I met Dr. Waite through a dear friend and co-worker. I am in Westie Rescue and have been doing…read morethis for almost 19 years. I picked up a rescue in Kentucky and for the first two weeks he was doing great. Then Robbie started getting sick and got worse as the days went by. I rushed him to Dr. Waite, and he diagnosed him correctly and operated on him later that day and saved his life. This man has a God given talent and is an absolute brilliant vet. When you go to him, he does not look down at you and listen to your concerns and asks you your opinion which other vets think pet owners are stupid. Trust me, I have been to many vets over the years. I moved back to Virginia in 2012 and have never seen another vet that matches this man's intellect or care for pets. In 2016 my precious Chauncey contracted a deadly disease and after going through 4 different vets and two specialists, they could not find out what was wrong with him. Chauncey died in my arms a month later and my instincts kept telling me to take him to Dr. Waite. I would have gladly driven the 700 miles but Chauncey was too frail. If I had listened to my instincts, I believe Chauncey would still be alive today as I know that this man would have done everything he could to save him. Thank you Dr. Waite for everything you do to help our pets and most of all the pet owners. There is a special place in Heaven for you! Phyllis Hovey

What kind of animal hospital turns away an animal having an emergency?! Thankfully Rocket City Veterinary Hospital just down the road was able to see our dog immediately! I think we've found our new vet.

Outstanding Professional Help…read more We found Companion Animal Care about five years ago when my wife and I moved to Huntsville and needed various services for our senior King Charles Cavalier, Rex. Through a number of medical issues that Rex had over the years, Dr. David Alford and his caring staff were always attentive to Rex's (and our) needs and provided expert and empathetic care and advice that helped keep him safe and healthy. Then on April 3, 2024 Rex was severely mauled by a Doberman and his life hung in the balance. Dr. Rhonda Buxton, who was a recent addition to the Companion staff, immediately took charge of the situation. As Rex battled for his life, Dr. Buxton and the staff repeatedly worked on keeping him alive, comfortable, and stable in his recovery. When he took a turn for the worse and we made the difficult decision that it was time to lovingly say goodbye, Dr. Buxton helped ease him out of his pain. With my wife Nancy and I in attendance, we said our goodbyes to the little guy. Throughout the whole experience, the staff at Companion Animal Clinic was exceptionally empathetic and professional, making that period more bearable for Nancy and me. We can't recommend Companion Animal Care highly enough. Lee Hefner Nancy Wasson

If you care about your baby don't take them here! I saw Dr. Woods for a mass that had come up on my…read moreboys rear leg along with scabs that flare up all over his stomach. He examined him without running any tests on him at all, and told me the mass was just a swollen lymph node on his back leg. He looked at the scabs on him and told me they were "ant bites" and that the "swollen lymph node" was probably due to the ant bites. He sent me home without having anything done to further examine the mass. I felt like something wasn't right after about a week when it had increased in size, so I went to get a second opinion at another vet. They immediately did an aspirate of the mass and told me that it was a mast cell tumor! It has since increased in size in such a short amount of time, and he is currently scheduled to have his leg amputated because of it! I have since switched his food to raw which has completely cleared up the skin issues he was having. This doctor does not care about your babies and only cares about trying to push Science Diet on you at every visit. I have heard from SEVERAL sources that he doesn't like to diagnose "pink elephants."

The doctor has been…read moregreat about explaining everything he's doing and checking for and letting me know what I can watch out for at home to make sure my dogs stay healthy. I always hate that it's hard to find prices for things online anywhere so here's what I've paid there for a female lab mix that's about 40 pounds and a male yorkie that's about 8 pounds. They also gave me an estimate for getting them fixed before I ever had to make an appointment and they let me know if I wanted to wait a month, they were doing a discount. Exam for worms - male yorkie - $27 Worm medicine - male yorkie - $4 Annual exam - $50 each 3 year rabies vaccine for female lab - $34 Heartworm test - $43 each 1 year rabies for male yorkie - $20 These prices may be different depending on a number of different factors, but it should at least give an idea. To get my dogs fixed with a 10% discount, included pain medicine and blood work, about $200 for my male yorkie and about $300 for my female lab mix. I was told about all the costs up front before I ever made an appointment. The doctor called to let me know when each procedure was done and how they were doing. The office also called me the next day to check on them.

This last time I'm not sure she was even bathed and shedding hair everywhere. She was to spend the whole day but got a call to pick her up because she was stressed.Never saw her stressed. Was told it was because of the weather and the other dogs were stressed as well and causing trouble? Said one of the dogs liked to bite feet. Was told our dog tried to climb over a small fence.very thin wires on fence. When we got home she was limping and the ped on one of her toes was hanging. Took her to vet $97. Called to say Maybe the fence was not safe and got an ear full. Said they never said she tried to climb over fence, both my husband and I heard this. Said they would send a recording of our conversation but never received it. Would not recommend this place with their attitude. Our dog has been to day care many times at our usual place in another state. We are in this area often and thought we had found a good place for her but not.
