He came over right away to check out some electrical issues that arose in my home inspection, mostly issues with non-grounded outlets (or non-working ones), exposed wiring, and no GFCIs where there should have been. The former owners of this house also had some funky-ass spotlight setup in the corner of the backyard, but it wasn't connected to any circuit...instead it required a 50+' extension cord just to work. That's all I needed, for my drunk friends to trip on that during BBQs or something. Eaton Electric came out to do a job and then sent a proposal of $286.13 to install a TV outdoors and fix a light as stated in proposal. Two electricians show up and they charged me for 2 electricians @ $95 an hour EACH = $380 plus parts and hand over a bill for $420.00 They did EXACTLY what was discussed and sent in proposal - nothing more - nothing less. This is just NOT OK! What is the use of sending a proposal if you not going to stick to it?? read more

Eaton Electric was prompt and efficient, once we were finally able to get a hold of them. I don't know if we're high maintenance or what, but it seemed like we had to call at least three times in order to get a call back for scheduling (first for the estimate, then for the actual work.) We were on a tight deadline as the work needed to be done prior to move in, so that may have had something to do with it. That being said, Tom and his team were always on time, which is something that doesn't seem to happen with other contractors in our experience, so that's a huge plus. The pricing was reasonable for the work (installing fans, tv mounts, etc.) and they were upfront about the fact they don't do the drywall replacement (if necessary.) They also provided information on a provider that would follow behind them to fix that all up, which we appreciated since we're still pretty green in regard to home maintenance. They also didn't do any additional work without first checking with us and notifying of any potential price differences from the quotes. Overall, we'd use Tom and Eaton Electric again for our electrical repair/upgrade needs. read more

Knowledgeable and priced fairly. Eaton isn't out to make a quick buck. As an owner of several properties, I came to Tom with a complex problem resulting from a splice the previous owner did on the main line to a condo. This self declared handyman left the wire exposed and it was a definite safety hazard. Tom's team came in and installed a new junction box with a proper transition as well as taking care of a couple other small jobs within the same timeframe. They even took actions to improve the cosmetics around the work. It's difficult to find skilled tradesmen that aren't out to take advantage of their customers. Tom and his team are the exception. We've used Tom for a few jobs across two homes, both condos, and one about 20 minutes out of downtown. They're always on time. Tom himself shows up for the visit and makes sure his guys are all set before he moves on to the next thing. His guys are knowledgeable and can usually think outside the (electrical) box if they need to, but they also have no problem calling Tom if they need his judgment. (I don't care if they know everything. I care that they do it right.) Out of all the vendors (electrical or otherwise), Eaton is the one that we *never* have to look back later and ask why they did something abnormal or screwed it up by cutting corners. After unsuccessfully dealing with another unreliable Electrician for several months, I'd finally had enough. Recently had Eaton Electric out to service my residence, as I had a few outlets and several overhead lights that were out of commission. Upon speaking with Tom, we were able to set up a next day appointment to check out my issues. Eaton set a short two hour arrival window and actually showed up 15 minutes early. Seeing as I had set the beginning of my appointment window at the exact time I would be home, I had yet to arrive when Eaton called and said they were outside. I explained to the gentleman that I was on my way and that I would be there shortly. Rather than bail to the next job, as my previous Electrician did when he showed up 45 minutes early, Eaton's guys waited patiently. A brand new home and the electric is already shock. The company was supposed to hold high quality certifications that were required for my home build. I needed it done quickly while still needing it done as professionally as possible. I was told it would not be any problem to have it done by this deadline. When I turned my switch on for the first time sparks went crazy. New walls new paint ruined. My wife and I had a horrible experience with Tom and Eaton Electric and what was supposed to be a quick 400 dollar job turned into being charged 650 and than we needed to find another contractor and paid him 500 to fix the mess Eaton Electric left behind. Also would have been nice if they communicated w my wife that took the day off work before ripping out large pieces of drywall. Left the job with huge holes in our kitchen. I was concerned about the location of the wall switch and Tom made a great recommendation to install a set of Lutron wall switches that allow wireless connectivity so that I can have the wall switches placed anywhere. Worse job I've seen done by any contractor. Left massive holes in the drywall to simply lower a couple of outlets 2 inches down. Initially charged us $250 more than what was quoted $95/hr is what they will tell you and then 2 guys will show up and what they don't tell you is its $95/hr each. Didn't come w the right equipment and didn't communicate w my wife about anything. They made her go a block up for a $2 eye hook to hang a light. When leaving she was shocked that they left it in the way they did. They did a good job hanging a light fixture - however we had to spend an additional $500 to fix the mess in the kitchen that left after charging us $650. We ended up settling for $400 after quite the phone battle. Tom and his crew are quirky to say the least and go about their business making big changes to the initial plan without communicating anything to the home owner. We were in a bind to finish our project. Multiple calls placed to highly rated electricians on yelp yielded very little results. Beck and Roberts both did not follow through with their promises to at least come by to check out the project. Then we called Tom. He not only listened diligently to our dilemma, but he informed us when he will be by the job site to review our dilemma and informed us when he will be available to be on site again to remedy the problem. He then proceeded to show up when he said he would and again, show up to work on the problem when he said he would. This type of character is extremely hard to find in any profession.
