We are in the boat club (grandfathered in from when we first joined the membership 4 or 5 years ago and it was owned by a different company). My observation: * The staff ranges from very sweet and accommodating to rude and snobby. * They validate parking if you park in the nearby structure (just a couple of dollars off but it's better than nothing). * The ropes they provide are very short to tie off * Amazing location next to Nobu and other delicious restaurants. You can also dock at The Cannery, The Dock, Shorebird, etc. In short, I love having this Duffy membership. It's expensive but I love the convenience of not owning our own boat. read more

Came here again in May (I believe). This is my 3rd time coming here, another with a different group. Since being my 3rd time I figured no need for insurance...boy was I wrong! All was well until there were so many windsurfers going by and I had to stop the boats engine but then bumped into a pole (thankfully not the surfers or a boat!). In the front of the boat is a ring, that is what got dinged by the bump. It bent to the side but not even by a lot, but I totally understand they have to keep their boats on good condition. The original charge was pretty hefty and due to their understanding they brought it down but still was pretty hefty, but I appreciate the adjustment (after the adjustment it came out to be an additional $700+ for the damage, give or take I believe). I've kayaked around Lido and Balboa Islands and will certainly do that again, but when I'm feeling fancy and shopping the Lido Village, I am not dressed for paddling... I would highly recommend renting an electric duffy boat from here! It was so fun for our group of 6 girls and it was even better having an all pink boat. We did a two hour rental which was the perfect amount of time to make it around the harbor. Even with no experience with driving these types of boats, we were able to figure it out easily. It's also nice to be able to connect your phone via Bluetooth to the speakers on the boat so you can play your own music. You can also bring your own food and drinks. If you're prone to motion sickness, there were only a few moments where the boat got a little rocky. Overall this was a great experience! read more

Thank you EBRentals for a birthday to remember! I moved to Costa Mesa from the Bay Area approximately two years ago and been wanting to celebrate my birthday in Newport Beach. Some of my closest friends traveled near & far just to spend my special day with me and let me tell you... this idea was one of the best decisions I've ever made when it comes to celebrating my birthday! The staff was friendly and helpful! When it came to booking, I entered my phone number online and Mariah reached out to me via text message immediately and was super communicative! She was persistent and mentioned that I would get a better deal buying the 10hr package versus purchasing two boats. I ended up getting a third boat and splitting all three boats by 3hrs with 1hr remaining. Upon boarding, you are given instructions and I thought the staff that led it was very clear and informative. Docking was also easy. There was multiple staff members present to help dock our boats and were super friendly about cleaning up, etc. My birthday theme this year was pink (without any knowledge about the Barbie movie coming out) and EBRentals did not disappoint on hitting my pink theme! They did an amazing job at catering to my pink needs. I was able to select a hot pink boat and option to choose a pink balloon garland as well! I also hired Adam & Eve Events and spoke to Gulshan about decorating prior to boarding. Gulshan hung roses, did a beautiful table display, made us a charcuterie and fruit plate, along with an ice bucket for our drinks and beverages. They were pretty relaxed about BYOB on board. Overall, we had a SUPER FUN experience. All of my friends loved it! -- 10/10 I would do this again. It's def a great idea for a romantic date, girls outing, family day, or even getting the guys together to sail around for a couple hour. Talk about Summer vibes! I still have 1hr remaining and will probably buy more time to the duration because this was honestly one of my new favorite experiences and 3hrs on the water was perfect. Such a great experience! My friends and I rent a boat for my birthday on Friday. It's located at Lido Marina and you can circle around the bay (around 2 hours). The check in was super easy and all the workers were friendly and helpful. I was a bit worried since I get terrible motion sickness but the waters were very calm and the entire boat ride was so peaceful! Our reservation was at 6pm so we got to see the sunset on the water. The boat was fairly easy to drive but the map was a bit confusing to navigate. We got the model FT for the boat. It looked brand new and the seats were comfy and the boat was spacious. There's a bluetooth speaker on the boat so we were able to enjoy music. One downside is the parking. It's hard to find a spot, despite there being a parking structure. They validate parking for 2 hour though so that's a plus. Overall, I had an amazing time for my birthday! Would highly recommend this experience. read more

