Chris and his employee John knocked out numerous electrical projects for us in 2.5 days! They were on time, efficient, clean work/cleaned up after each project, competent/skilled electricians and with competitive pricing. We had our a panel upgraded/serviced. He put in a new outdoor outlet and rewire 2 indoor outlets that were on overloaded circuits on to separate circuits, run wiring and install of EV car charger clear on other side of house(having to climb in our tiny attic) and installing 4 can lights in our living room and swap out a couple light switches for us that I had already purchased and had not gotten around to installing. Chris Bailey was very nice and knowledgeable when he came out to give us an estimate. However, things did not end well with work that principally involved the install of an ET2 Pendant light over the kitchen table. Chris called several days beforehand and said his back was acting up so on the install day he may not be available but his assistants would handle it. He was ultimately able to stop by briefly during the day. On the day of the install his two crew members showed up on time and began work. The junior member inexplicably was the one doing the most important work: hanging the expensive and fragile pendent light. I saw him unpacking the light and when I returned to the kitchen later it was up and installed with the power cable straight and tight. The instructions, which I left on the kitchen table, depicted the cable as corkscrewing around the support lines. So when I asked him to loosen the cable to conform to the diagram (and the way it is featured in all of the photos and depictions) he eventually fessed up that he had cut the cable (because of some ridiculous excuse he came up with) and we didn't have enough length to loosen it to achieve the look I wanted. Since it didn't look any good the way he had the cable draped, I told him to tighten it back up again like he had it originally. I later looked at the discarded parts in the trash bin and found he had cut 8' of insulation from the cable's length and there were multiple abraded sections. I called ET2 and they said there was no way to replace the cable and they did not recommend or support such a course of action. It would invalidate the warranty. I related this to Chris later that day and he said he'd find out about replacing the cable (he could rewire a similar replacement cable himself if need be) as well as talk to his team. He came out a few days later but had no replacement cable or solutions other than pulling it out to the maximum length available and said that his team thought it was my fault this had happened because they claimed I had actually told them to cut it short. Chris additionally suggested I really should have been monitoring them more closely. So he believed his team who were clearly motivated to cover their bungled install over me, the client. I hired them after all to install the light correctly, which means not cutting the power cable or limiting my options for how I want to run the power cable now or in the future. Considering that I paid them $120 per hour, I would expect things to be handled professionally and with absolutely no on-the-job-training. I could go on about aspects of other work that was done that day but this is the main issue that prompts this review. I do not recommend and would not use them again. read more

Chris not only came to do a requested job but offered to fine tune a few things that he saw around my house that I had not considered. He gave me great suggestions about lighting that turned out wonderfully. He has always been right in time, is efficient and fastidious in his work. His fee is more than reasonable. He also has the brightest, happiest personality of anyone who has ever worked on my house and he and his wonderful apprentice John were a bright spot in the days they have worked here. I called Chris to check out my kitchen circuit since I had heard that he had experience fixing electrical problems in several units in my condo complex. Chris never came out, but he sent 2 other guys instead who changed out a circuit breaker to repair the problem. I was surprised that the bill was $168.35 which included a $150 charge for the visit. When I asked Chris about this he said that $150 is the MINIMUM charge that he charges for any service call. The guys were in my place for less than 10 minutes and replaced a circuit breaker that was $16.99 so I feel like the $150 was a bit excessive. If you call him, be forewarned that you will be charged $150 just for the visit. read more

Not only did Chris and his team do an exceptional job, they were prompt, professional, courteous, and above all, the pricing was more than fair. West Coast Electric Solutions has completed numerous remodel projects for me and I would highly recommend them. His hourly rate is more than fair and comparable to other electrical contractors at his level. Remember that when you hire a contractor for a general service call you are paying for their travel time, their experience in tracking down the problem in a timely manner, their insurance cost, licensing costs, travel expense, truck, tools, etc. If you are charged the minimum amount for a service call ($150) then you should walk away knowing that it was money well spent. I have had other electrical contractors spend hours trying to find problems that Chris and his team found in minutes. On more than one occasion Chris and his team had the extra parts necessary to do the repair on their truck, thus avoiding the cost of traveling to the supply house. read more
