Came here today based on Yelp reviews and all you Yelpers came through again! Yum! First, I skimmed over the reviews before I arrived and didn't notice that this is primarily a take out place. So, for my laziness, I am sitting at the restaurant's one sad little table. Eat Rice is a take out place to the point where there isn't even hot tea. Only cold drinks, oh well! I had the General Tso's lunch special and an order of Crab Rangoon. I'm picky about both of those items and both at Eat Rice were super good! The Crab Rangoon was hot and gooey. The General Tso's wasn't very spicy but it was very good. The lunch special comes with white or fried rice and soup. I had the hot and sour soup and I ate every drop! With a drink, my total (for a ton of food!) was less than $10. I agree with a prior review that I think they'd get more business with a better name and a better location. That being said, they must be doing pretty well because the owner was predicting the orders of obvious regulars as they walked in the door. I'll be back here for sure! read more

Make sure you have an hour or possibly longer to wait. They're gonna tell you 30 to 35 minutes but that will be far feom the truth. We didnt even place a big order! I saw the young man put up our order next to the rest and we were 4th. After spending 30min looking at funkopops we got to sit for another 30 mon watching people order and leave with their food. I can't believe how good the food is and how reasonable the prices are. This immediately became my go to place for really excellent Chinese food. I tried it a couple times and they continue to impress. Had lunch special recently.... everything was great... and the Hot and Sour soup came in a huge quantity for a lunch special order. Good thing it did.... it was really good and I'm fussy about my H&S soup. Fried rice included not the best... but imagine ordered Fried Rice seperate is great. However, the young person taking to-go orders needs to make sure your whole order is in there before stapling the bag shut, twice we've gotten home and not had everything. Also asks for your name and if he can't pronounce it, even after you spell it to him he just tells you your name is Nancy and puts the order under this name and doesn't ask for a callback number? Sometimes someone else answers and doesn't ask for a name, no phone number, no nothing, very odd. read more

My husband and I came here because we drive by it all the time when we are in the area. There isn't much space to sit down and it is obvious that it is a take out place - which is fine with me. We ordered Singapore noodles, fried rice and tofu (can't remember exactly what it was called). The order was prepared fairly quickly so I can't complain about that. When we got home and tasted the food, I was pleasantly surprised that it was all very good (I am particularly picky about Chinese food) - I would definitely go back again if I feel like driving from Bay View to the Greenfield area. read more

I have to agree with Pamela on this one - I've tried countless Chinese places from Greendale to Lake Geneva and this place, which I tried on a whim, is the best Chinese food I've had in Milwaukee. Side Notes - I was psyched to see that they had Cantonese style fried shrimp (circular and batter dipped), something that seems to be lacking in most Wisconsin Chinese places, oddly enough. In addition to that, I was also pleased to see their boneless spareribs were freshly cooked and not drowned in sauce with enough sugar to send an elephant into diabetic shock - as is all too common in Chinese places around here. Its definitely a take out place, although they have some limited seating. The woman that runs the place is always very pleasant and her kids (which are there quite often) are well behaved and respectful. read more

This is my go to Chinese place in Milwaukee. Frankly I haven't found any sit down Chinese places that I love. Pretty basic menu, all your basic Chinese American dishes. I like their soups especially the egg drop with wontons. I also enjoy their pan fried dumplings. They actually consist of actually meat and the sear on the dumplings is perfect each time I order it. Orders always take less than 20 mins and its always piping hot. Great prices as well. The lunches are a steal! read more

I found this restaurant online before traveling to the area on business. What a great find! I walked in and ordered Kung Pao Shrimp and steamed dumplings, to go. My dinner was ready in 10 minutes, and was a good value ($15.00). KP Shrimp was huge. HUGE. Plenty of peanuts on top, chopped vegetables were crunchy and plentiful. Sauce could've been a touch spicier but was very good nonetheless. The amount of large shrimp was generous and not overcooked - not rubbery. The steamed dumplings were flavorful and large. Wonton was a little thick, but since they were steamed they were nice and soft, not greasy. Again, I'll be back the next time I'm in town! read more

