What should have been a simple service appointment turned into weeks of frustration and a complete failure of professionalism. We requested a quote online, paid a deposit, and scheduled an appointment for a Sunday afternoon (2-5 pm). We never received a confirmation email, but assumed the booking went through. When we couldn't reach anyone by phone to confirm, we let it go. On Sunday morning at 10 am -- hours before our appointment -- we got a call telling us they don't have technicians working on Sundays. Nobody could explain how we were able to book a Sunday appointment through their own online system, or what we were supposed to do next. I called Monday and spoke with a manager who admitted this was a known issue with their scheduling system -- one they were "working to fix." I was offered a discount and rescheduled for the following Friday, 8 am-12 pm. Okay, frustrating, but I gave them another chance. Thursday evening, less than 24 hours before that appointment, we received a voicemail saying our Friday appointment was also being cancelled because of "another service." No explanation, no apology, no alternative offered. I called back furious. I made clear I wanted someone to show up for the appointment we had. The person I spoke to went to check with a manager -- who couldn't even be bothered to call me directly. When they called back, the answer was simply: reschedule for next week. No compensation. No acknowledgment of the repeated failures. Nothing. The only thing Air Flows Chicago did quickly and without issue was refund my deposit when I demanded it. One additional note: their online booking system never made clear which location -- Air Flows Chicago or Air Flows Chicago Belmont -- was handling our appointment. We still don't know. That lack of transparency is itself a problem, and it's why I'm posting this on both listings. Two cancellations. A known broken booking system they hadn't fixed. A manager who wouldn't get on the phone. And zero effort to make it right. Save yourself the headache and book someone else.

And our brand new dryer wasn't drying at all. Between the two, we knew we had to get the vents cleaned for the sake of our allergies, and the dryer vent was a must. I did some research, and was tempted to get those groupon deals for the vent cleanings... However, after reading reviews and doing some homework, we opted out for these guys. $369 is a lot of money, but for a job like this, we didn't mind. The two guys arrived exactly on time, wore shoe covers, hauled all their things up the stairs, told me it would be about 1.5 hours (which it was) for the whole job, and got to work right away. When it came to the dryer vent, I was told there wasn't a lot coming out from the wall, so he would have to go in the attic to check it out. Apparently that's where the issue was. The guy told me that because of the age of the building, the pipes being used have coils instead of being smooth, so a majority of the stuff collects further up top. Then he said that the unit below us has a bathroom vent that comes into our attic... that had disconnected itself, which he reattached... so if they get their vents cleaned, the people cleaning will have to enter our attic. I was asked if we wanted our vent covers washed, but we're replacing all of them, so I declined. In regards to people mentioning how clean the place was after the guys did their work... I couldn't tell ya. We're in the middle of painting and fixing things up, so the whole place is a mess. But nothing seemed dirtier... Not that you could make that 80s cat hair covered carpet any worse. They also reattached our dryer and turned the gas for it back on. Then had me sign the paperwork, took their check, and were on their way. We'll see them again next year for another dryer vent cleaning. Great company.

I had Air Care Services of Downers Grove out clean our dryer vents today. This was a community-wide…read moreservice orchestrated by our property manager. Basically, call and reserve an appointment, if interested. As it had been several years, we decided that this was a good time to have it done. The price was reasonable and the workers were courteous and professional. I had a load of towels in the wash and put them in the dryer. Shortly thereafter the water leak detector in the laundry room (I have sensors by all water sources) alerted. No water but the humidity was extreme. When the humidity continued to climb, I became concerned. I checked the outdoor dryer vent and found no exhaust flow. Peering behind the dryer, I found the dryer vent hose wedged between the dryer & wall unconnected. I called the company and they arranged to have the techs come back out. As I was dissatisfied with the service I asked for consideration and was transferred to Bruce, the owner. I told Bruce I was not happy and outlined the incident. Bruce immediately went on the defensive and told me how I could condemn his techs, they had "done hundreds of jobs without incident". He continued in this vein, refusing to listen. I told him fine, I'm done and he continued to harangue me. I had to hang up to shut him up. Shortly thereafter, the techs returned and connected the vent. I checked the outside vent and they left. Shortly after that, my spouse came home and found the dryer firmly planted next to the dryer without any clearance. They may call themselves Air Care, but they flunk customer care.

Experience has shown that many local duct cleaners cannot clean the booster fans, which sometimes results in dangerous and noisy lint buildup on the fan blades.