I have not set sail on an electric duffy boat before, so I was SUPER excited to try it out with me and my friends. I did not know what to expect, but the entire process--from booking online to getting off the boat-- was smooth sailing... ;) We got the Ferrari boat which was super clean! It was a pleasant surprise to see that there was a speaker built in the boat with a Bluetooth connect! I brought my little JBL speaker thinking that I was going to use it but I didn't have to. Music is super important in creating the *vibes* for me, so having that was amazing. The boat can fit up to 10 people but my group had a total of 8. A little wiggle room is nice for me personally, but I don't see having 10 people on the boat being a problem. The boat is pretty darn sturdy and roomy. The table in the middle also had cup holders for your drinks which was a nice and helpful touch! I can tell that these boats were intentionally designed. Riding around the harbor was a beautiful experience. We even spotted some flying fish and a cute little seal! It felt like we were giving ourselves a tour of Newport by our own means since the boat is self-captained- a few of us got a shot at driving the boat which was pretty tricky for me lol but came more naturally to others..aka the boys. lol Overall, it was a lovely experience and I highly recommend Vision Boat Electric to everyone! read more

Hard to beat this place... they've got great boats and you show up and hop on, then when you're done, you hop off. The staff is friendly and helpful - and they validate parking for 2 hrs if you park in the structure. We booked for two hrs, and in that time you can go around Balboa Island AND Lifo Island. Perfect little cruise! The boats have Bluetooth, so you can have your tunes while on the water. The only thing I would be careful of is the size cooler your bring. We had a big group and had a full size cooler, but it didn't really fit anywhere. I'd recommend smaller drink coolers or the styrofoam ones. read more

I have to say customer service here is wonderful! They do really put customers first in a very respectful manner! For early Mother's Day celebration and birthdays, we thought it would be nice to take in some nice views of Newport--what a better way to celebrate than driving a boat out and cruise! We put in a special request to do all the paperwork outdoors to be safer from Covid and they were very accommodating. They are very courteous in sharing directions of driving the boat, glad to put on masks when requested, helpful during boat parking--this is the scariest part for me. They do offer insurance if you want a peace of mind. Their boats are definitely a lot nicer than the Duffy boats offered by other companies in the area. They look a lot newer and sleeker. My mom thought the surrounding boarding area looks nicer too. The red boat is much slower than the brown boats so I'd definitely recommend the brown boats if you prefer more speed. Make sure to pay attention on navigating with the map they gave you. For some reason, I thought we were on the other side of the Balboa Island and was looking for the "right turn" to loop around Balboa Island, but the "right turn" area never showed up. We were passing by unloading cargo ships, and that's when I realize we were definitely going the wrong way and passed the area where we were not supposed be at--- if we kept going, we would have exited the channel and that would be so scary! The boats are equipped with blue tooth so it's nice to sync your phones to their boat speakers and take in the lovely views with your fave music playing in the background. They also allow you to bring food and drinks on board. They provide life jackets for little ones. They currently have a special of buy four get one free that you can use later on. Amazing! Extremely hassle free online booking system. I wanted to surprise my mom (purple is her favorite color) with a purple boat ride. I booked the purple boat and added a purple balloon garland. Driving down Newport Blvd. before turning onto Via Lido I spotted the beautiful bright purple boat with the balloon garland on top! It was perfect, better than I could have ever imagined. I parked at the parking structure. It was super close and convenient. I was able to bring snacks on board and the gentleman at the dock was so helpful. I booked the 3:30-5:30pm time slot and it did not disappoint. Water was calm and the sunset was incredible. I 100% recommended booking with electric boat rental. read more

