Eat Rice is my family's go to Chinese take out restaurant. They opened shortly after we moved into the neighborhood, and we have NEVER had a bad experience. We eat here once a month on average, and it's always done quickly and deliciously. My wife and kids (7 and 4) always share the Sweet & Sour Chicken combination plate. I normally get the Sesame Chicken or the Orange Chicken, though I have tried many other items. We also get some Chicken Lo Mein and Crab Rangoon as our sides. Our bill is on average $25 or so, which is a deal for a family of 4. I love how it's a very simple establishment with just a couple chairs and a table. They focus on the food and don't worry about ambience, which I really enjoy. If you're looking for some great Chinese food for a weeknight or a date night, Eat Rice is definitely worth a try! read more

We have take outs from there on a regular basis since the first time we tried them. The lunch specials and combo dinners are hard to beat for price and more importantly taste. The thing I like most is it's consistency. It's always the same woman (or her intelligent & pleasant daughter) at the counter and the same gentleman cooking up great dishes, in plain view, at the wok. Stopped in after seeing an article in the Greendale Patch about the place. My favorite take-out Chinese restaurant lately is attached to a gas station, so how can I not love take out Chinese in a strip mall. I went on a rare Saturday when I didn't have any plans other than to hang out at home with my pups and a good book. It was about 6pm when I got there. Sad to say it wasn't busy, and the owner even mentioned that it was a really slow day. Can only hope it was because there was a Brewers game on or something. I ordered the Crab Rangoon and Orange Chicken. She suggested a smaller combination plate which included Chicken Fried Rice and an egg roll rather than a bigger order of Orange Chicken and plain white rice. I always appreciate when a business is willing to down sell because they know it will make me happier, rather than just taking all of my money. The owner and I chatted about how I found the place while I waited for my food. She was extremely friendly. Always good to see in a new business owner. When I got home with my food I was pleased to see that my Orange Chicken and Chicken Fried Rice all came in one container that was easy to eat from. It is always a hassle to take all of the little white boxes out of the box and have to mess up dishes, when the reason I am getting take out is for the convenience. Food was really good. Like Brad said, the sauce was very flavorful and just right. Not too thick and not too thin. The chicken seemed to be good quality chicken too! The Crab Rangoon was fried to perfection. No one should be expected to not eat an entire order of this Crab Rangoon, no matter how many pieces are in it. I would highly recommend Eat Rice! I will certainly be going back!! read more

This has become our go to Chinese place for good reason. The food is always delicious and real vegetables are used! Not canned, mushy, teeny tiny veggies! I love the chicken lo mien and beef with mixed vegetables, but I've never tried something here that I didn't like. It's a family owned operation and occasionally you'll see the kids in back. Went tonight without ordering ahead of time. Ordered a quart of beef and snow peas and a pint of chicken with cashews. With fried won tons. The fried won tons actually had meat in them, not just a couple of specs but actual meat. The cashew chicken had a nice mix of veges and good amount of cashews. My daughter who is normally a picky eater had a seconds. My son and I split the beef with snow peas. It was very good amount of beef and had some sliced water chestnuts along with carrots. Chinese food is my absolute favorite!!! I' m always searching for a great place & I'm excited to say my search is over!!! The Crab Rangoon is the best.....stuffed with filling, unlike other places that have a pea-sized amount in the middle ( I think that's called a won-ton) :). The sesame chicken is amazing as well, big pieces of chicken, not just breading covered in sauce like many places. The egg foo young is unbelieveably fresh too, lots of veggies and is packed separate from the gravy so it's not soggy when you get it home. DID NOT care for my new found Chinese take out place. I have a favorite Chinese place, but thought , Great , Eat Rice is closer to home.....got to try it......well this was a mistake, I have enjoyed Chinese food since I was very young, so I believe I know what flavors I am looking for and true American/Chinese recipes. I also realise many so called Chinese restaurants and food chains modified the recipes.....example: adding peas and carrots to my favorite Fried Rice, which is not fried, but boiled short white rice with a lite coating of tasteless brown sauce. This is how Eat Rice serves their Fried Rice. My second choice ordered, Egg Foo Young......3 patties ....all burned on one side, gravy served on the side, did not care for the flavor of this gravy, never had this flavor before and the burned flavor of the EFY overpowered my taste buds. With my taste buds all out of line, the shrimp Egg Roll that I also ordered tasted like spoiled shrimp. Well that will teach me not to bargain convenience with good tasting fresh food ( recipes) One last comment : I relise many food customers have never tasted what I call Real Chinese food ( take out or eat in ) so If they are satisfied with what they receive , good for them and enjoy, but I well stick to my 2 favorite, authentic ( American) Chinese places. read more

I can sum it up in one sentence: great food. I asked them to make some of the items a little spicy and they dutifully complied. The food tasted excellent compared to food at any other chinese place. The ingredients smelled fresh. When I came to pick up the order, it was ready at the promised time. To my surprise, they have a couple of sauces and fortune cookies on the side table and you can help yourself to them. The only negative--in my opinion, the prices are a bit on the higher side for the quantity of food you get. When I mentioned this to the lady at the counter and asked why they did not have coupons for large orders (more than $20), she said she thought they offer the cheapest prices in the area--I do not agree with this.Overall, a chinese take out place that I would not hesitate to order from again. read more

My husband and I wanted to do something different for Valentine's Day and we don't often get Chinese, and so after trolling the internet for reviews (yelp included, thank you to the three previous reviewers!) we decided that Eat Rice was our destination. It was delicious. I had the Home Style Bean Curd and my fellow had the Cashew Shrimp. We agreed that the vegetables were fresh, everything was cooked perfectly, and that the containers were handy for left overs. This impressed us, as we had such generous portions that we will definitely be having ours for lunch tomorrow. We only had to wait a short time, even though there were always a few other customers in the waiting area with us and the woman who helped us was wonderful and explained the differences between a few different dishes. Also, when we peeked back into the kitchen it was very clean. We were very impressed and are excited for our future trips to Eat Rice :) read more

My daughter and I decided to try something other than a "chain" restaurant on a recent Friday night, and Eat Rice was our choice. Our plan was to eat "in" the restaurant and did not realize until we got there that it is really a carry out place with just one table for four in the corner. Well, we ordered our food and decided to dine in anyway! The food was presented on nice plates (not styrofoam), but we had to use the plastic tableware, which was an obstacle for cutting the chicken. The only other negative worth mentioning was the fact that the door opened and closed a lot due to it being a busy night, letting in lots of cold air as we dined. However, it was our choice to stay and we enjoyed our food nonetheless. I ordered a shrimp egg foo yung combo plate, which included two patties, a huge serving of pork fried rice, and a full sized egg roll. On the side was a small bowl of piping hot gravy for my patties. All this for less than $8!! My daughter had chicken with brocolli and white rice. The dish was prepared in a tasty sauce not found in other Chinese establishments. I will definitely get food from Eat Rice again...but I'll take it home to enjoy!! read more