I recently had dinner to go. I phoned in the order and the wait time was 10-15 minutes (not too shabby). We ordered beef chow mein, vegetable egg foo yung, and broccoli with garlic sauce. The chow mein is really delicious, but instead of chow mein noodles from a bag, they freshly fry up wonton strips. The vegetable egg foo yung is still some of the best I have ever eaten. The egg is light and fluffy and the vegetables are super fresh. The gravy reminds me of THE gravy that another local Chinese restaurant used to serve on their rice. In case you are wondering, you can actually order gravy on the side. I have to be nuts to recommend that people pour gravy on their rice, but once you try it, you will believe! The surprise hero of the meal, was the broccoli with garlic sauce. If you're feeling guilty about the rangoons or the carb count of white rice, order the broccoli. The broccoli is bright green and still a bit crispy. It is covered in a rich, slightly sweet soy based sauce, with a kiss of garlic. I filled up on broccoli instead of the sweet donuts that we ordered, and I felt great! I'm glad this place is still focused on quality! read more

Prior to discovering them 2 years ago, I had given up hope of finding a restaurant that could consistently deliver Mainland style Chinese cuisine - regardless of price. Having lived in Hong Kong and visited Mainland China, I've had the absolute best Chinese food possible; Eat Rice does a damn good job of approximating some of the best eats I've ever had. I love HOT food, I need HOT food, and Eat Rice makes me HOT food! No other restaurant locally would even put forth the effort to try to make my order spicy the way I like it, let alone provide such large portions at such excellent prices. Recently I had the opportunity to spend two afternoons in the kitchen of Eat Rice; being French trained I was wholly out of my depth in a Chinese kitchen, but that does not mean I wasn't able to appreciate and admire the incredible skill and phenomenal hard work of Lin (the Chef) and Sherry (his Sous and spouse); I was, for lack of a better word, amazed and humbled by their skill and attention to the slightest detail. We ordered crab rangoon, beef chow mein, pork egg foo young, and lemon chicken. Crab rangoon was very sweet for some reason and we didn't even use the watery, red 'sweet & sour' stuff that was packed with it. Beef chow mein had fatty beef. Fully half of the dish was onions and celery (someone's comments here even said they DON'T use too much celery - you lied!) and then there was some limp shreds of green veggie that I assume was bok choy. Blech. Two bites and I was done. Egg foo young was overcooked and salty. The lemon chicken had weak lemon taste to the sauce and just like the rest of everything, the chicken was overcooked and dry. This place needs to change its deep fryer oil more often. The time quoted to us for pickup was 30-40 minutes and it hit their counter 62 minutes after I placed the order. The only reason I would give this place one star is the prices are cheap. But if you don't eat what you pay for, then . . . not so cheap after all. read more

This is our Chinese take out place. I feel confident ordering anything from the menu, as we have never been disappointed. I do like that everything is made to order right in front of your face. I have seen it pretty busy sometimes and man, those wok chefs do hustle! Our favorites are Singapore noodle (just a kiss of curry), pot stickers, egg foo young, and sweet & sour pork (although we really do not use the sauce), and egg rolls. Try the Sesame Donuts - they are a dessert type item on the app menu - very yummy! The serving sizes are ample and I think you pay a fair price for what you get. You could certainly feed two people with one entree. (But we are from WI, so we don't do that ;P) Eat Rice does a brisk business, so you may have to wait a bit for your order if you do not call ahead. Remember to grab your own utensils and sauces on the table to the side, they do not automatically put them in your bag. I like that it reduces waste or you can grab more if you are a saucy kind of person. If Chinese take out is what you want, you will not be let down. read more

I really wanted to like this place. I'd go 3 1/2 stars of I knew how. The food was very tasty -I had Hunan chicken. The veggies were cooked but still a little crispy. Not as crispy as I like but still had a little crunch. The staff is attentive and helpful. It is great to see a family place here in chain store land. But I do have to add my chicken was rubbery a little. Had a strange texture when chewing. It took away from an otherwise tasteful and flavorful dish. I watched order after order being wrong, the cook comes out in flip flops to ask if chicken was okay as they ran out of shrimp for rice. took almost an hour. they need to HIRE help instead of her kids if they can't do the front end. This is our second time eating at Eat Rice. Food continues to be delicious, but we had to wait for over an hour for our carry out. The person I spoke with on the phone told us that it would only be 30 minutes, but it was more like an hour. When we ordered from there the first time, we had a similar experience with the wait time. I understand if you're busy being a Saturday night, but they need to give a more realistic estimate on time so I don't have to wait there for 20 minutes for my food. We live very close to and this is our go to Chinese restaurant. The food is great but can take a little while to cook depending on the time of day. One time I came when the order was suppose to be done but when I arrived learned they hadn't cooked it yet.