Can you believe that in my 37 years of being alive and growing up in Orange County, I'd never rented an electric boat in Newport until this week? I had family in town and was looking for something coastal to do that wasn't walking -- we'd already walked around a ton -- and this heatwave was brutal. I wasn't familiar with the boat rental companies, so first did a bit of Googling. I was about to book with another company, but decided to see what Yelp had to say. It was because of you, my fellow Yelpers, that I found Vision eBoat Rentals. THANK YOU! We rented too a weekday late afternoon, so did not need a reservation... nor did we really have the time to make one. After signing our life away, we went down the dock to retrieve our boat. I was highly impressed with the appearance of the boats.. and it wasn't just the appearance that was great, the boats were PHENOMENAL! They don't go super fast -- which is a good thing -- so I felt SUPER safe. (Note: the map was a little confusing -- it took us a few minutes to understand where to go to do the figure eight loop) Love the fact that you can hook your phone up to the bluetooth to play music! So fun! The boats are super clean, too! If the monthly membership was a little less, I would totally do it! (It's just a weeeee bit out of my price range). If I could give zero stars I would. Part of this company's business model sadly appears to be that they look for any opportunity to charge you anything additional. Recently, a friend of mine rented a boat here for me for my birthday, but I had to put down my card for liability purposes. it was my 49th birthday. We were super clean, super tame and specifically asked the person at the Duffy place where a good place would be to tie up for a quick bathroom run if we needed one and he recommended somewhere on the harbor. We ended deed stop there and bathroom was on a small beach that had a little bit of sand that you had to cross to get to the bathrooms. When we went to dock we realized that we didn't have any ropes so somebody had to literally hold on to the Duffy from the dock. When we got back, there was a little bit of sand from the bottom of people shoes in the Duffy. Later we went to a restaurant to grab a quick bite and had to run around and find somebody that had an extra rope so we could tie up since again, we were not given ropes. We get back to the Duffy place return the Duffy and mention to the Duffy company that there was no rope. They did not seem to care and kind of were annoyed that we even mentioned it. Days later, with no notice or explanation, I have a $150 charge on my card. I called the Duffy place.l and asked why the charge. The person I spoke with said I have no idea but usually it's for damage or cleaning. I explained the Duffy was in perfectly fine shape when I returned it but the person didn't seem to care be able to do anything. After that I finally get an email saying there was sand in the Duffy and we had to clean it. Sand in Duffy?! Of course there may be sand in a boat. They attached this picture as proof of the sand. Does this look like something that would cost $150 to clean or is out of the ordinary? Shouldn't a light cleaning be be part of a standard service? I responded to the email with my position and mentioning about the ropes and never got a response. We rented from here years ago and had a similar experience - lesson learned. I will never ever rent from these thieves again. It show shortsighted how they run this business. later. read more

Worth! I took a few of my coworkers out last Friday to enjoy the beautiful weather. Reservations were made ahead of time so when we arrived all I had to do was check in and sign some documents. In a few minutes I was sent over to the dock to get our electric boat. Since it was the holiday weekend the rate was a little bit more (I had a voucher to cover 2 hours :D), but not so bad. After walking down to the dock we got onto our shaded boat and was given quick, easy instructions on how to operate it and how to navigate the water (we were given a map). We set sail and enjoyed the weather and the amazing views. The boat was equipped with a bluetooth speaker so we had tunes blasting, and we brought drinks and snacks to enjoy as well. Overall an awesome experience which I'd love to do again. Great customer service from the workers as well! read more

Incredibly disappointed with this experience the co-manager "nick" gave me and my family. I've planned this Duffy boat ride in advance for my sister that is leaving the country for college. It was suppose to be a fun and extraordinary experience that's why I upgrade our boat to their "speciality" boat which cost more than any of their boat options. We were welcomed with staff already challenging our reservation as on the website the boat that was pictured and presented was only 1 type of boat "the faintail" but to our surprise and shock we were put in a totally different looking boat yes the boat was pink but was NOT was what pictured in the website. This was absolutely false advertisement. My sisters dressed up and planned for a certain look for her going away party and special day but was totally crushed with the look of the boat that we paid for. To make matters worse a staff member and manager nick bullied us into getting into the "only boat"he says is available to us and even after explaining to him our distress over being tricked into thinking what was pictured on the website is what we're paying for. Nick tells us "we just put any picture on the website" that claim tells us that they'll just put a good face online and don't care for their customers reaction and bully them into whatever they want to give when they get there. We are an understanding group and willing to compromising, we pleaded that we are willing to wait for the boat that we paid for but nicks solution was to punish us by taking an hour away from our 2 hour boat ride. Is that customer service? While obviously we were not given any type of customer service or satisfaction nick comes back and mentions that in the final email which is the email you received after payment is that there's 2 types of boats and it's first come first serve in his smug look he still misses the point that it was advertised incorrectly and their customer is trying to work with them through this horrid situation yet all he did was try to punish us by scarring us into losing an hour of our trip bullying us into a boat we did not pay for. My take away from this is call the company and ask them very specific to questions and don't expect too much customer service from the manager nick. read more
