imported cookies, including Danish butter cookies, fine cocoa candies and Japanese chocolates and other fine stuff. And a good wine selection, including cognac. This is a kind of international convenience store right on the main drag of castro street. Parking is street only which means there is no parking, but it's only a block or so away from the train station. There are some parking options a block off Castro in any direction and in case of emergency there is a parking garage a block or so away that pretty much always has spots available. While this store has a very Asian feel, it also carries some totally euro items, and well, eclectic stuff from everywhere that sells. It's one of the best places-possibly the only place off castro-to buy lottery tickets. It has one of the best selections of sake/soju, both in the range of choices and pricing. It also carries some very fine dominican rum (Brugal. Anejo, Blaco, and Extra Viejo). They have two whole isles dedicated to tea-three if you count the aisle with tea servers, kettles, cozies, cups, balls, strainers etc. In addition to the expected asian tea styles they have a good selection of polish herbal imports as well along with things like nilgiri and rooibos in tea bag form. Great selection of chocolates and sweets that are by no means common elsewhere like green tea kit kats, Hippo, and dark chocolate kit kats. Also pocky. So much pocky. More pocky then you will ever want, in all the flavors. Not really the best place for grocery shopping although they do have packaged noodles, soy and wasabi as it lacks fresh goods like produce but is a wonderful place for singular oddities. Their pop selection is kind of weak, but their liquor selection is immense. Even better, if you are sick of Frito Lay snack food, Easy Food has a good selection of Asian snack food. Been to this establishment a number of times over the years. Last evening I bought some Taiwanese pineapple and mango cakes--sort of like fig newtons, only much bigger and chewier (and tastier, in my book), $1.29 a pack, can't remember the exact number in each pack. Plenty of Asian tchochkes, sweet treats, among other items. Plus tons of liquor, among other items many a convenience store carries. The non-easy thing at this store is the debit/credit card minimum of $10. Yikes, are we back in the '90s? Not the cheapest or biggest place. I try to go to Easy Foods at least once a week to buy a little something. The owners, Sunny and Gloria are completely sweet and helpful. Their black and green tea selection is large and the prices are competitive- a deal. I have bought shiny cloth purses to use for gift bags. Lots of stuff here that you need but you just don't know that you need it until you shop at Easy Foods. There is a lottery table where the occasional senior hangs out to make their gamble for the day. It is old style Mountain View, homey, no pretense. Enjoy. read more
