Colby and the other attendant were so nice and helpful! They let us set up food etc a few min early and gave us one if their newer boats. It's so nice to launch from Balboa island as there is a great couple of bathrooms right at the ferry and everything is right there, including the little convenience store for ice etc. the boat was big and held up to 11 comfortably although we held it to 9 passengers. Loved Viyagers and will definitely rent from then again! (PS tell everyone to Duck down the alley after coming over the bridge to the island and avoid busy marine Av then come down 8 or so little blocks and park on Tooas or Opal and walk a block to Agate or close to ferry to Voyagers Dock.... We rented a 2-hour duffy boat ride for a party of 12 over the Christmas holiday. We were staying on Balboa Island and Voyagers' storefront is on the island, right next to the ferry dock. Booking the rental was very easy through the website. The fees and rules are clearly posted on the site and we encountered no surprises. After booking the reservation, we received a link where everyone driving could fill out the waiver form in advance. That made the rental process so much easier and FASTER. We arrived at the dock and after a safety presentation, we were out on the water in no time! The boat was in great condition and we were all comfortable inside. Jeff was really helpful and friendly. the location was great. It's on balboa island so unless you came from that side, park on the other side, take a ferry across. Go with your car, bike, or walk for a couple dollars; cash only. It's part of the experience. 1.5-2 hours is plenty to do the loop. You may get slowed down if there's a lot of wind. I'm not sure how they'd charge for that. It's at a great location where the ferries go back and forth. It gets rocky as you go toward the ocean so don't go too far out. No bathroom in the Duffy so don't drink too much or you won't enjoy yourself read more

We were going to be the first ones on the water that day and after a quick tutorial of how to drive the boat and directions, we were off. I booked a rental with Voyager this past weekend for my birthday. I decided to book with them because they currently have the best price in the area for a 12 seater Duffy. The reservation process was extremely easy. When we arrived at the Duffy they were a bit challenging to find since check in was at the end of the dock and they were blocked by signs/more people from Newport Pontoons. The Boat was clean and fit all 12 of my friends, although a bit tight! The employees were nice and allowed me to set up and decorate prior to the arrival of the rest of my guests. Let me first tell you that we tried voyagers years ago when they were just starting out. Back then they had some technical challenges with the boats, but after our most recent voyage I am convinced that those growing pains are long behind them. I am not interested in renting a duffy from anyone else now that I've had the true voyagers experience. Their dock is conveniently located right next to the balboa ferry, this means you could park on the island OR do like we did - park in the marina area where there are shops and restaurants (and the pier and park) and then take the ferry across whe it is time for your reservation. A two-hour rental allowed us to cruise the entire bay at our pace and be back ten minutes early. The boat (officially a 12-seater) worked out perfectly for our party of eight, we had plenty of room to roam around and take turns driving, etc. When I've driven duffy's before I've often felt the unease of being responsible for my boat with everyone else around. (Duffy boats typically are last in terms of right-of-way on the water) but this time I felt well in control of the vessel, which speaks highly of their current lineup. Bring your friends, your food and libations, and of course your own playlist (they hook up with bluetooth) and have a good time any time of the year! read more

The process to book online is simple and so is checking in at the docks. They teach you how to drive it and give you a map and send you on your way. We brought alcohol and pizzas and snacks, ALL ALLOWED. I booked the 8 person Duffy which was said to seat 6 comfortably but honestly you can fit 8 if not 10 comfortably. We booked one of their larger boats for our party of 12 and there was plenty of room for all. The boats are clean, comfortable and really well kept. Our driving boat instructor gave clear directions on both the operation of the boat as well as directions. However, I recommend using Google map along with boat map to keep your course. The stereo is a nice plus and can accommodate both blue tooth or an aux cord so don't forget to bring your tunes. Two hours was plenty of time to take the long way around Balboa. My only regret - I should have done this sooner! What a great, leisurely way to spend a Sunday afternoon. Top your day of with Balboa Bars and your weekend is complete! read more

It was warm enough so we didn't need to lower windows, but it's nice to have this option in case it gets colder.
