We bought a 99-year old Craftsman that was completed outdated, ungrounded, had exposed wires everywhere; just a mess. After talking to another company that supposedly specialized in older homes, they wanted $500 up front just to do a detailed inspection to tell us what was needed to bring the electricals up to code. They asked this and that, when they should be taking the bull by the horns and knowing or figuring it out! Thankfully, we came across Emerald Pacific Electric. Chris and his team were superb: easy to communicate with, understood exactly what was needed, and suggested thoughtful avenues that we didn't even think of, such as what future needs of the house if we were to expand it, and burying the old unsightly overhead wires to go underground. His team was very respectful, hard working, put in all the outlets I would ever want, installed high quality lights and fans-- the works! Late one night we turned on a rolling air conditioner while our house fan was on and blew a breaker. Or at least that's what we thought happened but after flipping the breaker back on some outlets still no longer worked. Worse? We had an electrical smoke smell in the house! Chris was at our home within hours of our call and had us fixed up super quickly. This included: * Diagnosis and replacement of GFCI outlet * Reworked old sub-panel to fix dropped neutral * Diagnosis and replacement of another outlet * Reworked ANOTHER sub-panel to find ANOTHER dropped neutral * Replaced missing metal faceplate All of this was done in ~2 hours, he had all necessary parts at the ready, and left everything spotless! I've been ripped off by two other electricians so this was a pleasant surprise for me. Super nice, would recommend if you need someone for electrical work. We had extensive rewiring, new breaker box installation (relocated to code), and had all old outlets/switches throughout the property upgraded/grounded. Awesome electricians. We had them show up to install a fan in a tricky situation. Without much heads up, they showed up same day, installed the fan, and fixed a suicide switch. A GFCI outlet in my kitchen blew. I hired Emerald Pacific Electric to install a 240v / 50-amp outlet in my kitchen, to make way for a brand new flat-top GE oven from Home Depot. I called and spoke to Chris (very nice, professional, and down to earth guy!) and we scheduled him to come to my apartment at 10:00am on May 1st, 2014. My apartment is 30+ years old (as was my old oven!), and the old oven itself was hard-wired to the wall (via a crusty cable coming out of the wall and plugged into the back of the oven). This old, hard-wired configuration is out-dated and not "up to code" for the installation any new, modern oven. On the date of our scheduled appointment, Chris called me about 45min prior and asked if he could come early. I told him "absolutely" (early is always good)! Chris arrived, and within an hour, he had the old cable trimmed down to the wall (fortunately the cable's internal wiring was well shielded and fully intact), and attached and installed it into a clean, fresh new outlet! What I really appreciated is Chris' level of precision. When he went outside to grab an additional tool item (about halfway into the job), I took a peek at his project. Chris had installed a brand new inside-of-the-wall square enclosure for the outlet to reside in and protect it from any surrounding interference (prior to connecting the wires). That level of detail right there showed me someone who takes their craft very seriously and does their very best during even the smallest of jobs. Chris also cleaned up his work area tidily and immaculately once the outlet was fully installed. In fact the area was cleaner than I had left it before Chris even arrived! Oh and did I mention that the new oven performs like a rockstar? That's 50-amps of pure cookin' kapow, baby! Thanks so much for doing such an awesome job, Chris! Back in May we had a circuit go that affected half our house including our fridge. We had tried to reset it a few times with no luck. I called Emerald Pacific and left a message explaining the issue and noted that we had some urgency in getting someone out since we had family coming into town. Chris called back right away and fit us in the very next day! He came out and to my embarrassment was able to reset the circuit with no issue! Oops. He told us to call again if we had a repeat and to just leave everything as is. He was nice enough not to charge us even though I am sure it interfered with his scheduling that day! Luck would have it that it happened again later that night. I called Chris and again he fit us in that next day. He was able to debug the issue and put in a fix. He took the time to talk to me about our old cabling and any different options for upgrading if we continued to have issues. Chris was personable, efficient and knows what he is doing! I called about a fluorescent kitchen light that was flickering off, and he explained that it probably just needed a new ballast (since the fixture had power), and he said it would be around $100 to fix. We scheduled the appointment a couple days in advance for Saturday at 8:30am, and he arrived promptly. He removed and replaced the T-12 lamp 40 watt ballast for $109 total. We had a few outlets in our kitchen stop working so I called early in the morning and got a call back within a couple hours and was able to schedule an appointment that afternoon, so the response time was nice. I was away when it happened (brother was home), but apparently all that was needed was to press a reset switch on one of the outlets. My bad for calling an electrician for something so trivial, sure, but we were billed $134 for the service. Since the website says "Free Estimates" and "No Call Out Charge", I'm guessing the full $134 was for pressing the button. 2 stars for the fast response times and actually fixing the problem, but 3 off for charging so much. read more

We recently bought an old home powered, in part, by extension cords running across the attic and with multiple electrical violations in the attic and main and sub panels as noted by the inspectors. We got multiple estimates from well-reviewed electricians, but the most thorough investigation and estimate came from Mark Hegarty at Emerald Pacific Electric. He saw all the problems and seemed to think the solutions could be easily accomplished in a day's time. I appreciated his explanations and his confidence. We scheduled Emerald Pacific to do the work and Mark and Sean arrived on the appointed day and time with everything they needed to get the job done. I called Emerald Pacific because I was cutting my drywall and happened to cut a wire in the wall. Chris answered and even suggested I send him pictures of the wire so he can confirm it was an electrical wire. He even offered me some tips to determine if the wire was live.
