My husband andI walked into Anthem Coffee Saturday. morning to the counter to order. We could not get ANY employee to greet us, make eye contact or wait on us. We stood at the counter as the two gals visited and laughed. When they finished their conversation, still nothing. The one working the counter walked off again. The staff is friendly. It is relatively spacious. I enjoyed the coffee and avocado toast was delicious. There are limited parking spots. I get that as it is meant for the nearby residents. You can grab a cup and walk along the seaside. read more

Anthem Coffee & Tea at Point Ruston is a solid coffee shop with a large drink and food menu. I visited Anthem Coffee as this was near where I was staying, and the place was bustling on a Tuesday morning. Located at Point Ruston in the retail level of a multi-family housing unit, it's near many other businesses. The parking situation I'm unsure about as I walked here when I visited and didn't see any designated parking spots outside the shop for it. The parking spaces outside were mostly designated for nearby businesses, so I imagine you'll have to park in the garage or a paid lot where the market is. Since the shop was busy when I visited, I had to wait a bit to order as the two baristas were preparing the food and the drinks. Fortunately, I didn't order anything that took more time to prepare as I was running later than anticipated. Inside, many tables were taken by patrons. I ordered the marbled coffee brew, which had dark and white chocolate in the cold brew along with a breakfast burrito for takeout. When I asked the barista which breakfast item she liked the best, she had recommended the breakfast burrito with sausage, egg and hashbrowns. However, I was disappointed by how little sausage and egg were in the burrito. It was mostly potato inside, so would not recommend if you're looking for something with more protein. If I had more time to dine in, I would've had the avocado toast with bacon and eggs or an acai bowl, which is offered here. Overall, glad to have tried Anthem Coffee as it's a solid place for caffeine with a large food menu. read more

Perfect pick me up on a chilly day! My friend and I stopped in for a hot beverage; she ordered a hot spiced chai latte and I ordered the Crunch Berries Latte. The baristas were fast and accurate even though the line picked up quickly. My drink was super hot so we were chatting at a table for two inside waiting for my latte to get to tasting temps. When I sipped the latte it was pure creamy berry bliss! Very flavorful and light sweetness, great quality coffee, sweeteners and flavors. My new favorite flavored coffee drink. Tucked into a live and eat living space is this gem of a coffee shop. We were walking along the water and needed refreshments! The coffee drinks were delicious and the food was good. A drip coffee is as expensive as a latte elsewhere and when I got to the end of my coffee I was surprised with a mouth full of coffee grounds. When o told the barista about this mouth full of coffee grounds in my $5 coffee she simply said, "sorry, thank you for letting me know." Not one effort to make it right. When I brought this up to someone higher than her, same answer. Another coffee would have been too much caffeine and when I pressed for even a partial refund, she said she would and then never did. Came in at 10 am today (Monday) walking down from Dune Park. Not too busy and quick line, people working were friendly and friendly chatty customers as well. Person at register seemed helpful and nice - Ordered a burrito and matcha latte - they warmed up the burrito (I asked if that was possible!) and then I received a normal latte. I don't really drink caffeine so I threw it away - didn't want to maneuver stroller back in for the mistake. It was rung up incorrectly (checked receipt in email afterward). All in all, decent but not ideal. Used restroom and it was extremely cramped to go through door to get in because of some sort of storage or something. Came here on July 4th in the morning. Between the street market and people gearing up for a running event this place was *packed* I could have walked over to Dancing Goats, but I really prefer Anthem's coffee given the choice. As packed as they were, the cashier was doing a great job getting people through while the barista was slinging that coffee in a very seamless fashion! Same coffee that I can get at their other locations and the wait really wasn't that long. Best part of this location is...the location. I've been to the other anthem locations, Worst experience I've had. My drink was so so nothing to really brag about, but I was mostly disappointed in the staff. The staff were loudly discussing drinking habits and stories about getting drunk. While also talking badly about a different staff member who was not present. I've been wanting to try Anthem coffee for the longest and finally decided after a nice walk with the family along Ruston, to stop by on a Sunday afternoon. Staff is friendly, store is clean. Lots of food options to choose from. My Husband and I both got 16 oz. iced white chocolate caramels' with ristretto shots as our afternoon pick me up, and also a lemon funfetti cookie for the kids' to share (it was huge). After tip, for the 3 items it was $19.65. Left the store, to continue our walk along the waterfront, first sip was SWEET, I mean sickly sweet. I was shocked and kept stirring it, tried my husbands, same; had our 12 y/o daughter sip it to see if I'm being dramatic, even she said it was TOO SWEET. I tossed my drink, and I truly, dislike wasting. I contemplated having it remade but didn't want to walk back. On a better note, the cookie was really good. I'm sad it was such a underwhelming first time experience, especially because we frequent Ruston way so much for our family walks. Now I know to pick up a coffee along the way next time. read more

Hot chocolate is not their strong suit. Food is just okay. My main pet peeve here is that there are no prices on anything. Not on the wall menu, not on the stuff in the bakery cases, not on the stuff in counter baskets. I asked about some cookies and was told they range in price. Is that range based on the cookie, how well you like me, how the wind is blowing? Not a lot of things are marked as to what they are either. This is frustrating. read more

The rudest employee. I hadn't been there before and received not only snarky comments but just plain rude attitude throughout the entire encounter. I bought my item, a bit embarrassed that I had been talked to in such a demeaning way in front of people and left. I will never be back and when telling people about the beautiful location of Point Ruston to stop and visit to definitely not stop in there. The store was staffed with 4-5 people working and it was not busy when we walked in. We noticed that they messed up the orders for the folks in-front of us. When we ordered they never made my food item order, which I paid for. My friend's order was made incorrectly, as they did not listen to him indicate his food allergy. We had to reorder food for my friend and wait even longer and my order never came so i just asked for a refund and we left. There was no empathy for the situation or any sort of customer support to rectify the situation. I was very excited to see an anthem coffee open at Point Ruston. I was even happier when I decided to venture out and try their dirty chai with soy. Essentially it's chai, soy, and espresso shots. It sounds a little crazy, but it's super delicious! It is actually my new favorite thing at any coffee shop now. I love that they have these creative drinks, and that I found my new favorite, but I have found that the last two times I have gone there, they haven't been consistent. Last week, we ordered a mocha and a dirty chai and both were extremely milky. It was hard to taste any coffee or chai. I'm not sure if the espresso shots were made poorly or the measurements were wrong, but they just weren't good. Also, the coffee is rarely very hot. We gave Anthem another try a few days ago. I really do like the flavor of their coffee and just want our drinks to be like they were when we first ordered them. This last time when I ordered, they asked me if I wanted vanilla or spicy chai. I have never been asked this, and didn't know what to pick, so I picked vanilla, but I think it was the spicy chai that I like. Maybe some people ask for your preference and other people just make it, I'm not sure. However, consistency is really important. I really want to keep going to Anthem and getting my new found drink, but I want it hot, the espresso shots made well, and the same chai used every time. My partner just wants his mocha with well-made shots, milk, a balanced amount of chocolate, and to get it hot. We will give it another try for sure, but I really hope this next time goes better. read more
